Chapter 3360  What to choose?

"Ahem... hello? Is anyone there?" Rean asked, still confused with what just happened.

Unfortunately, there was no answer to his question. The only thing he knew was that the path was now open, and the obelisk was gone. "I guess I should be going then... Does that mean I passed the test? That doesn't seem quite right..."

Even Roan didn't know much about what to do in that situation. Nonetheless, it was better to at least take a look. 'Just go through it and see what happens. Just keep your guard high and enter the Dimensional Realm if anything goes wrong.'

Rean nodded and walked to the door, opening it and passing through. Immediately, his vision changed again, and now he found himself in the midst of countless books floating around. There were also bookshelves, also floating in that magical space. "Is this the real Mist Library? Did I truly get in?"

Then, on the floor not far from his, a mark began to shine faintly. Rean could see several runes on that mark, but it was more like a seal. Rean could tell it was inviting him over, so he went there to check. Checking it up close, those were indeed more of those natural Starlight Energy Runes blending with the mark. Finally, Rean took a deep breath and stepped on it.

-The Mist Library welcomes its next visitor. As a successful challenger, the contestant gained the option to select five different techniques, skills, or any other kind of knowledge available in the Library.-

-However, the visitor also has the right to make a choice. You can either take those five pieces of knowledge for yourself, or you can select someone of your confidence within the Mist Library to share that knowledge. The maximum number of companions allowed is four. Be aware that if the second option is chosen, it will decrease the number of options available for each person.-

Rean pondered a bit, looking at the books and bookshelves floating in the air. In the end, before choosing, he decided to jump!

He shot like an arrow in the direction of one of the floating books, trying to grab it. If he gets the books himself, he won't need to care about any limit of choices, right?

*Shhh...*

Unfortunately, it didn't work. Just as Rean was about to touch the floating book, it dissipated like smoke. It was as if it had never been there to start with. "Tch... Well, it wasn't like I expected it to work anyway."

Rean landed once again, now stepping on the mark and thinking about the options. 'What do you think?'

Roan glanced at Herbert. They did have an agreement, after all. Besides, Herbert has fulfilled his part without trying to deceive them so far. 'Select the five companions thing and use one of the slots for Herbert. I refuse to owe anyone a debt.'

Rean nodded, already expecting that. He, too, wouldn't want to go back on his words, especially if the other side already fulfilled his. "I chose the second option! As for my companions, they are by the amphora outside. One of them is..."              

Rean spoke of each one of his choices, giving a good description of their appearances and abilities to the best of his knowledge. He wanted to make sure the Mist Library wouldn't take the wrong experts since there were more of them back there.

Once Rean finished his descriptions, the Mist Library accepted his request. -Your companions shall be brought to you shortly.-

Outside, Roan warned Herbert about Rean's success. He just told Herbert that Rean found a workaround to avoid the loss of memories, and fortunately, it worked. Now, they would be pulled to the real Mist Library.

Herbert's eyes lit up, and he accepted. he wasn't afraid of it being a trap from the twins since he knew how to differentiate the spatial pull of a Pocket Dimensional Realm from other Spatial Pulls. There wasn't a need to worry about that, though. The amphora once again expelled even more white fog, which instantly covered Herbert, Roan, Kentucky, and Rifindio. With Rean, they would be a total of five companions. That matches the number of centurions from back then.

Noticing that movement, Zantie immediately rushed to Herbert's side. He knew Herbert would be pulled away, just like he was with Rean. "Where do you think you are going? You better bring me along!" As he said that, he also attacked without holding back.

Herbert, however, snorted. He waved his hand, and all his clan members disappeared inside his Pocket Dimensional Realm. "Bring you along? Keep dreaming! Don't worry, though. I'll let you know how good it was once I come out. Hahaha!"

*Zush!*

Zantie's attack passed through the location Herbert was just a split second ago. Unfortunately for him, his attack hit a bunch of nothing. Herbert's group turned into white fog as well, being dragged into the amphora almost instantly. Zantie tried to follow that concentration of White Fog, but the moment he got close to the amphora, the same barrier activated once again, and he was pushed back, finding it impossible to follow. "Fuck!"

Back in the Mist Library, the mark around Rean shined even more, and a Spatial distortion happened. The next thing he knew, Roan and the others were there, right by his side. "Oh! So it really worked. Seems like you were right, Herbert. Completing the trial truly gave me the option to open the path for my companions, just like it did with Fidi-Lu."

Hebert looked around, excited. "Hahaha! The Mist Library! I'm finally here!" Next, he turned to Rean and the others. "Fred, you did well. I will dedicate all my clan members' efforts later to gathering as many Starlight Energy Crystals as they can possibly get. By the way, here, these are the ones they gathered while we were separated earlier."

Herbert threw another Spatial Ring to Rean, and inside, there were even more Starlight Crystals. Rean, obviously, accepted them without complaining. "It is good to do business with you."

Herbert nodded in delight, his eyes focused on the countless books and bookshelves floating around. "What to choose, what to choose..."
