Once they were done with taking down the Crash Caribou and luring in the monsters, there was nothing left in this place for Lin Fan and Sirius.

So they were planning on heading back.

Or they had been planning on heading back if it wasn’t for something that suddenly appeared.

“What is that?” Lin Fan suddenly asked this question.

Sirius was caught off guard since he had been in the middle of saying something when Lin Fan interrupted him like this. However, after seeing what Lin Fan was looking at, he couldn’t help saying in a confused voice, “That’s just a normal deer, isn’t it?”

Lin Fan didn’t respond as he continued looking at the deer with narrowed eyes.

Seeing Lin Fan act this way, Sirius started to look at the deer more closely as well.

However, it didn’t seem like he was able to find anything off about the deer.

No matter how Sirius looked at it or sniffed it, it really seemed like it was just a normal deer.

But he could tell that Lin Fan didn’t think the same as he was still staring at the deer like that.

“How about we take it down if you think that there’s something strange about it?” Sirius asked before suddenly moving forward.

By the time that Lin Fan reacted, Sirius seemed to have already made his way over to the deer. When he landed on the ground, he raised his hands and claws appeared on them.

Even in this human form, he still used the same things that beastmen used to fight.

The deer was surprised to see Sirius appear like this, but then it suddenly did a strange thing.

Instead of looking afraid of Sirius, it actually looked right at him as if it was sizing him up.

Then before Sirius could actually approach it, the deer suddenly opened its mouth. However, it wasn’t the mouth at the bottom of its face that it opened.

Instead, there was a gap that appeared in between its eyes before its head completely opened up.

With the way that its head opened up, it was like some kind of horror movie.

After that head opened up, there were three things that looked like tentacles that came out of that mouth. But when one looked at it closely, they could tell that these weren’t tentacles.

Rather, it seemed like these were some kind of tongues that went along with this mouth opening that was created.

Sirius couldn’t help stopping, but since he had already been charging forward, it was hard for him to completely come to a stop. The momentum that he had carried him forward until it was too late as he was already in the range of the strange deer creature.

This deer creature didn’t hesitate at all to attack him, but it didn’t attack him in the way that one would think.

There were these strange tentacles that were similar to the tongues of this deer that came out of its body. These strange tentacles were the ones that reached out towards Sirius as if they wanted to grab him.

Before the strange tentacles could reach him, Sirius came back to his senses and swung his claws out at it.

There might have been quite a few tentacles, but they weren’t that strong in the first place.

Sirius’ claws were able to easily cut through these tentacles without a problem and he was able to keep them at bay.

The problem was that there were just too many tentacles for Sirius to keep away forever like this.

Even though he kept swinging his claws at the tentacles, it really didn’t seem like there was an end to them. It seemed like there would be more and more tentacles that would come forth to take the place of all the ones that he cut down.

In the end, there was nothing that Sirius could do as a pair of tentacles came from behind him.

It seemed that they were about to grab his arms and prevent him from doing anything else.

But before they could, there was this barrier of water that appeared around him.

“What is this?” Sirius said in a wary and confused voice, but then he realized who was the one that created this ball of water around him.

When he turned around to look at Lin Fan, he found that he had one hand raised that was pointing at him.

There was a grateful look that appeared on Sirius’ face before he looked back at the deer with a worried look.

Only when he looked back, he found that he had been worried for nothing.

The deer was also surrounded by this ball of water.

No matter how the tentacles tried to break free of the ball of water, it was cut down by blades that appeared. It seemed that the deer monster just couldn’t break free no matter what it tried to do.

After calming down, Sirius came out of the water bubble.

He found that there was no resistance at all as he went through the water, but it was awkward when he came out since there was nothing to grab onto which meant that he fell face first.

With his reactions, he was able to land on all fours, but it was a strange experience.

Once he recovered, he walked over to the deer and looked at it carefully before turning to look at Lin Fan to say, “What is this thing?”

Lin Fan shook his head to show that he didn’t know what it was either.

Seeing this, Sirius went back to look at the deer again.

Only the deer didn’t seem like it was planning on giving up as it continued creating more tentacles to attack the ball of water around itself. With the way that it continued to create these tentacles, it really didn’t seem like it was about to run out of them.

It seemed like it would be able to create infinite tentacles with the way that it was going.

Sirius revealed a strange look before saying, “It really is creepy looking.”

Lin Fan gave a nod of agreement without saying anything.

Sirius didn’t mind as he asked the next question that was also the most important question.

“What do we do with this thing?”

It wasn’t as if they could just leave this deer out here in the wild like this.

While Sirius didn’t know what this thing was, he at least knew that this thing was dangerous. It was clear that this strange creature presented a threat to the local area and leaving it out here like this would cause damage to the local wildlife.

It might even destroy the entire surrounding area if it was left to its own devices.

Since they had found it, they had to at least do something about this.

“Should we kill it?” Sirius slowly asked when he saw that Lin Fan wasn’t answering.

The moment that he said this, the deer suddenly stopped attacking the water barrier around it. It was as if the deer understood what Sirius said and treated this as a problem.

After all, it wasn’t as if the deer wanted to die.

Sirius saw this as well and he couldn’t help slightly knitting his brows.

He didn’t expect the deer to be this intelligent. It really seemed like the deer posed a large threat to the surrounding area.

But before he could do anything else, the deer suddenly opened its mouth again and let out this strange noise.

The moment that he heard this noise, Sirius couldn’t help covering his ears as his face winced in pain.

It was only Sirius that was wincing in pain like this, it didn’t seem like Lin Fan was affected by the noise that the deer was making. It seemed that only the sensitive hearing that Sirius possessed as a beastman made it hard for him to listen to the sound that the deer made.

He wanted to tell Lin Fan to take care of the deer, but he soon found that it wasn’t that simple.

There was rustling that came from the bushes all around them.

It seemed like there was something coming.

Before Sirius could even make a sound, there were tentacles that came from the ground under them. They came from all directions and seemed like they wanted to grab Lin Fan’s feet.

Lin Fan just simply jumped into the air while a layer of water formed under him that stopped all of the tentacles from approaching him.

But even then, there were more tentacles that appeared.

It seemed that there was nothing that could stop these tentacles from grabbing Lin Fan and wrapping him up with the way that they came. It really seemed like there would be no end to them as well as there were even more tentacles behind the ones that were coming at them.

“We’re retreating.” Lin Fan suddenly said before heading off in a certain direction.

Sirius didn’t seem like he agreed with this, but there was nothing that he could do as he was being dragged by Lin Fan.

Just like this, the water barrier that was around the deer disappeared and it was freed.

After it was freed, there were several other deers that appeared from the bushes.

The way that they acted around it was as if they were taunting it for being captured by the human earlier.

But after they did this for a bit, the deers all headed off in a certain direction.

It seemed that they were all going to a certain place.

What they didn’t notice were the pairs of eyes that were watching them.
