Chapter 3337: A Deal
Rean returned to his group, smiling at everyone. "As expected, being part of the Formations Guild and a Golden Formation Master made everything much easier. Do you find me amazing now?"
"I find you killable. Does that count? Enough bullshit, "Roan answered. "Let's just go out of the city and wait with the next team."
"Tch..." Rean clicked his tongue while seeing Rifindio, who was trying to not laugh. "Let's go then." As for Kentucky, he was laughing without a care, but it would be meaningless to try to stop the bird, so Rean ignored him.
Outside the city, there were a few locations where the experts were gathering near the powers they joined, with the Formations Guild being one of the main forces. Rean's group flew over, trying to join them, when suddenly, another group blocked their path.
"Excuse me, friends," A woman with a delicate smile spoke for her group. "Could it be you gained permission to join the investigation teams?"
Rean glanced at Roan, who just ignored the situation. 'Do whatever you want. We still have two hours anyway.'
Rean shrugged and turned back to the woman and her group. "That I do. Why?"
The girl was taken aback for a moment. She had talked to Rifindio, who had the highest cultivation in the group. She didn't expect Rean the be their leader.
Nonetheless, she quickly recovered, and her smile increased even more. "That's wonderful. My name is Emaniora. You see, my friends and I also want to join the investigation teams, but even though we know this region like the back of our hands, we aren't exactly that strong. That said, we weren't accepted by any of the forces that have investigation teams in the Valames City area."
She continued. "However, I see that you are moving to the departure location of the Formations Guild's teams. I also happen to know that the formations guild's members are allowed to bring up to ten assistants with them. Since your group seems to only have four people, would you mind bringing us with you?"
"That's quite a good way of getting inside," Rean nodded. "But why me and my friends?" Emaniora continued to smile, speaking truthfully. "Well, I'm the strongest in my group, but I'm only in the Late Stage of the Void Tempering Realm. My three friends here are still in the Initial Stage. If you look around, you will see that the Void Tempering Realm Peak Stage is the lowest level of most teams. Simply put, if we asked someone else and they allowed us in, there is a good chance they would make us take all the risks first once they were assigned their tasks."
Rean didn't need to hear the rest. Rifindio was in the Peak Stage of the Void Tempering Realm, but he was the only one. The rest of Rean's group were all in the Void Tempering Initial Stage... Well, Sky Void Tempering, but they wouldn't tell the girl that. "Well, it makes sense you would try to reach my group, considering only one of us is in the Peak Stage, which is the highest within us, while Peak Stage Void Tempering is the lowest of most of the other groups."
Rean also noticed that with his Divine Sense. Most teams were indeed focusing on strength first. There were plenty of Space Bending Realm experts. The few experts in the Void Tempering Realm or below were nothing but assistants or outright cannon fodders who just so happened to know the region around Valames City.
Rean wouldn't just accept that, of course. "But what can you offer to us? Your knowledge of the terrain, perhaps?"
"Yes," Emaniora didn't hide it. "I wasn't kidding when I said I truly know this region; we all do. We just so happen to be in four members, so each one of us can stay with each one of you. I believe that's quite a good deal since that White Fog spreads very far."
"Oh..." Rean got interested. "Tell us more about the White Fog. You speak like you had seen it before."
"We did," Emaniora didn't hide it. "Just as the phenomenon started, our group was one of the first to arrive there to investigate. The White Fog spreads thousands of kilometers further away from where the Valames City was located. However, only when you get closer to where Valames City was before will it impede you from getting any closer. If you force your way in, you will simply appear on the other side, missing the place where the city was supposed to be entirely."
"So you see?" Emaniora made her case. "There is still a lot of fog far away from the Valames City, and a proper guide will definitely come in hand in that poor vision area. Too bad we were sent out when the others arrived."
Rean pondered a bit, turning to Roan, Kentucky, and Rifindio. Even Roan had to admit the proposal seemed beneficial, and he wasn't very interested in Emaniora's group at first.
They discussed just a moment, and Rean turned back to Emaniora. "Alright, seems good enough. But... since you were already there and even got close to where the city was before, you should have found something good, right? Otherwise, why would you want to go back since you already know you can't enter the city?"
"This..." Emaniora didn't expect Rean to read her like that. Following Rean's words, Emaniora talked to the other two men and a woman in her group, and they nodded at each other. Only then did she talk to Rean and the others again, but this time through Divine Sense. 'You were right; we did find something good.'
Following that, she passed to Rean a small piece of crystal with a clear, white color.
Rean caught it, and immediately, he noticed what it was. Or, to be more specific, what it had inside. 'Starlight Energy?'
Roan also checked it with his Divine Sense. 'That's not all. It is pure Starlight Energy, just like the one we found in the Universe Foundation Fragments. It can be used by anyone without any
drawbacks.'
Now more than never, they did want Emaniora to go with them. "You got yourself a deal."
