THE FAIRIES I FLIRTED WITH IN THE GAME BECAME REAL?!

Chapter 555 - 555: Seven Hundred Years of Resentment

The mysterious woman’s voice carried a hint of confusion.

“In the Dharma-Ending Age, such large-scale serpentine dragons conjuring clouds to bring rain… are rarely seen in the world.”

“I only remember, a thousand years ago, there was a group of mighty serpentine dragons that rose to power, dominating a region. Those serpentine dragons, when they traveled, liked to summon wind and rain to accompany them.”

“Yet that lineage of serpentine dragons should have been extinct seven hundred years ago.”

“Since then, there have been no groups of serpentine dragons capable of affecting the weather in the world…”

The mysterious woman was baffled.

Such a wide range of cloud conjuration and rainfall meant that countless serpentine dragons must have been exerting their powers behind the scenes.

What could so many dragons be using their Divine Skills for?

The mysterious woman murmured to herself.

“…Since the revival of nature’s spiritual energy, this world seems to be becoming increasingly unsettled.”

The torrential rain washed over the expansive lake.

Ten thousand seventy thousand li south of the Refinement Demon Sect, there was a large lake known as Qingmu Lake.

Long ago, this place used to be a demon cave dwelt by serpentine dragons, thriving with vigor.

At that time, the Qingmu serpentine dragon clan dominated all around them, in all their splendor.

However, the upheaval that occurred seven hundred years ago had turned Qingmu Lake into a pool of dead water.

The perpetual rotten stench of black qi floated above the lake’s surface.

Even more so, the rotten and fetid lake water was devoid of fish and shrimp, with all life extinguished.

Even the bravest of mortals dared not approach the periphery of Qingmu Lake.

Legends said that the malevolent spirits of serpentine dragons roared within the lake, devouring every living person who dared approach Qingmu Lake.

No human habitation existed within a ten li radius centered on Qingmu Lake.

Even the wild beasts in the wilderness avoided the ominous waters of this place in fear.

Yet today, after the downpour had arrived in the world, a gaunt figure abruptly appeared amidst the storm.

Wrapped in a thin grey robe, it was unclear how he had appeared, as if he had always been standing there, with no footprints in front of or behind him.

The fierce, raging rain seemed to avoid him; his grey robe, even though in the midst of heavy rain, remained dry as a bone.

This mysterious thin man just quietly watched the Qingmu Lake in front of him, watched the black qi drifting on the lake’s surface, watched the still, dead water of the lake.

A hint of sorrow appeared on the man’s face.

In the next second, thunder tore across the sky above his head.

The booming sound of thunder echoed, and the blazing white lightning lit up the sky.

In the dark clouds above the man’s head, there could vaguely be seen a terrifyingly long dark shadow moving through the clouds.

That shadow seemed like a dragon!

The man in the rain whispered to himself.

“…Qingmu Lake, I have finally returned.”

He raised his hand, reaching out towards the waters ahead.

The howling wind swept past his body, causing his grey robe to flutter noisily.

His pale face under the tattered grey robe could barely be seen, along with his pierced, rotten, and corrupted body.

How could this be a living person!

That putrefied body looked more like a corpse that had been rotting for days!

As the man extended his right hand forward, the dark clouds above his head suddenly spun violently.

A giant serpentine dragon shadow, thousands of meters long, writhed into view in the clouds.

The bright white lightning continuously streaked across the sky, finally allowing a clear view of the dragon’s entirety.

But the dragon, its body covered in knife wounds, sword scars, with black, putrid blood dripping between the broken dragon scales.

It soared and roiled amid a blinding white lightning that illuminated its head, which turned out to be the remnants of a dragon’s head, missing a horn and one-third of its skull.

The putrid, decaying brain and its cavity lay exposed, unsheltered to the open air.

The dragon’s intact left eye, however, was void and dull, devoid of the slightest spark of life.

This ten-thousand-meter-long dragon was indeed a true corpse!

It had utterly ceased to breathe, entirely controlled by the grey-robed man standing below.

Whirlwinds, torrential rain, bolts of lightning, thunder… Qingmu Lake, which had lain silent for centuries, erupted into chaos at this moment.

Below the surface of that still pond, beneath the putrid, foul-smelling waters, seemed to lurk terrifying dark shadows roaming about.

The man in grey robes, standing amid the downpour, raised his right hand and let out a bellow to the sky.

“…My brethren, the vendetta of the annihilation of our Qingmu Dragon clan is about to be fulfilled!”

“Mother! At last, I have succeeded!”

“I have not failed your expectations, with this fragmented body, I have perfected your sorcery!”

“The entire Refinement Demon Sect shall pay in blood!”

“Our clan may be dead, but their corpses will slaughter the entire Refinement Demon Sect!”

In the roaring voice of the grey-robed man, the massive dragon corpse above his head suddenly soared down in a rapid dive toward Qingmu Lake below.

The ten-thousand-meter-long carcass of the dragon swept over the vast expanse of Qingmu Lake.

The dragon’s mouth, now bearing the blotches of decay, suddenly yawned open, and stream after stream of dim green light flew from its maw, falling into the great lake below.

With each streak of green light that entered the water, a muffled roar emerged from the lake, and a massive dragon corpse awoke from within the waters.

By the time the ten-thousand-meter-long dragon corpse finished sweeping over the whole of Qingmu Lake and returned to the grey-robed man’s side, the murky, vaporous lake had completely burst into turmoil.

The long-still dead waters crazily churned and surged.

Large, elongated dark shadows swam below water, as dismal, mournful dragon cries rose within the fog.

And then, one by one, massive shadows appeared in the dead waters.

A pair of vast, lifeless eyes, devoid of any focal point, surfaced amidst the fog.

These dragon corpses, which had slumbered and decayed under Qingmu Lake for centuries, were now all awakened.

With the last of their life’s resentment and rage, they howled mournfully toward the heavens.

In an instant, the violent storm spread and snaked outwards with tremendous speed in all directions.

The pitch-black clouds swiftly enveloped the land.

The entirety of the lands governed by the Refinement Demon Sect was shrouded in these dark clouds and the raging storm!

Within the cabin of the Flying Boat that flew swiftly through the storm, Li Muyang’s eyes flew open.

A flicker of inexplicable terror crossed his mind.

“…What was that noise?”

He rose abruptly from his seat and exited the cabin, stepping onto the deck to look out toward the south.

Just moments ago during his game, he suddenly felt a tight sensation in his chest, an inexplicable chill from the south.

He had faintly heard some kind of piercing scream.

Yet, by the time he reached the deck, he realized that all of it had been merely an illusion.

Nobody else but he had heard the bizarre, mournful screams.

And to the south, where Li Muyang gazed, everything seemed as usual.

The furious storm and torrential rain in that direction were indistinguishable from any other.

This part of the world seemed to be entirely engulfed by the fierce storm and torrential rain.

They had already flown more than ten thousand miles from Jiezhou City and were not far from the sect.

Yet, they had still not escaped the bounds of this tempestuous rain cloud.

On the deck, watching the torrential downpour from the sky, witnessing the bright white lightning streaking across the horizon,

Li Muyang’s face was grim as he murmured softly,

“…Seven hundred years of grudge, it seems,”

“the end is near.”
