White Eagle Federation.
Borikri State.
Outside a barren wilderness, where light and shadow overlap, a gate materializes.
Clad in a black cloak, wearing a top hat and carrying a cane, Su Lu appears, dressed like a sophisticated gentleman.
“According to the prophecy, Sean should be nearby…”
He surveys his surroundings, a subtle smile on his face.
His main reason for coming here is related to Lady Moon.
The goddess, displaying her petty nature and direct hostility, is not someone he can ignore.
Being the one whose incarnation was destroyed, he must retaliate.
“Lady Moon’s status… She has been injured before and is currently recovering… Nevertheless, she, who rules over the River of Underworld, can be fully regarded as an eighth-rank True God. Wanting to retaliate… I must be patient.”“Apart from that… I may need a ‘Knight of Misfortune’.”
“But first, I need to observe.”
He is uncertain whether Lady Moon knows about his identity as Su Lu Pottery, as well as his relationship with Sean.
If she knows, then the dangers Sean is facing this time could be a trap to lure him out. He cannot act impulsively and instead, should avoid it.
If she doesn’t know, then the dangers Sean is facing are purely due to Death pursuing him. After all, his professional path was originally controlled by the Black Death Society. Perhaps the previous [Emperor of Disaster] was a subordinate of Lady Moon.
In such a scenario, Su Lu could easily exploit the advantage of uneven information between the two sides to score one over Lady Moon. This could satisfy his desire for revenge.
“Specifically, the demons should be aware, and Shewinado, who is also of the Demon Camp, should know that the ‘Spirit Lord’ is in fact Su Lu Pottery… As for Lady Moon, although she is also part of the Evil God Camp, she might not be subservient to demons and may not share information. Aren’t instances of Evil Gods undermining each other rather common?”
As Su Lu pondered, his gaze pierced the void, “It seems… I’ll bump into more than one familiar face this time.”
He adjusted his hat, and his figure slowly faded away.
…
Bogelie Town.
It is famous for producing Black Forest Berries and is a renowned high-end sweet sauce production base in the entire Federation.
Isaac, attired in a meticulously tailored police uniform, is holding onto a dog leash. On the other end of the leash is a dog sticking out its tongue, constantly eager to rush into the dessert shops.
“Hallock! Behave!”
Isaac smiles, “Once we clear up this case, you can eat all the sweet sauce you like… Mhmm, you’re not allowed to speak when there are people around.”
The second half of his statement was made in a whisper.
Soon, the man and his dog entered a secluded alley. The dog, unable to contain his excitement, said, “I just can’t resist the allure of those sweet aromas…”
“Yes, yes… so for the sake of good food, you need to work hard!”
Isaac felt life was truly wonderful.
After the public announcement of the Transcendents in the Federation, he, as a civilian hero, was recruited by the Federation and received substantial support.
For instance, he obtained the follow-up to the [Shepherd] path and was provided with corresponding resources.
By now, he was a fourth-rank [Beast Master]!
A Beast Master who could train various superhuman organisms and keep Hallock firmly under control!
Thinking about this achievement brought tears to Isaac’s eyes. At last, he was in control of his own destiny.
This was why, despite having tamed other superhuman creatures, he still always preferred to walk his dog.
“Also… you seem to have forgotten to address me as ‘Master’.”
Isaac proudly reminded him.
This was one of the reasons why he deliberately trained Hallock to speak.
Moreover, he firmly suppressed Hallock’s professional rank, such that the dog was now equivalent to a third-rank superhuman creature.
He had decided that, in this lifetime, he would never let his pet’s rank surpass his own. Experience had proven that it would be a disaster.
“At your service… Master.”
Wagging his tail, Hallock asked, “But… can I tell the future Mistress about the time you urinated at the train station in front of everyone?”
“If you dare, I’ll roast you, my silly dog, I swear!”
Isaac’s roar echoed through the alley.
…
A short while later, the apparently reconciled man and dog arrived in front of a uniquely decorated apartment building.
Isaac smoothed out his clothes and knocked on the door, “Is anyone home?”
“Who are you?”
The door opened to reveal a woman in her thirties. Dressed in a purple dress, she was beautiful but looked haggard. Her eyes were red, as if she had just cried.
“Federal Senior Police Superintendent – Isaac.”
Isaac showed his identification, “I am here to investigate the disappearance of the children in this town.”
Even though Transcendents were public knowledge, while on duty, Isaac preferred to use his other verifiable identity of senior superintendent. This prevented him from being gawked at like a rare animal.
In addition, due to the high distortion of black-and-white photos in newspapers of the time, unless they were his acquaintances, even if they had read his reports, there was no risk of being exposed.
“I’m Marisa, please come in.”
Marisa invited Isaac into the living room and poured him some tea, “Superintendent, please find Green. He’s only nine years old… Oh, my little angel…”
She took out a handkerchief, her eyes turning red again.
“Please rest assured, it’s our duty.”
Isaac felt somewhat heavy-hearted, “Please describe what happened in detail…”
“Green is my son, and he is very well-behaved… He must have been taken away by the evil Pied Piper.”
Marisa appeared agitated, “Everyone in this town can testify. And Angria from the Green family, little Marilyn from the Dove family… When they disappeared, they all heard the devilish sound of a vertical flute.”
“You… You must be a Transcendent, right? Under the circumstances where the town’s police officers are helpless, they asked for you.” Marisa held Isaac’s hand, “Please save my child.”
‘Ever since Transcendents were publicized, some suspect cases have been interpreted as having supernatural elements… But getting reported step-by-step and eventually resulting in my investigation certainly means there’s a high probability of confirmation…’
Upon reaching here, Isaac no longer needed to conceal anything. He asked directly, “Can I have some items related to Green? The closer he is to them, the better.”
“Items? I don’t exactly know your specific needs, but I can take you to his room to look around.”
Marisa led Isaac to the second floor, to a boy’s room.
“Good, I have a fairly decent police dog who might be able to help.”
Isaac let Hallock freely rummage inside the room, memorizing the little boy’s scent.
Then, he saw Hallock shove his head under the bed, quickly poking it and pushing out a… biscuit tin?
Watching Hallock thrust his head into the tin and eat voraciously, Isaac let out a roar:
“Hallock!!”
