Chapter 2042: Day and Night - Final

Wara was disappointed, in all of the years of fighting she had never lost to a fight other than her master, Mex. The Grand Sage was also flabbergasted by the difference the Mage Air Squad had created and had never seen such a fight before in his life.

There was power, speed, and ultimately simplicity. As much as Mex loved fancy spells, the efficiency of magic that the soldiers possessed was at a whole new level. So much so that the Grand Sage could see that their magic output was tremendous despite the mana consumed. Find adventures on .com

The conversion of mana into the spell could be said to be many times better than what he had seen so far and despite the years of research, Mex had never been able to achieve even a two times efficiency at all, much less a dozen times.

Using his high level scan spell to perform a thorough search, he noticed that all of them only had an S rank relic bestowed to them while their weapons were only A Rank. He was also able to discern that the relic only provided them +200 magic which was considered a low rank S rank relic compared to what his disciples were equipped with.

This meant that this was not a matter of relics since all of his disciples were decked out with not just 2 relics but every single piece of equipment on them was at least an A Rank and above. One could say that even their undergarments were of that level as well.

This showed how serious Mex was for this duel and yet the Mage Air Squad was able to defeat his disciples through pure magical strength, something he could not fathom at all.

How was Jin able to train these people in two weeks they were considered to be one of the lowest magic capabilities in Ress to a fighting force that was able to kill his best disciples in a matter of seconds. He could not imagine what Jin could do if he mass educated his ideals to the entire mage army. Ress would be a country that would be feared and not looked down upon.

They can have an army that can further protect the monopoly of crystals. The Grand Sage had no choice but to bow this one out for the country even though his pride had been crushed so severely because of this.

Even if the Kingdom requested a duel between Jin and him, he could see that it would be futile for the King to even accept such a duel since Mex had always said that Wara was stronger in her magic as compared to his own magic casting. The only thing that she was lacking was the experience and knowledge that Mex had accumulated.

So, if Jin’s trainees could defeat Wara this easily, Mex does not know whether he can even match against one of the trainees at all. As for the Mage Air Squad, they continued to keep a distance away from Wara while requesting for her to surrender. It was not something that Jin had taught or asked them to do but rather it was Number 4’s own volition.

"Please surrender and we can end this quickly." Number 4 asked and Wara knew that throwing a last stand would be rather meaningless and she should withdraw when the opportunity arises. Gara nodded his head slowly, knowing that his sister was able to keep some honour, and declared Jin to be the winner of this competition.

Even the commoners who watched it saw how crazy strong the trainees were and clapped for them as they came out of the portal. Most were sour that their favourites from Mex disciples could lose such a battle but most were proud that there was a force to be reckoned with and it was a product of the King too.

This further cemented the King’s standing with the commoners and political power too since the bet he made was still valid, causing all the ministers to be bitter in disappointment. Some invested quite a lot of money and even their personal belongings in this fight since the ministers knew that their rice bowl was on the line.

And yet, their challengers did not even stand a chance at all since every single trainee mage was able to survive the attack.

"Ladies and Gentlemen! With this duel, these ten trainees will officially be inducted into the Royal Army in a new military wing. They will be called Commando Mages and they will be in the First Commando Mage Platoon rather than the First Mage Air Squad." When Jin said this, everyone was whispering about the prospect of being such a mage.

"There will be vacancies for people who want to join this platoon and the pay is high! However, the pay comes with hard work and endurance as well as risk too!" Jin yells as he broadcasts this not only in the capital city but also in the very possible region of Ress too.

The people had thought that this duel was seen only in the capital city but there was a financial ministry agent that went to refugee camps, villages, and towns for this duel.

Like Mex, Jin did his homework beforehand and roughly knew his winning odds when he saw the Grand Sage Mex’s power level. So, he daringly proposed such a bet and even sweetened the deal for the ministers to fall into this. The only major factor was that he did not how strong his trainees could become.

The resort for winning would possibly be infusing them with his Maqi but it seemed that the trainees came out fine and even exceeded his expectations.

"For this platoon would subsequently be the first group to enter the Northern Regions and fight against the demons! They could very well be the group to enter the now fallen kingdom of Lyrco and retake it back to human hands!" He emphasised the Northern Region’s largest kingdom to entice the refugees. ṘàΝO͍𐌱ƐŞ

"Of course, the Commando Mage Platoon is only for the Citizens of Ress with only the best of the best can enter. If volunteers from other kingdoms wished to join this expedition, you would be subjected to the same training and I can create a platoon just for the fallen Kingdom of Lyrco. Otherwise, the rest would be under the brand new Rifle Mage Battalion with equally attractive pay.

More of such Battalions had been planned with things this world had never seen before." Jin announced and everyone was whispering whether they should try and join.

"But I have to note that the two week training would be strenuous and the group can attest to it. And for those currently in the army will also be subjected to such training. If you were to quit the training, you would be dismissed from the army as well." Jin was serious when he said it. "I need the best in my army because we are going to contend against the demons.

I am not going to send any random Tom, Dick, and Harry to their deaths because the army is not adequate in providing the training to survive."

This made even more whispers among the people and it looked like the King wanted the current standard that his new Commando Mage Platoon had disappeared as the new norm. If the kingdom does have an army that is capable of what the Commando Mage Platoon could do, then defeating the demons is a possible task.

In those few minutes of speech, it raised the morale of the kingdom instantly but Jin was also not discounting everyone to drop what they were doing and come join the army. "As much as I need an army, the training would be harsh to have an effective fighting force but if you fail, I beseech all of you to understand the survival of the kingdom through trade and labour is still equally as important.

The dungeon portals is a clear indication that all manner of trades are relevant and we need people to work hard to make sure Ress can come out of the top, defeat the demons, and be the world leader that everyone can admire!"

A loud roar emerged through the capital city knowing that this particular king was doing what he could for the kingdom.

"Lastly, I am giving this speech to inform everyone that due to certain decisions that have been made behind the scenes, I will be dissolving the ministries and reappointing people for new ministries which I deem worthy. This also meant that people who could read, write, or calculate and come forward to apply for such positions when the ministries’ dissolution had been completed.

This includes the refugees as well but do take note that I expect competency."

"With that being said, if there were any discrimination between Ress and other kingdoms, I would go down hard on you. For we are now humans against demons. Not humans against humans. If you decide to be discriminatory, I will treat you as a demon and cut you down as well."

The King wants all the manpower he can get and he was not willing to let grudges between previous kingdoms. After all, now that they were isolated within this kingdom barrier, the King wanted them to focus their efforts on survival, defending from demon onslaught which they could later dive into extermination and subsequent expansion.

This was his roadmap and he was not going to compromise unless something big happened. After all, he needed to clear the demons so that he could use their parts against the angels.
