A black luxurious car slowly settled in front of Cecilia's home. Sitting in the back of the car, Fedora adjusted her robes with a mechanical tick. She was honestly feeling rather uncomfortable right now after being dolled up like she was about to meet someone very important but she couldn't go against the servant of her sister.
'Ugh… I wanted to wear my wig.'
She hated the black hair she had and usually wore a wig when she went outside. Something beautiful or exotic that would make her unique and stand out. She wished to dye her hair in fact but the dye never lasted.
Unlike the beautiful Silver colored hair of her parents and eldest brother, or the golden hair of Natasha, the black hair was proof that she was a normal individual. That she had nothing special and that the only reason she was even high-ranked was because she was the daughter of the current Alpha.
'Huff… Let's go. Anyway, I will just have to apologize then we can leave and it will all end with that.'
"Are you ready?"
"I am it isn't like we are going to see the president or something like that…"
Fedora looked at her sister, feeling her become tense from the moment they had entered this neighborhood. She couldn't understand why her sister was acting like this. It wasn't as if they were having a great meeting now, were they?
'Huh… Well, I guess it's because she is in love?'
There was no other way to explain this situation.
"You can stop here and leave us."
"Miss… Are you sure?"
Fedora tilted her head, hearing tension in the voice of the guard who was acting as their driver.
'I guess it's because of all the attacks that have targeted sister lately.'
"I am. You should understand why I won't need a guard here, right?"
"Understood."
At those words, the two guards who were at the front of the car opened their doors and then went to the back to open the door for both Natasha and Fedora.
Black hair, blue eyes, and a black dress that was reminiscent of a lolita gothic-style clothes.
The style that was chosen by the maids emphasized Fedora's cuteness as she was still nothing but a girl in her teens.
Natasha, meanwhile, was clothed in a more relaxed manner. She was wearing a simple yellow sun dress that accentuated her body type. With how tall and lithe Natasha was, and the long golden hair that shone under the light of the sun and the dress she was wearing, made her natural beauty stand out even more and gave the impression that she was a literal princess coming out of a fairy tale.
"Sis, you are so gorgeous."
Fedora admired quietly once again while praising her endlessly. Unlike her big sister, Elmira, who was more like a mad dog than anything else, she loved the stylish beauty of Natasha.
Not like Elmira wasn't beautiful as well though. She just didn't like her very much.
"Thanks."
Natasha nodded a little curtly while looking ahead. Finally, taking a deep breath, she began to walk toward the house.
"Is this where they live?"
Natasha did not answer,
"It's pretty shabby, to be honest."
Truthfully speaking, the house wasn't that bad looking. But for Fedora who had been used to luxury ever since she was a kid, she couldn't help but think it was. The house was barely bigger than what they used for their servants after all.
She expected a little more from the future boyfriend of Natasha.
"I will tell Father that you need more training in the future."
"Heh? Why!"
Fedora cried out in indignation. She couldn't understand why she was suddenly getting punished.
At least… at first she didn't.
When they finally arrived a few steps away from the front door of the house, Fedora stopped in her tracks.
'Heh…'
She tried to take one more step but to no avail. It was as if her feet were completely rooted on the ground and they refused to listen to her orders.
'Move…'
She forced herself again and was able to start walking again but every step felt as though she had a boulder on her shoulders or an entire mountain pressing on top of her that was restraining her movements.
Her heartbeat was slowly accelerating and goosebumps covered her skin.
What was making her hesitate?
Was she feeling fear?
Ding~!
The sound of the ring was like a violent drum against her heart, making her look at Natasha with clear surprise and astonishment.
But soon her gaze was back to the door and finally —
"Hi, Natasha."
'Ah—'
The moment the door opened… Fedora realized.
ραndαsΝοvεl ƈοm '—This place is dangerous.'
This time it wasn't just subtle signs like earlier. Her mind quite literally exploded with fear and she had the feeling that a scythe had been placed just under her throat and was ready to reap her life at any given time.
The people in this house were anything but normal.
She had to flee. Fast otherwise—
"Sister!"
Even as panic took over her, Fedora's first reflex was to grab the hand of Natasha to pull her and flee together.
"Seems like your instincts aren't completely dull."
A hand on her shoulder and a gently soothing voice calmed her nerves and made it seem like the earlier sensations she felt were a lie.
"I am sorry for doing this, Adam."
"Oh. Don't worry. I guess in this case we are the ones who should apologize?"
"Heh…?"
Fedora did not understand what was happening here.
All she could see was a mischievous smile stretching on Natasha's face.
"Take it as a small lesson."
She chuckled as she pulled Fedora with her and entered the house of the boy she called her dear friend.
