Death... and me

Chapter 3321: Not That Simple

Chapter 3321: Not That Simple

Later in the guild, Rean arrived in the area where one could access the guild's database directly. Many other Formations Masters could be seen there, they all studying at the terminals since you couldn't bring the info out. Yet, several eyes turned in Rean's direction when he arrived there. This is still a fully connected world, so the news about what Rean did reached the formations masters of the entire guild.

Rean bitterly smiled but continued to walk, looking for his disciple. Finally, he found Zangeshu on a more concealed terminal, his hands on his chin and a pensive expression. "So that's where you were, Zageshu."

Zangeshu glanced at Rean for a moment before returning his attention to the terminal. "Oh, master... Took you long enough to finish the test, didn't you?"

Rean's mouth twitched. "That's because you didn't call me when you finished yours. I was just waiting for you to present your formation, and then I would make my own quickly. It was just an Energy Gathering Formation, after all. Yet, you left without saying a single word."

Zangeshu's eyes didn't leave the screen in front of him. "Well, then you should have told me to call you when I finished. You seemed to be in your own world, so I didn't want to bother you. Anyway, leaving that aside, take a look at this, master."

Rean sighed and nodded, approaching his face to the screen to check what Zangeshu wanted to show. "Hum... So you are already taking a look into the Divine Sense Runes, uh? Let's see, let's see... Oh! Now, that's interesting. If this conduit Divine Sense Circuitry Rune is capable of doing what it says, we can save even more Energy with our CDs."

"Exactly," Zangeshu nodded. "There are a lot of uses for Divine Sense Runes. The main one is that the Circuitry Runes made with Divine Sense usually have a better flow of energy and are harder to detect. Above all, you can even connect the Divine Senses of the same type between runes that aren't directly connected to each other, making some bridges."

"They are very interesting indeed." Rean had already forgotten the exam and was as delighted as Zangeshu as he looked at the runes. "By the way, I thought about a few changes for the CD, first..."

Rean and Zangeshu began to talk about their formations, Rean took the chance to also teach Zangeshu about more advanced techniques, and the two lost track of time.

Meanwhile, in the Tamers Guild...

"You have to find that Demon Tree!" The Guild Master bellowed to the various elders in the meeting hall. He was out when Kentucky and Rifindio appeared, and he had no plans to come back for at least another three months. Yet, when he received the message about what happened in his guild, he was forced to put everything aside and come back as fast as he could. He even paid for private teleportation just so he wouldn't need to wait.

"Tulax, I know you are upset, but we are already looking for it. Pretty much all our members are spread in and out of the city, searching for any clues. We will eventually find something," one of the elders, a man called Yugiji, spoke in a calm manner.

However, Tulax didn't seem the least bit appeased. "You don't understand, do you? None of you understand. You just have no idea what it means to lose that Demon Tree."

The elders looked puzzled. "What do you mean? We know it is a Divine Demon Tree, so we obviously are doing our best to find it. We also brought the other guilds and organizations in the city into it, offering them quite a handsome reward for the help. But even if we fail, that is our own problem. It is not like our guild will disappear because we lost the Parasol Tree."

"Hmph!" Tulax snorted. "I guess I can't blame you all for being clueless. This is a piece of information that is only passed from the previous Guild Master to the next. It is all so this news wouldn't go out. Unfortunately, it seems like I can't hide it anymore since the Tree was already taken away. Do you know how we ended up acquiring the Divine Demon Tree?"

One of the elders raised his hand. "From the records in the guild, we acquired a few seeds from a Divine Parasol Tree almost two thousand years ago. Chances were that none of them would become a Demon Tree, but surprisingly, one of them did, so we sealed it before it gained sentience."

Tulax nodded. "That's the story passed to everyone. No one doubted it since it made sense. We were just lucky... that's what the few who knew the tree was a Divine Demon Tree believed. Yet, I have to fix it now. We did now get the seeds as stated in the records. Instead, the previous Guild Master received that one tree when it was still a sapling. Also, he already knew it was going to gain sentience before he even put his hands on it."

"What?!" Everyone was taken aback. That was terrible news. The rules of the Universe say that one can't invade the Divine Demons' territories and capture the Divine Demons in there. That obviously included their young, even if it was just a sapling. "Are you saying senior Rhowilf captured it against the demon trees' wishes?"

Surprisingly, Tulax shook his head again. "If that was the case, it would have been a good thing. We could simply give the tree back later and pay some compensation. Unfortunately, it wasn't that simple. That sapling was given to Rhowilf by the Divine Parasol Trees themselves. To be more specific, it was given by Gian."

"Gian!" That name caused a chill to pass through the bodies of all elders present. "The one who is just a step away from reaching the Divinity Realm? Also the one that holds the position of our continent's representative in the Divine Snow World? That Gian?"

Tulax nodded. "That's the one. We have an agreement with him, and with the kidnapping of the Parasol Tree, things will become complicated..."
