Death... and me

Chapter 3339: Someone Else?

Chapter 3339: Someone Else?

Sami didn't simply trust Rean, obviously. "Stop wasting my time. There is no way you know how that rune operates. I'll commend you for at least recognizing it, but your cultivation is too low even to attempt touching something like this."

Rean shrugged. "Alright, if you say so... Then I will not talk about how the second layer during the third phase process of rune has been generating a peak of flow that is causing the rest of the rune's problems. I will also not talk about how the secret to fixing this problem is actually in during seventh phase process, in the eighth layer. After all, such a faraway phase and layer couldn't possibly cause that much problem to the rune, right? Yes, I will not talk this kind of nonsense anymore."

Sami's expression immediately changed, and his disdain for Rean completely disappeared. Not only did Rean see exactly what was wrong, he truly seemed to know how to fix that issue. "Ahem... on the other hand, it is also a good thing to give the youngster a chance to fight for a better future, right? Did you say you wanted to join the teams at the epicenter of the White Fog phenomenon? I think I can arrange that."

Everyone else watching this felt speechless. Could Sami act any more shamelessly? Too bad he was the one in charge there, and complaining to him could actually cause them to be taken out of this exploration. Besides, as much as the rest of the groups there didn't want to admit it, they knew they would have done the same thing if they had Rean's knowledge. They truly had no right to complain once they realized that.

Rean smiled even more brightly. "Sir is truly an expert among experts. To think so thoroughly about our poor selves' futures. I feel truly moved by your compassion. Please, show me the rune. I will tell you what I know in exchange."

Well, Rean's words didn't help much, and everyone cringed nonstop. Could Sami and Rean actually be Father and Son? That sure looked like the case.

Completely ignoring all the eyes on him, Sami approached Rean and showed the rune. Then, the two of them began to discuss through Divine Sense the rune's shortcomings and the reason why Sami was having so much trouble with it. In just thirty minutes, the rune's layout changed slightly, not enough to say it was a big thing. Yet, once Sami tried it out, the problem was completely gone! He could finally use this rune of his in his new project.

Sami then glanced at Rean, failing to read much into his expression. "What's your name?" "I'm Fred Flintstone, sir," Rean answered, and it was truly the case in his identity. That was exactly the name Rean used to register back when he took the Formations Guild test.

"Flintstone?" Yet, Sami narrowed his eyes. "So you are related to that that annoying guy, uh? It makes sense you know so much about formations, I guess."

"Eh?" Rean was taken aback. Was there another Flintstone? He just took that name from another cartoon character as always. "I think there is a misunderstanding. I'm pretty new around here, you know? Who is this annoying guy you are talking about?"

"Sure, you don't know about it. So be it..." Sami didn't believe those words even for a second. "Anyway, I will arrange for your group to be allowed in the surroundings of the center of the phenomenon. I guess I'm lucky today since I got my problem solved. You could have just asked that guy, but you just had to go through this process. Your clan truly has a bunch of weirdos."

Sami then returned to his seat, ignoring Rean completely.

Rean looked back at his group, and they all shook their heads. None of them knew any Flintstone either. They didn't even know about this name until Rean came up with it back during the Formations Guild test.

"Sigh... let's just leave it aside. Perhaps this misunderstanding might be of some help," Rean commented, giving up searching for more information about that topic.

In his seat, Sami continued his explanation that he had stopped a moment ago. He even slowed down the airship just so he could talk to Rean about his rune earlier. "Alright, let's continue. As I said, if you find anything that could lead us to enter the White Fog's center, you should report it immediately, and the reward will definitely be worth it. Now, in case you and up entering that place before you can warn us, all of you will have to use this."

Sami waved his hand, and many tokens flew everywhere, one landing in the hands of each expert in there. "Pour your Divine Energy inside, and it will try to locate an opening leading outside. Even though we aren't sure if it would work there, this might be your only way out, so don't lose it. Anyway, that's about it. We should be arriving momentarily."

They weren't that far to start with, so the airship entered the White Fog not long after. Rean and Roan immediately felt the Divine Senses of some Space-Time Realm cultivators, but none of them intervened with the airship.

The ship then made its first stop there at the outskirts of the White Fog phenomenon. Sami looked at two small groups at the back, telling them to leave. "Your supervisor should be down here. Go to the buildings raised on the ground and get your assignments."

Those two groups sighed but could only do as asked. Sure enough, they would be with the groups that won't get near the center because of their level.

Soon after, the airship departed and came to a stop several hundred kilometers later, leaving another group behind. This kind of stop happened another five times until finally, the airship reached the central area of investigation. Other than Rean's group, everyone else in the airship was at least in the Peak Stage of the Void Tempering Realm.

"Alright, this is where we part ways," Sami said as the doors of the ship opened one last time. "Get your assignments down there, and good luck."
