Death... and me

Chapter 3361 That Was It

Chapter 3361  That Was It

Looking at all those books, some of the names on them made Herbert's heart race. "Celestial Mind Splitting... The recipe for the Almagametion Pill that has been lost for countless years... The history of the Legendary Golden Snow Dragon, which perhaps can lead to his long-lost hoard... Fuck it! Let me try to catch them all!"

Herbert couldn't fly either, so he jumped, just like Rean did a moment ago. Too bad that history repeated itself. The moment he was about to grab the book, it dissipated like white fog. Herbert didn't give up, jumping and trying to catch an entire bookshelf this time. Well, it was also meaningless as the same thing occurred. Only after trying a few times did Herbert land on the ground and sighed in disappointment. "Divine Energy, Spatial Power, direct touch, using Starlight Energy... Nothing works. They all disappear before I can catch them."

Rean shrugged. "If it was that easy, I would have taken them already, don't you think? Anyway, if you want to choose something, just step on that mark and say what you are looking for out loud. The Mist Library seems to have a sentience of its own, so it should give you what you want or at least something close to it."

Herbert nodded. "Very well. You can go first, though. I have to think about it."

Roan took the offer. "Then I'm going to try it out."

Everyone paid attention to him. Little did Herbert know, but Roan didn't really have any interest in any cultivation technique or skill. He had the system's technique, and his skills were best if he created them himself. Roan didn't need any pills recipe at the moment either. That said, his mind was already set. He wanted a piece of information. Stepping on the mark, the voice of the Mist Library echoed again in that room.

-The challenger selected the maximum number of allowed companions. That means each companion will have access to one single request. Please state what kind of knowledge you desire.-

Roan nodded. "Tell me a method to leave the Werdlem Empire's Bubble."

Sure enough, Roan asked something that would help his group escape the Werdlem Empire. Too bad it was beyond the Mist Library's powers.

-Request can't be fulfilled. No knowledge available in the library contains an answer to the question provided. Please, select another option.-

Roan would be lying if he said he was surprised. The Mist Library is bound to this Universe and probably to the Divine Snow World. The Werdlem Empire's Bubble was something that went beyond the confinements of a Universe.

Since that wasn't possible, he went to the one thing that was still related to this Universe to a certain extent, but that could help with the same thing. "I want to know about the Great Void Shifter."

"Great Void Shifter?" Herbert got confused. He had never heard about that before. That was normal, though. He is, after all, one of the birds inside the cage known as Divine Snow World. The Great Void Shifter seems to be something to find outside.

The mark and the runes in it shined once again, and the same happened to the countless books and bookshelves floating. Not long after, a book materialized in the air, quickly floating down until it landed on Roan's hands. It was even in a language Roan could understand.

The title was quite big, but it seemed exactly what Roan was looking for. "The Great Void Shifter's History. How the Abyssal Beast's ability was used in our Universe for its own use..." Roan then sent that book inside the Dimensional Realm. There, Sister Orb could record its contents in a fraction of a second, and he wouldn't have to worry about that knowledge being lost again. Above all, the title alone was one more confirmation that the shifter truly used the Abyssal Beasts' abilities.

Roan then came down, stepping away from the mark on the ground. "I'm done. The rest of you can select whatever you feel like."

Kentucky's eyes lit up, and he quickly jumped on the mark. "I want the recipe for the most delicious food for a Minokawa like me!"

Herbert almost vomited blood! "Food?! You have this one-in-a-lifetime chance, and you asked for a fucking food recipe?! Is your head working?" He could accept Roan's choice since he didn't even know what that Great Void Shifter was about. Perhaps that was something incredible outside the Divine Snow World. Kentucky's choice, however...

"Hmph!" Kentucky didn't care. "It's my choice, isn't it? Then I want what I want. Who are you to tell me what to choose?"

The Mist Library shined once again, and not long after, another book materialized, quickly descending and landing on Kentucky's beak. Naturally, it was sent inside the Dimensional Realm straight away. "Hehehe! Now, this is what I consider striking it rich!"

Rean shrugged, finding that funny. Well, he wouldn't complain. A recipe for a minokawa probably involved some extremely rare divine metal. That was something he was definitely interested in. "Do you want to go now, Herbert?"

"N-No..." Herbert, still finding it hard to accept Kentucky's request, shook his head. "You can go ahead."

"Let me then." Rifindio was curious about it, so he decided to give it a try ahead of Rean. "What does Triaglia want from me?"

The Library shined, and that surprised the twins. Did the Library know why Triaglia blocked Rifindio in the network? What kind of relationship could they have? That was the Universe's Owner!

Yet, what materialized wasn't a book but just a simple paper slip with a very short message.

-You are her plaything.-

*Bang!*

Herbert and Rifindio fell with their faces to the ground...

"You are asking about love?! Are you that fucking insecure?! Just go out there and ask the woman yourself, for fuck's sake! Why use the Mist Library like this?!" Herbert bellowed in anger. Just what were these guys thinking the Mist Library is?

"Fuck you!" Rifindio wanted to cry himself. "If I could, I would have done it already!" Rifindio then came down. If he was confused before, now he was even more so. Plaything? It can't really be in that sense, can it?

"Alright. It's my time now." Rean smiled and stepped on the mark once again. Herbert was pretty much begging already. "Please... ask for something meaningful. My heart can't take it much longer."

Rean pondered a bit and nodded. "I want to know how to acquire the Mist Library's source of Starlight Energy."

Finally, Herbert sighed in relief. That was at least a commendable request. Even he was interested. With such a huge amount of pure Starlight Energy, Rean might be set for life if he acquires it.

Yet, another paper slip materialized and fell on Rean's hand. As for the message...

-Fuck you!-

That was it...
