The sharp, thin blade in her hand flashed forward like a silver bullet and penetrated the man’s eye. It pierced the eye easily and entered his brain behind it.
The man wanted to scream, but she swished the blade, which turned the knight’s blade into a slurry and made his cry of pain get stuck in his chest. Then she hurried and dodged an arrow shot at her.
The arrow struck the dying knight’s chest and penetrated it all the way as if the projectile was a spear thrown with great force, not a small arrow. Not even the armor could stop the arrow from doing its job.
When she saw this, she realized that If the arrow had struck her she would have probably been split in two. This realization sent chills down her back.
As she picked a direction to run to, she looked back at the source of the arrow and saw its shooter. She recognized the shooter immediately. It was the mutant warrior that she fought with earlier.
The rank 3 warrior was using rank 1 Skilled Hands to wield a heavy longbow and shooting arrows at her. If it were any other pathway, they would have been shot into a sieve by the warrior.
But she was a traveler with the advantage of speed and intuition. Travelers only have one attacking ability even until they reach rank 6. But they are very good at running for their lives and successfully escaping.
Even now, despite being hunted by a rank 3 warrior with a bow and about to be surrounded by numerous others, she was able to weave her way around through danger and navigate her way to safety.
Not even the combination of rank 1 Skilled Hands, rank 2 Martial Instincts, and rank 3 Boost Weapon of the pathway of warriors could stop her. The best the warrior was able to do was injure her arm slightly.
The traveler escaped, but the hunt wasn’t over by any means. The warrior instructed people to inform Bushwick while he grabbed a rank 1 seer and set him on the trail of the traveler.
A seer is very weak. Even until they reach rank 4, they don’t have any means to attack others with. But seers are the best trackers. They can find anything they saw recently. It is especially easy to track a target when the target is bleeding.
The seer took a good look at the drops of blood on the ground that the traveler produced. In his vision, the world was colorful and bright, not darker.
There were colorful winds that formed trails in the air. These trails were like rivers of colorful winds flowing in one direction as rivers normally do.
One of those trails belonged to the traveler. He followed this trail as if he was walking along the bank of a river.
Tracking was that easy for him. He could see the traces, and all he had to do was follow them.
The colorful trail of air was formed by her body odor. Beneath this trail on the ground were her footprints.
These footprints were also colorful. They were unique in terms of color combination, length, and depth.
There was a lot of information to be gained from the colors of her body odor and the shape of her foot step. He could glean some of this information, but most of it was beyond him.
The third thing he was using to track her was the blood trail. With these three things, the seer couldn’t lose her.
The warrior followed the seer every step of the way. Even without Bushwick getting angry about the deaths of the knights, he was already angry enough for the both of them.
He was angry that she killed the knights of the family and that he had failed to kill her two times in a row. So he made sure to track her to the ends of the earth and make sure to put her down.
All the warrior had with him were his blades and his bow. He also had a flask of energy water, which he gave the seer to drink from time to time.
While this was happening, the people that Bushwick had sent out to kill the family members of the lamp bearers had begun their gory work. Their cries of death threw the town into an uproar.
The Ivory family is high and mighty, but the people of the two weren’t going to watch as innocents were killed. They resisted with all they had.
Their resistance was ineffective against the godclads as they were mortals. But they still resisted. It was because after more than a hundred years under the rule of lamp bearers, the people had learned not to fear authority and to always fight for justice.
This lesson would be corrected over time, and their spirit of defiance would be broken eventually. But until then, the whole town turned against the Ivory family.
The people resisted, protested, and rioted in the streets. They made so much trouble that Bushwick might have backed down if he didn’t learn about the death of three knights.
Bushwick didn’t give up. He decided to double down and break the spirit of the people as soon as possible.
He stood on top of a building at the center of the town and watched the people riot in the streets.
The sight made him laugh grimly and say, “You want to pressure me? Very good. It is good that you are throwing your weight around now instead of when the lamp bearers come for revenge.”
He felt that it was a good thing to destroy the morale of the people now instead of waiting for them to receive a backbone in the form of lamp bearers coming to the town for revenge.
He already expected that something like this would happen soon. He had initially expected it to happen when it is announced that only 30% of the energy supply of the town would go to the mortals from now on.
