Chapter 3350: Hasty

Following that, Rean took out his CD, contacting Herbert to tell him about the situation in the city.

-No one is there? Not a single living soul?- Herbert was taken aback by the news.

"Yes," Rean confirmed. "Also, from what we can see here, a very, very long time has passed since the city was isolated from the rest of the Divine Snow World. You will see when you get here. Everything is pretty much crumbling already."

-I see...- Herbert pondered a bit as he looked at the city wall not fa from him. -We are here already, and we are about to enter the city. You should be able to see those who had Flying Demon Beasts or the Demon Beasts themselves, and also some flying spirits, reaching the city by now. It will be bad if they see you first since they will understand you used another path. Try to stay hidden and then join me. I can simply say I had you inside my Pocket Dimensional Realm.-

Rean agreed with that plan, spreading his Light Element and hiding everyone. Of course, they were already in the Void Tempering Realm, so they can be detected by the natural spatial perception of other cultivators of similar or higher levels. That said, Rean asked Kentucky to change back to his original form, taking everyone high up in the skies and avoiding contact with any group that got into the city.

Sure enough, Just as they reached a high enough altitude, Rean and the others noticed a few Flying Demon Beasts on their way to the pyramid. They were quite ahead compared to those who were running on foot. Kentucky flew around, avoiding getting too close to any of those groups. They had already ascertained there was no entrance to the pyramid, so it was better to wait for Herbert to arrive.

Turns out that going to the Pyramid was the right choice. As those flying demon beasts or even some flying spirits were moving in the pyramid's direction, something suddenly changed.

The bright Starlight on the top of the Pyramid intensified in an instant, making it almost impossible to look straight at it. Before those flying ones had any chance to understand the situation, several rays of light shot from the top of the pyramid.

*Ziu, ziu, ziu...*

It was too fast. So fast that even the twins would find it hard to dodge without preparation. One or another agile flying expert still managed to dodge the attack in the nick of time. However, most of the Flying Demon Beasts and Spirits that had gotten close to the pyramid were not so lucky.

Those rays of light hit their bodies and also the experts riding on their backs. Everyone who hasn't got that close yet immediately stopped, watching the outcome of those experts. Before long, those who were hit by those rays of light began to dissipate like sand in the wind.

Then, the clothes of the experts who were riding some of the flying beasts slowly fell from the skies. As for the experts inside those clothes, they also turned into dust, disappearing completely in a matter of seconds.

Be it those on the ground, who were still much further away, or the ones who were flying but weren't too close, they all stopped. No one dared to get close to the pyramid anymore. Even Xesht and his Qediya Royal Family members were no different. Regardless if you knew anything about this place or not, you wouldn't try to get close to something like that without preparation.

Rean and his group looked at each other. It was a good thing that Herbert asked them to stay hidden and wait for his group. If they had gone to the pyramid ahead of Herbert, that might have been their own outcome. The reason some managed to survive was basically because they were still far enough from the pyramid, which allowed them the time to react.

Kentucky stayed in mid-air for a few minutes, still keeping a distance from the other flying beasts, spirits, or the experts riding a few of them. Those experts gathered into several groups, all discussing the events that had just occurred.

"There he is," Rean mentioned, his eyes turning to a tower that was half crumbled. There, Rean could see Herbert and his clan members looking at the pyramid from afar. "Kentucky, let's go there."

"Alright!" Kentucky quickly changed direction, arriving by Herbert's side a moment later. Rean quickly dispersed his Light Bending Skill, showing themselves to Herbert.

"That's quite a nice concealing skill you have there," Herbert couldn't help but mention. Well, he still noticed the twins' group approaching after they got close enough to his natural spatial perception.

Rean shrugged. "It looks good because Divine Senses don't work in this place. Otherwise, the others would have found us a long time ago. We had to stay far from the other group so they wouldn't notice us with their spatial perceptions."

Herbert nodded, looking in the Pyramid direction. "I couldn't see very well due to that intense light earlier, but it seems like quite a few perished, right?"

Rean then explained what happened, even though it wasn't that easy for them to see either for the same reason. "You probably noticed the remaining accessories, equipment, and clothes lying around in this city, didn't you? Although they all lost their Divine Energy Properties. Well, now we know what happened to those who were wearing them. I'm pretty sure not even the souls of those who were hit just now were spared."

Herbert sighed, thinking about the many who also died in the tunnel. "They were too hasty. Seeing that there weren't many who could fly, they probably thought they could have a head start by flying as fast as possible to the pyramid. In the end, they paid the price for their greed. That's the cultivation world for you."

Even Roan couldn't agree more with Herbert's words, let alone the others.

Still, they wanted to get inside the Pyramid. "So, Herbert," Roan changed to the main topic. "Any ideas on how to get close or inside that thing?"

And as always, any Golden Tickets and Stones are welcome. ;)

Herbert nodded, although the Pyramid's dangerous ray of light was not part of the information he had. "Leaving those lasers aside, according to the records of our first ancestor, that has to be the Mist Library. The environment changed from his stories, though. The mist where he and the other centurions got lost for a long time is nowhere to be seen. But the pyramid is as exactly described in the records... except for its killing power."

Herbert looked at the Pyramid, trying to look for something specific. "It is a little hard to see from here, but there's supposed to be a block in the pyramid with a mist book image on it. Can your little flying friend bring us up and around the pyramid so we can take a look?"

"Leave it to me," Kentucky quickly allowed everyone on his back, and once again, he took flight.

And as always, any Golden Tickets and Stones are welcome. ;)
