With My System, I Can Even Tame Gods

Chapter 1125 - 1125: Sealed capital

In the end, the regiment commanders took charge in leading the adventurers in dealing with the monsters.

They said that this was because they wanted to make sure that the adventurers were doing their jobs properly, but in reality…

“There’s a small matter that the southern duke wants me to take care of. I’ll have to leave you in charge of my regiment during this time. Consider this your first real test. If you do well, I’ll be sure to mention it to the southern duke.”

The regiment commander didn’t seem to hide anything from Lin Fan about this matter.

Well, he hid what exactly he was planning to do with the adventurers from him since this was a matter that was kept secret even among the six factions.

Though all of them were heading to the same place.

After all, all of the regiment commanders were actually heading off.

They all left some of the newer royal guards in charge of Glory City while they were gone.

But of course, Lin Fan was the youngest that was entrusted.

There was no one from the same batch as him that was entrusted with the same responsibility as him.

Though to Lin Fan, this had a different meaning.

He already knew what they were planning since he had the information that Dungeon Core 563 sent him. It was easy for him to leak this to the Laver Empire’s spies so that they could watch over them.

Even if the Laver Empire’s spies already knew about this because this was a large move from the Adventurer’s Guild.

The only thing that they didn’t know was the specifics of the mission since this was something that had been kept secret. This was something that most of the adventurers that actually went with them didn’t know.

It was only because Dungeon Core 563 was a S Rank Adventurer that he knew where they were going.

This was what Lin Fan leaked to the Laver Empire’s spies.

The other good thing that came from this was the fact that the regiment commanders would no longer be in the city. This was the chance that Lin Fan had been waiting for to put his plan into action.

Though he didn’t start the plan right away.

Instead, he waited a day after the regiment commanders headed off.

After all, there was no telling what would happen, so it was best to wait just in case.

“Your majesty, are you ready?”

Emperor Kalos had a complicated look on his face when he heard this, but he eventually gave a nod and asked, “What is it that I have to be ready for? I want to at least know what you have planned.”

“Well, you’ll see soon.” Lin Fan said in a casual tone before turning to look out the window at Glory City under them.

The two of them were standing at the top of this castle, watching over the entirety of Glory City.

This was the place that Emperor Kalos’ chambers were, but it was better to say that he was like a princess that was trapped in a tower with his situation. It wasn’t that he wanted to be here, it was just that he was here because he had no other choice.

Emperor Kalos looked at where Lin Fan was looking, but he didn’t see anything special.

That was until Lin Fan suddenly raised his hand and gave a snap of his fingers.

As soon as he did, there were pillars of light that appeared all over the city.

These pillars of light quickly shot up into the sky and soon created a kind of formation all over the city. However, there weren’t just pillars of light inside of the city, there were also these pillars of light that formed outside of the city.

It seemed that there was no end to these pillars of light with how far they spread.

“What is this?” Emperor Kalos couldn’t help knitting his brows as he asked this.

Even if he was an emperor that had lost most of his power, he still had the ability to see through things like this. He could tell that there was a large amount of energy contained within those pillars of light, but at the same time…there was something strange about those pillars of light.

The feeling that came from them wasn’t the same feeling that he felt from mana.

It felt like a completely different kind of energy.

Lin Fan didn’t say anything at first as he looked at those pillars of light. The look on his face was as if he was concentrating on them, it was as if there was something that he was focused on doing.

After a moment of silence, the pillars of light suddenly started to change.

At the top of the pillars of light, there was this thin layer of energy that started to spread out in all directions. This thin layer of energy seemed to form some kind of barrier that was about to envelop the entire city.

But it wasn’t just the city that was being enveloped.

The pillars of light in the distance outside of the city were doing the same thing.

It seemed that they were spreading out in the direction of the city rather than in the direction away from the city. It seemed like the barrier from those pillars of light outside of the city wanted to connect with the pillars of light that were inside of the city.

With the speed that they spread, it didn’t take long before they were able to connect. However, even though they connected, it wasn’t as if they fully connected with one another.

There seemed to be layers to this barrier.

There was one barrier that covered the city, there was one barrier that covered the surrounding areas, and then there was one barrier that spread even further than that.

With these barriers, all of the land around the capital had been secured as well.

Only when the barrier had finished forming did Lin Fan let out a long breath as if he was tired.

Emperor Kalos didn’t say anything as he looked at Lin Fan with a complicated look. Though he had no idea what exactly happened, that didn’t mean that he didn’t have an idea of what was happening.

It was clear that Lin Fan was the one that manipulated those pillars of light to form this barrier around the capital.

After catching his breath, Lin Fan said, “This is the only way for your majesty to gain your independence from the six factions. Only by taking the capital and the surrounding area will you be able to slowly develop your power.”

Emperor Kalos still had the same complicated look on his face when he heard this, but eventually he said, “This is doing nothing more than taking the capital hostage. You should know that the six factions won’t allow this kind of thing to happen. If you do this, they will do all that they can to take this capital back. When the time comes, we definitely won’t be able to stop them.”

But Lin Fan shook his head in response before saying, “That isn’t necessarily the case.”

Emperor Kalos knitted his brows hearing this, but Lin Fan continued by saying, “It might be the case if they sent their best fighters, but that won’t happen. The six factions will never do something like that.”

Emperor Kalos didn’t seem like he agreed with this at first, but then his expression slowly changed.

It was as if he was slowly seeing things from Lin Fan’s side.

It was as if he was slowly realizing that Lin Fan was right.

And the reason that Lin Fan was right was simply because of one simple reason.

It was that the six factions had to be wary of each other.

Even if he were to do something like this, the six factions would never be able to use their full force to take him down. He just simply wasn’t important enough for them to do something like this.

If they were to act and something happened to their true experts, then the overall strength of their factions would fall. If the overall strength of their factions fell, then it would mean that they would lose their chance to fight against the other factions.

That was the last thing that they could allow to happen.

So in the end, they had no choice but to send only some of their forces to deal with this issue.

However, there was still a problem.

“Even if you take the capital hostage like this, it doesn’t mean that we’ll be able to take down the forces that they send to take back the capital. Just because they won’t send their full power, it doesn’t mean that they won’t send anyone at all.”

Lin Fan gave a nod as if he was acknowledging this, but then he said, “As long as you leave this matter to me, I’ll guarantee that none of them will be able to reach the capital.”

Emperor Kalos had a clear look of doubt in his eyes hearing this, but he didn’t say anything.

He just looked at Lin Fan for a while before slowly giving a nod as if acknowledging what Lin Fan said.

Just the barrier that Lin Fan created was already surprising enough that it was enough for him to give him a chance.

Lin Fan then said, “All that’s left now is to take control of the city. That will all depend on your majesty.”
