Granny Mei’s eyes widened slightly, surprised that the white cat had spoken. She smiled gently. “Ah, young lady, you are indeed a descendant of the White Tiger. The one I knew was a compassionate being, who believed that all life was precious. She chose to protect the mortals of that clan because she saw their kindness and their potential.”
She paused, her gaze turning thoughtful. “The White Tiger believed that even mortals, with their limited lifespans and their fragile bodies, could achieve great things, could embody the virtues of courage, loyalty, and love. She saw them not as weaklings, but as beings worthy of protection.”
Linlin remained silent, her eyes fixed on Granny Mei, her expression unreadable.
Yun Lintian, on the other hand, thought of the possibility of meeting the other mythical beasts there. Perhaps he could enhance his bloodlines further?
Granny Mei led them through the narrow alleyways, her footsteps light and nimble despite her age. They arrived at a small, unassuming house, its walls worn and its roof patched, but its interior clean and cozy.
Granny Mei invited them inside, offering them tea and snacks.
“Do you live alone?” Yun Lintian asked.
Granny Mei smiled sadly. “Yes. I was fortunate enough to survive the catastrophe back then. Everyone I knew is gone.”
“My condolences,” Yun Lintian said gently.
Granny Mei smiled and said, “Thank you.”
“The Bai Clan,” she began, her gaze drifting into the distance, as if replaying scenes from a long-lost past, “was a powerful clan, renowned throughout the western side of the Profound Mystery God Realm. They were known for their mastery of the White Tiger’s power, their connection to the ancient beast, and their unwavering commitment to protecting the innocent.”
She paused, her eyes filled with a gentle warmth. “I was fortunate enough to serve them as a servant, tending to the needs of my mistress, a kind and compassionate woman who embodied the virtues of the White Tiger. The clan treated me with respect, valuing my contributions and making me feel like a part of their family.”
Granny Mei’s voice grew somber as she continued. “The Bai Clan was a beacon of light in a world filled with darkness. They upheld justice, protected the weak, and sought to maintain balance in the realm. They were admired and respected by many, but they also attracted the envy and hatred of those who sought power and control.”
She sighed, her eyes filled with a deep sadness. “One fateful day, while I was away from the clan, venturing into a distant city to procure rare herbs for my mistress, disaster struck. A coalition of rival clans and power-hungry sects launched a surprise attack, their forces overwhelming the Bai Clan’s defenses.”
Granny Mei’s voice trembled as she recounted the tragic events. “By the time I returned, the Bai Clan was in ruins. Their once majestic halls were reduced to rubble, their warriors lay dead, and their hopes were extinguished. I searched frantically for my mistress, but she was nowhere to be found. I feared the worst.”
She paused, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. “I was devastated, lost, and alone. I had no family, no home, no purpose. I wandered the realm, seeking refuge, trying to make sense of the tragedy that had befallen the Bai Clan.”
Granny Mei’s gaze turned towards Yun Lintian and Linlin, her eyes filled with a mix of gratitude and hope. “Eventually, I found my way to this city, seeking anonymity and a chance to rebuild my life. I have lived here ever since, keeping the memory of the Bai Clan alive in my heart.”
“Why didn’t you try to find the White Tiger God?” Yun Lintian asked, curious.

“I did,” Granny Mei responded. “But she was nowhere to be found. It was as if she had vanished from the face of the realm. I believe she was trapped or sealed away when the Bai Clan was attacked.”
Linlin’s eyes turned cold when she heard this.
Yun Lintian patted her gently as he felt the murderous aura from Linlin.
“Do you know who attacked the Bai Clan?” Linlin asked, her voice sharp.
Granny Mei nodded slowly. “I have my suspicions,” she said. “The attack was too well-coordinated, too precisely timed. It was clear that someone with inside knowledge had orchestrated it.”
She paused, her eyes narrowing. “I believe the Profound Mystery Sect was involved. They had always coveted the Bai Clan’s power and influence, and they saw them as a threat to their own dominance.”
Yun Lintian raised his brow slightly. “That’s quite contradictory.”
Granny Mei nodded gently. “To tell you the truth, I came here just to investigate this matter. At least, I have to know who killed my mistress before I die… However, the fact that the Profound Mystery God protects mortals makes me at a loss. Are they truly evil?”
“Can you tell me the location of the Bai Clan?” Yun Lintian asked. He knew that Linlin would definitely want to investigate this matter.
Granny Mei looked at Yun Lintian in surprise, but she soon understood. After all, Linlin was a descendant of the White Tiger God.
“I can draw a map for you, young sir,” she said with a serious expression. “However, you must be careful. The enemy is too powerful. I don’t want to implicate you.”
“Thank you for your concern, Granny,” Yun Lintian said gently. “Right. Can you tell me more about the mythical beasts? Are there any others besides the White Tiger God?”
Granny Mei looked at Yun Lintian curiously. It was strange that Yun Lintian, who had a descendant of a mythical beast by his side, didn’t know about this.
She nodded slowly and said, “From what I heard, there are the Divine Phoenix, Golden Crow, Vermilion Bird, and Azure Dragon. However, their whereabouts are unknown to me.”
“I see,” Yun Lintian nodded gently. He would definitely find them later.
A moment later, Granny Mei drew a map for Yun Lintian and told him about the general situation there. Since the Bai Clan was gone, their industry and businesses were basically consumed by their local enemies. If Yun Lintian wanted to investigate this, it was better to do it secretly.
Linlin looked at Granny Mei and said calmly, “Thank you for taking care of her.”
Granny Mei was stunned and quickly shook her head. “How could I dare to accept this gratitude, young lady? It was the White Tiger who took care of us.”
“I can feel your sincerity,” Linlin said gently and nudged Yun Lintian’s cheek.
Yun Lintian immediately understood and handed a cloth bag to Granny Mei. “Please take this, Granny. Live a better life from now on. If there’s a chance, I will come back and tell you about the enemy who destroyed your Bai Clan.”
