Chapter 1740: Chapter 1597: The Mark Conveyed by the Undying Level
“Chu Mu, if you cultivate here, will your entire being completely transform into a Black Nightmare Demon?” Princess Jinrou asked.
The issue with Chu Mu right now is the overwhelming amount of negative energy, causing his body attributes to skew. However, this place is filled with these black demonic flames, which could further exacerbate Chu Mu’s imbalance.
Chu Mu was also troubled; he could feel an extremely pure black flame energy surging into him, making it increasingly difficult to control the demonic flames within his body.
The demon flames spiraling out of control was certainly not a good sign.
It’s just like White Three, who gained powerful Black Nightmare Demon energy within the Evil Temple, but if that power isn’t properly controlled, it would still cause immense harm to oneself.
“Chu Mu, look above!” Princess Jinrou suddenly pointed to the surface of the Black Sun.
Chu Mu looked up and suddenly noticed a pair of eyes appearing within the Black Sun!
The pair of eyes slowly opened amidst the fiery black flames, and immediately two intense black flames spewed forth from the distant black space.
The flames cut through the endless darkness and nearly struck Chu Mu directly.
Sensing danger, Chu Mu instinctively pulled Princess Jinrou to dodge aside.
The flames hit the wall of fire next to where Chu Mu and Princess Jinrou were standing, piercing through several layers of the fire barrier.
Both Chu Mu and Princess Jinrou looked nervously at the area where the flames struck. To penetrate the flame wall protected by prohibitions directly, this power was already incredibly frightening.
Chu Mu looked up again, his gaze fixed on the pair of eyes within the Black Sun.
Tongues of fire danced across the surface of the Black Sun, and massive fireballs occasionally rolled downward.
The temperature on the surface of the Black Sun was extremely high; even Chu Mu didn’t dare to ascend into it.
It was hard to imagine what could possibly survive on the surface of the Black Sun!
Each flame tongue’s power was nearly equivalent to Chu Mu’s full-strength fire skill, and at least hundreds of such black flame tongues were wildly intertwining on the surface of the Black Sun. The pair of eyes opened amidst the firestorm. Chu Mu couldn’t fathom the enormity of the entity, but its strength must be terrifying beyond imagination. Otherwise, how could it remain standing on the surface of the Black Sun, where even high-level immortals would be reduced to ash?
“Young Master, this is something we were not meant to see,” Fox Elder hurriedly said.
“What do you mean ‘not meant to see’?” Princess Jinrou asked, puzzled.
“The Black Sun represents the world’s origin. Its surface is constantly generating immensely violent space storms, black flame tongues, and dark destruction. No life form can withstand such power… yet the fact that there are eyes up there indicates that entity cannot be considered a life form,” Fox Elder explained.
“If it’s not a life form, then what is it?” Chu Mu asked.
“A god,” Fox Elder uttered a single word.
Gods—those who reach the Undying Level are called gods because they possess immortal bodies, infinite lifespans, and have completely transcended the cycle of life, aging, illness, and death.
Yet, among billions of beings, how many could ultimately cultivate to such a realm?
According to Chu Mu’s knowledge, there were only seven Undying Level entities: the Five Undying Legends, the ancient beast soul, and the ancient Jiao person. Each was a god in its own domain.
And the pair of eyes Chu Mu now saw—could it also belong to an Undying Level being?
Thinking further, if it wasn’t at the Undying Level, how could it possibly survive on the surface of the Black Sun?
“Is that entity the Eighth Epoch’s strongest one—the Day Black Nightmare Demon?” Chu Mu asked.
Chu Mu had already learned of the seven strongest entities from previous epochs, but information about the Eighth and Ninth Epochs’ strong ones was yet to be confirmed—or perhaps Chu Mu hadn’t reached a level where he could access such knowledge.
However, if he had to assign an identity to the owner of the eyes on the surface of the Black Sun, Chu Mu felt the title of the Eighth Epoch’s strongest being was the only match for the unrivaled Daylight Demon King.
“Perhaps. Young Master, look carefully at the space between the Black Sun and yourselves,” Fox Elder prompted.
Chu Mu extended his Soul Sense toward the area Fox Elder was pointing, suddenly realizing that the black space was remarkably strange—layer upon layer, appearing as if it contained multiple dimensions.
“What’s going on here?” Chu Mu asked.
“The Black Sun seems to be hanging above the Evil Temple, but in truth, the dark and fiery space between us and the Black Sun is vast. Even if Young Master flew for a month straight, he might not reach the Black Sun. Clearly, the Evil Temple serves as a spatial gateway to the Black Sun’s Third Realm of Kun. However, I remember that the true Black Sun should lie in the deepest part of the Land of Order,” Fox Elder explained.
“Young Master, consider this: those eyes were able to strike flames across such a colossal distance, piercing countless layers of space, their power presumably diminished along the way, yet still struck through multiple forbidden walls. That entity must undoubtedly be a creature of the Undying Level.”
In the Heavenly Boundary Monument on White Island, Chu Mu had witnessed the White Sea God’s power—a majestic display of an ocean engulfing the sky, leaving Chu Mu a profound understanding of the terrifying might of Undying Level entities.
Now, here he stood in an extraordinary place, gazing directly at a living Undying Level being. Just earlier, that god-like entity seemed to have noticed Chu Mu and Jinrou’s intrusion and sent two streams of power across immense space to strike here…
What would it be like to face such an entity directly?
Chu Mu looked up again, yet now he only saw the fiery tongues dancing on the surface of the Black Sun; the pair of eyes had vanished.
“The Eighth Epoch’s strongest being,” Chu Mu muttered to himself.
“Chu Mu, Chu Mu…” At this moment, Princess Jinrou seemed to have noticed something.
Chu Mu followed her gaze, and Princess Jinrou extended her finger, pointing at the flaming wall that had been pierced through earlier.
Chu Mu looked at the pierced wall but couldn’t understand why Princess Jinrou wanted him to pay attention to it.
“Is there something special about it?” Chu Mu asked, puzzled.
“Don’t you think it resembles a spell mark?” Princess Jinrou replied.
Chu Mu examined the punctured pattern on the wall. Adjusting his angle, he realized that the marks resembled a spell imprint.
Under normal circumstances, a direct force striking a wall would leave a large hollow area.
Yet, the holes left by the earlier attack were connected by flaming trails—these trails continued to burn, forming the outline of an unreadable spell imprint.
“Could it be that it wasn’t attacking us directly, but rather transmitting some kind of message to us through this method?” Fox Elder speculated.
“Transmitting a message? Using this means??” Chu Mu hesitated.
To send flames from an unfathomably distant place, crossing layers upon layers of space—was it really just to convey the information of a spell imprint?
But why would such an Undying Level entity want to communicate with them? And if it was truly delivering a message, what did this spell imprint signify?
“Let’s examine the spell imprint,” Princess Jinrou said, flying to the fire wall’s location.
With her unique understanding of ancient scripts and foreign civilizations, coupled with her magic spirit power, her mind-reading technique extended beyond decoding living beings’ mental information. She could decipher hidden mental speech embedded in spell marks, so she now focused intently on the fiery wall, attempting to uncover the message conveyed by the Undying Level being.
Chu Mu, unable to interpret it himself, simply stood quietly by her side, observing.
“It does seem like a spell imprint, but I feel as though I’ve seen it somewhere before,” Princess Jinrou murmured, thoughtfully placing her finger against her lips.
After pondering for a while, she extended her hand and began tracing shapes in the air before her.
Wherever her fingers moved, a stream of luminous spiritual radiance flowed like water, as if sketching on an invisible drawing board.
Princess Jinrou simplified and resized the flaming imprint, additionally rotating and repositioning it.
As Chu Mu observed the condensed diagram drawn by Princess Jinrou’s fingers, a similar imprint image flashed through his mind.
“This imprint looks somewhat like Array Valley,” Chu Mu remarked.
“Array Valley? The place where the Seven Sins Fox was burdened with the spell imprint of shackles?” Princess Jinrou asked.
“Yes,” Chu Mu nodded.
In the Thunder Field, Chu Mu had seen Array Valley consumed with lightning. Upon climbing to the mountain top, Mu Qingyi had discovered that the entire valley formed an imprinted diagram.
Similarly, in the Struggle Capital’s Yin Valley, the Light Array Valley likewise constituted a colossal imprinted diagram.
The spell imprint that Princess Jinrou had now drawn closely resembled the structure and lines of those diagrams Chu Mu had previously encountered.
“So it really wasn’t attacking us, but trying to communicate something!” Princess Jinrou said excitedly, though she soon furrowed her brow and pondered aloud, “But why send such a diagram over? Does it want to tell us something? Could it possibly not reside on the surface of the Black Sun, but instead be trapped there?”
Chu Mu’s mind was filled with the same questions.
The mystery of why the Seven Sins Fox became the Sin Fox remained unsolved for Chu Mu. He had anticipated that possessing the Light King’s Monument Cry might allow him to access its memories and uncover the secret. However, Chu Mu discovered he couldn’t view the memories locked within the Seven Sins Fox Monument Cry, and the Raccoon Elder had stated that only the true inheritors of the Monument Cry could do so.
Mentioning the Monument Cry inheritor reminded Chu Mu of the person he had glimpsed before passing out in the black hole. That person was likely the inheritor of the Monument Cry…
Who was that person??
