Chapter 3518: Profound And Unfathomable
Was there someone else? Old Salamander’s words shocked all who heard him. Just how many experts had hidden themselves in order to deal with the Third Boss?
The reality was that, as soon as they saw Lu Yin defeat Bao Qi, some experts had given up. However, there were still a number of powerful experts who could join the battle, and any who was confident in doing so would be an extremely formidable opponent.
A middle-aged man stepped forward from the direction Old Salamander was looking at. The man was staring at Lu Yin. "I am Heavenspire’s Wu Jin. This is a battle to compete for the position of Seraph."
People fled from the man. He was another competitor for the title of Seraph.
"Wu Jin? That name sounds familiar. My family’s records mention that Heavenspire once produced a mighty cultivator. He practiced a technique that honored the past while shaping the future, granting enlightenment to all beings. He was also known for collecting ancient jade. His name was Wu Jin."
"Wu Jin? What a good name! By the way, Brother, I have a piece of ancient jade with me right here. Every time I fall asleep, I dream of a stunning enchantress approaching me. Sadly, I have no luck and can’t hear what she says to me. Would you like to buy it?"
"Shut up, you damn scammer! Wait a moment, I remember now. Wu Jin from Heavenspire... He was sometimes called the Jade Hermit, and the records of him are from long, long ago. He’s a peak expert who should have competed for the title of Seraph at some point in time, but I can't recall when he participated."
"Then it’s been too long, which means that he’s another old monster."
"Why are all these old freaks popping up now? With their ages, they should have stopped chasing after the title of Seraph by now."
"It’s almost the Day of Offering. Becoming a Seraph now would mean participating in the next Day of Offering, which is a chance to see a different scenery. It isn’t impossible that these people still want to advance even further."
"I know a little about seeing a different scenery. After all, every time I dream, I see a beautiful enchantress approaching me. She’s so lovely that I truly can’t find the words to describe her."
"To be honest, I feel sorry for the Third Boss. If his timing had been different, or if he had challenged Bao Qi after the Day of Offering, there wouldn’t be nearly so many old monsters getting involved."
"Even if what they’re doing is despicable, the Third Boss isn’t from our Spirit Nidus. He’s still our enemy."
"True..."
"Brother, don’t go! This ancient jade..."
Lu Yin observed Wu Jin. Lu Yin truly had not noticed the man. He had hidden his aura, and he had done so with exceptional skill.
This man was another Dukkhan.
Bao Qi had fought many powerful experts to the death while competing to become a Seraph. Ultimately, he had achieved victory with the Cauldron Bell that the High Seraph had given him. Even so, he had refused to accept challenges to his title after gaining it, and he had called his former competitors mad dogs.
After Bao Qi had been defeated by Lu Yin, even more mad dogs had appeared, and they were even stronger than before.
Lu Yin would never believe that the High Seraph did not have a hand in this development.
Had all the competing experts already revealed themselves? That was not at all certain.
Abruptly, two people emerged from the void. They released powerful auras as they moved to stand in Wu Jin’s path.
The onlookers all paid attention. Had more experts arrived?
The two were Hu Wu and Tian Ya.
"Third Boss, leave this one to us."
Wu Jin looked at Hu Wu and Tian Ya with a solemn expression. While the two were only Ortusers, no one would dare to underestimate them. When they worked together, there was no doubt that they were capable of fighting against Dukkhans.
"Hu Wu and Tian Ya, when did the two of you ally yourselves with this Third Boss?"
Hu Wu sneered. "That’s none of your business."
Wu Jin's expression remained calm. There was not even a hint of any sort of anger.
Tian Ya stared at Wu Jin for a moment, and then he looked around the area. "Everyone here is besieging the Third Boss. Do none of you take the Grandverse Manor seriously?"
Old Salamander coughed. "This is a competition for the position of Seraph. Our actions have nothing to do with our loyalties."
Tian Ya smiled. "In that case, we also wish to join the contest."
"You've joined the Grandverse Manor?" Golden Roc snapped in a cold voice.
Hu Wu looked up, disgust readily evident in her expression. "Your golden feathers are too gaudy. I'll pluck them one by one later."
Golden Roc clenched his talons. "You're asking to die!"
"What about Yuan Qi?" Old Salamander asked.
Tian Ya looked back at the old man. "He will appear when necessary."
Old Salamander sighed. No one knew just how strong the Grandverse Manor's foundation was. It was home to the Tianyuan Megaverse’s top experts. If those people made an appearance, it would become practically impossible to deal with the Third Boss.
Lu Yin called out, "There’s no need for you to intervene."
Hu Wu and Tian Ya cautioned him, "Third Boss, Wu Jin is not an easy opponent."
Lu Yin clenched his scythe. "You don’t need to worry. I came here to challenge the megaverse’s greatest experts. Facing one more or one less doesn't matter. I want to see how many more of the Spirit Nidus’s powerhouses will dare to show up."
Hu Wu opened her mouth to say something, but then Tian Ya stopped her. "Very well. We'll stand aside, ready to support you, Third Boss."
Wu Jin shot into the sky to join Old Salamander, flanking Lu Yin.
Old Salamander looked down. "Is there anyone else? Everyone should act together. I feel that this Third Boss still has many things hidden from us."
The watching cultivators gasped. Old Salamander had to be wrong. The Third Boss had already undergone a visible transformation, so why was the old man claiming that the Third Boss was still hiding things?
Lu Yin also waited. He knew that several organizations had not made a move yet, and he was especially wary of the Phantom Reach.
That domain had used Lu Yin to eliminate several experts who had been expected to contend for the title of Seraph. It had become clear that the Phantom Reach also wanted to have their own candidates join the fray. If Lu Yin defeated Old Salamander and the others in the current battle, the available Seraph position would no longer be contested. At that point, not even the High Seraph himself would be able to stop Lu Yin from being acknowledged as one of the Seven Seraphs.
How could the Phantom Reach do nothing?
Still, Lu Yin had not sensed the presence of any other hidden experts.
He let out a breath and gripped his scythe tighter. A gentle shake caused the black and white mist to spread out in all directions. "If you won't come out, I'll force you out!"
Wu Jin barked, "Attack!"
The moment the man spoke, he threw a palm strike at Lu Yin.
This attack ignored any sort of distance. The moment the man launched the attack, Lu Yin experienced a strange sensation. Was this... the mortal world?
To continue the past was to open up the future, and it also involved contemplating all things.
This was Wu Jin’s cultivation method. He had actually cultivated the mortal world.
Lu Yin was shocked to discover that Wu Jin had chosen the same path of cultivation as Shao Chen, which was the mortal world. It was a path that was incredibly difficult to walk, but mastery of it would allow a person to become extremely powerful.
Most people would struggle greatly against Wu Jin's mortal world.
After all, even Shao Chen’s mortal world had been enough to force Bao Qi to enter Dukkha.
As for Lu Yin, there was no need for him to dodge—because, at this very moment, he was already enduring the backlash of karma itself.
What was the mortal world? It was the path that a person had walked in the first half of their life, the sum of both cause and effect. But karma superseded the mortal world, and the mortal world was merely a thread woven within karma’s grasp.
This strike upon the mortal world was fundamentally incapable of breaking through the karmic backlash—everything it sought to affect, every experience it aimed to manifest, was already bound beneath the dominion of karma.
Lu Yin stepped forward, clenching his scythe and slicing at Wu Jin.
Wu Jin was badly startled. How was this possible? How did his mortal world have no effect on this person?
The man hastened to dodge, but the scythe pursued him. No matter how the man evaded, the blade would still strike him.
Wu Jin’s mastery of weapons could not compare to Lu Yin's.
Old Salamander’s body suddenly transformed, and he reverted to his beast form, which caused his appearance to become a salamander’s. The beast’s tail swung at Lu Yin.
The scythe changed directions and cut at the lashing tail.
The beast let out a hiss as Old Salamander's tail was cut off. His blood sprayed across the sky, even as the scythe changed directions once again and resumed chasing after Wu Jin.
However, Old Salamander had slightly stalled Lu Yin’s attack, and that had finally given Wu Jin enough space to dodge the scythe.
Even so, the Dukkhan was quite shaken.
Old Salamander called out. "Be careful! His mastery of weapons is incredible. He fights as though he’s been tempered from countless battles. Do not underestimate him!"
Wu Jin had already felt that. Given the tremendous amount of time that he had cultivated for, he had fought against all kinds of weapons, even a scythe. However, he never felt so helpless before.
Lu Yin hefted the scythe again and struck at Wu Jin. Sequence particles rapidly spread out in front of the man, and they devoured everything.
The scythe slammed into the Devouring sequence particles. Lu Yin’s inner universe repelled them, and they scattered. As that happened, Lu Yin's consciousness surged, and it dropped down upon Wu Jin.
The earth trembled, and water surged upwards. "Four Waters Immortal!"
Nian Xian was completely disheveled, and he was panting heavily. There was even blood at the corner of his mouth. "I will hold his consciousness back!"
Wu Jin's eyes narrowed, and Lu Yin was momentarily shaken. Consciousness?
He had not expected Wu Jin to have also cultivated consciousness, and to the Celestial realm at that. The man’s consciousness was quite formidable.
While the man had succeeded in swaying Lu Yin for a moment, it was nothing more than that.
Wu Jin took out a piece of ancient jade and swung it at the scythe. The moment the two weapons touched, the scythe vanished.
One jade births a world. One thought, a lifetime anew.
Old Salamander’s sharp claws fell, aimed straight at Lu Yin's head.
Lu Yin had already lost his scythe when a shadow fell on him from above. At the same time, the Four Waters Immortal managed to hold back Lu Yin’s consciousness.
Three Dukkhans had teamed up against Lu Yin, and they had managed to force him into a passive position.
Everyone stared in disbelief. They simply could not believe that the Third Boss could defeat three Dukkhans at the same time. Even the most ancient of the Seven Seraphs, such as Emperor Wu and Zhan Ming, would struggle to do so. In fact, they might even find it impossible. A draw was the most likely outcome, though the Third Boss had already been fighting for a long time, and he should have been badly wounded by this latest attack.
Lu Yin raised a hand while locking eyes with Wu Jin. The younger man’s expression was eerily calm, which caused Wu Jin’s heart to drop. What is he doing?
The soil of Lu Yin’s Dust World appeared and quickly formed a massive landmass that cast an even larger shadow over the Umbral Deep. The continent loomed over everyone’s heads. The Wordless Heavenly Book shone with a blinding light, granting humanity’s legacy to the land that had appeared. The earth was below and the sky above, but then the earth was above and the sky was below. Flipping the Sky!
Old Salamander was stunned. "A comprehension technique..."
Boom!
The earth and sky both trembled as space started to shatter. The tears spread into the distance and out of sight.
For a moment, the entire universe seemed to shake.
Wu Jin and Old Salamander were knocked from the sky, and they both spat out blood when they slammed into the ground.
Only one figure could be seen up in the sky: Lu Yin.
Flipping the Sky was a technique whose power varied, as it depended on what soil was used to form the landmass. This time, Lu Yin had used the soil of his Progenitor’s world Dust World, and he had even strengthened it with Infinity and the Wordless Heavenly Book. While this combination had taxed even Lu Yin, success had resulted in the most powerful version of Flipping the Sky that Lu Yin had ever unleashed.
It had been as if he had flipped the entire universe.
Nian Xian had been resisting Lu Yin’s consciousness, but now, he also had to endure Flipping the Sky. Fortunately, the man had already been standing on the ground, unlike Wu Jin and the others, who had been in the sky. Still, that did not mean that Nian Xian escaped unscathed.
How can this monster actually have such a terrifying comprehension technique?
The entire Wisdom Domain fell silent.
Everyone had been stunned into silence. Just one use of Flipping the Sky had crushed three powerful Dukkhans. This Third Boss truly seemed to be going against the entire megaverse.
Mr. Li's expression fell. He had actually been considering joining the battle a few moments ago, and he was immensely thankful that he had restrained himself.
Further away, Old Yu was badly shaken. The Third Boss possessed enough strength to defeat the top contender in the competition for the position of Seraph.
In the other direction, Old Tao and the rest who were traveling with Lu Yin were similarly stunned. Every time that they developed an understanding of Lu Yin's strength, they had to reevaluate him. He was the Third Boss of the Grandverse Manor, which meant that he was the strongest expert from the Tianyuan Megaverse. Who in the Spirit Nidus could possibly compare to him?
Once again, Qing Yun felt the Third Boss’s unrivaled dominance.
As for Qing Xiao, the young man was gaping. His impression of Lu Yin had been completely shattered. This guy is just too freakishly strong!
