In comparison to Cloudflow’s reaction to the army that he had been appointed commander of, Xia Qin and Wang Jian were much more composed. Big Sis and Mu Shen took the two Progenitors to meet the twelve symbiotic corpses cultivators and the fifty members of the Scourge Occupation who were able to wield Progenitor-level destructive power.
Such numbers were within the realms of what they could accept.
While the Scourge Occupation had produced fifty people who could wield Progenitor-level destructive power, their strength was unstable. Whenever the members of the Scourge Occupation exhausted their energy, they had to return to the Scourge Occupation. And upon gaining more energy, they risked facing backlash. Even if there were a hundred such people, they would still be manageable opponents.
On the other hand, Xia Shenji found it difficult to accept what he was seeing.
His expression showed his disbelief. "This- what is this?"
Ce Wangtian stood in front of the other Progenitor, seemingly quite pleased with Xia Shenji’s reaction. "What do you think? Impressive, isn’t it?"
Not far from the two men stood eighty-two mechas, which Lu Yin had ordered to be built.
There were fifty ten-ring mechas, twenty eleven-ring mechas, and twelve twelve-ring mechas.
These eighty-two mechas possessed a combat power equal to a real Progenitor, especially the twelve-ring mechas. According to the Infinity Empire, these twelve-ring mechas were equal to their Pillars of Heaven. Not even the emperor’s Supreme had surpassed the twelve-ring level. These machines could compare to sequence powerhouses.
This army was even more shocking than the 112 black energy converters. How could combatants that were equal to sequence powerhouses compare to peak powerhouses?
Xia Shenji gulped. This was an absolutely terrifying level of power. Humanity was capable of producing fearsome strength, and yet most of the megaverse had no idea about it. This was also just what Xia Shenji had personally seen. He had been informed that four armies had been assigned to destroy parallel universes, and he was only looking at one of them. There were still three others.
If all of the armies possessed similar levels of power, then just how frightening was the Heavens Sect?
At that moment, Xia Shenji’s respect for Lu Yin was strengthened even further than ever.
Ce Wangtian waved his hand. "Let's go."
More than a hundred black beams swept through a universe.
Mechas filled the sky.
The power of peak powerhouses ran rampant.
Deep beneath the Immemorial Citadel, the Origin Progenitor stared on. Another sequence string had disappeared. More and more parallel universes were being destroyed as time passed. It looks like Pillar has started his all-out efforts to reduce the number of parallel universes.
The Origin Progenitor had no idea how many parallel universes needed to be destroyed to ensure that the Tianyuan Megaverse remained stable even after the sequence strings were released, but the man was certain that it would not be a small number.
If that task could be accomplished before the Spirit Nidus arrived, then even if the war was lost, the Tianyuan Megaverse would remain intact. The Spirit Nidus would then be forced to wait for the number of parallel universes to slowly increase until they were able to reset the megaverse. There would be a window of opportunity that was the Tianyuan Megaverse's chance.
Lu Yin was trying to forge a path of survival for the Tianyuan Megaverse.
It was likely that the war between megaverses would not end anytime soon, and if the Tianyuan Megaverse had no hopes of winning that war, then Lu Yin would be forced to destroy the parallel universes within their megaverse. He hoped that he would not have to use that option, but everything depended on how the invasion unfolded.
…
The Tianyuan Megaverse consisted of numerous parallel universes, but not all of them were aware of the Heavens Sect.
The West Mountain Dynasty’s parallel universe, for example, knew nothing of the Origin Universe.
They were ignorant of the Heavens Sect, Aeternus, and the Sixverse Association. They only knew about the parallel universes that were directly connected to their own universe.
The West Mountain Dynasty, as their name suggested, had a sun setting in the west as their emblem. They had not always been known as the West Mountain Dynasty, but their name had changed with the shifting tides of power.
Two major dynasties controlled their universe, which was not at all large. Much like on Earth, the sun rose in the east and set in the west. Thus, the two dynasties were named after the east and the west.
Whichever dynasty was stronger referred to itself as the East Mountain Dynasty, and they would be represented by the rising sun. The weaker one would be known as the West Mountain Dynasty, and they would have the setting sun as its emblem.
The West Mountain Dynasty had held this name for a long time, constantly being suppressed by the other dynasty, unable to change its name.
That had lasted until a few decades before, when the crown prince of the West Mountain Dynasty had mysteriously managed to raise a variety of insects and then overwhelmed the East Mountain Dynasty. In a short amount of time, he had destroyed the entire East Mountain Dynasty and unified the universe, ending the long-standing power struggle that had existed between the two dynasties.
The crown prince of the West Mountain Dynasty had then decided to maintain his dynasty's name, believing that it would bring them good fortune.
He was also not satisfied with ruling just one parallel universe; he wanted to control many inter-connected universes, becoming the eternal overlord of the cosmos.
He had also been confident that he could do it.
As he stared up at the starry sky that was filled with jade-colored insects, the crown prince of the West Mountain Dynasty swirled the wine in his glass. The sparkling, red, translucent wine looked especially beautiful beneath the night sky as it reflected the jade color of the insects. It was a breathtakingly beautiful scene.
Behind the crown prince stood several scantily clad women, each of whom stared at him with a mix of adoration and fear.
He had become a legend within his universe.
The two dynasties had been at odds with each other for countless years, and there had never been peace. After ages of such conflict, the crown prince had used just a few decades to eliminate the other dynasty and unify the universe under his rule. He had become invincible. His legend would endure forever in their universe.
"Leave," the crown prince calmly ordered.
The women left quickly. Once they were gone, the space behind the crown prince twisted, and a strange being emerged. They looked like seaweed, and there were long, green tendrils that floated about, twisting. The center was a deep black color, broken only by disturbing, white eyes.
If anyone else had been present, they would have recognized this creature as the symbol of their universe. Even before the two dynasties had gone to war with each other, this creature had been the sole symbol of the universe. It was their only god.
While the symbol and description had been passed down through the ages, the creature itself had never been seen, at least not until it appeared behind the crown prince.
"It’s too slow. It’s still too slow. Verdant Sage, can't the insects spawn a little bit faster?" the crown prince asked as he took a sip of his wine.
Behind him, the Verdant Sage that eerily looked like seaweed answered in a crisp voice, "This is already quite fast. Look at the sky. They are already able to completely fill this universe."
The crown prince smiled. "Yes, they fill the entire sky. It’s beautiful, isn't it? How are the insects progressing?"
"Some are powerful, but others have failed and been eliminated."
"I want stronger ones. The stronger the better! I want to sweep through one universe after another. Our universe is not the only one in existence. There are several others that are connected to ours, but they’ve developed too slowly. Some of them don’t even contain any intelligent life."
"Time passes about five times slower in those universes than in ours. If our universe’s time flow moved as slowly, you wouldn’t have been able to unify this place yet."
The crown prince of the West Mountain Dynasty sneered. "Five times slower? Those universes are simply unfortunate. With time moving so slowly there, only when this universe is no longer able to bear the insects because of their numbers will I start to conquer those other universes."
"You need to remain cautious. With so many parallel universes, there could be other powerful civilizations."
"No matter how powerful they may be, can they surpass me?" The crown prince lovingly held his Nest. It was beautiful, simply too beautiful. It shone with the brilliance of power, represented the symbol of authority, and held the color of conquest.
The crown prince and the Verdant Sage continued to stand in the palace, staring off into the distance. They enjoyed the view before them. It was as if they could see the entire universe from where they stood, and the whole thing was filled with insects.
A few days later, the crown prince received a report. "What? Anomalies have appeared in a universe connected to ours?"
"That’s correct, Your Highness. The astral phenomena in that universe has completely changed. Things have become utterly chaotic."
"What’s causing this?"
"We haven't figured that out yet. Everyone we’ve sent in has been killed, trapped within the celestial phenomena. The chaos covers a massive region and is blocking access to the rest of the universe."
"Useless!" The crown prince raised a hand and pointed a finger at the stars. Countless gigantic Lithic Drakes moved through outer space, slowly merging together to form a massive draconic construct. Tens of thousands of Lithic Drakes moved together to form a winding, sinuous creature that spread through outer space, much to the excitement of countless citizens throughout the West Mountain Dynasty.
They had previously seen this massive creature destroy the East Mountain Dynasty. It was a symbol of the crown prince’s invincibility.
"Follow it."
The cultivator who had delivered the report was ecstatic. "Yes! Thank you, Your Highness, for this grace."
Getting close to the insects was already an opportunity that would rouse envy in countless people throughout the West Mountain Dynasty. As for actually touching the combined might of tens of thousands of Lithic Drakes? Their combined might was as powerful as the rest of the West Mountain Dynasty combined. After completing his task, the messenger would be admired by everyone in the West Mountain Dynasty. He would soon rise to power, simply because he had touched the mighty dragon.
The crown prince felt satisfied. The more his subordinates revered his insects, the more they revered him. He enjoyed seeing how everyone looked up to the insects.
The messenger carefully climbed onto the Lithic Drakes. The creatures bent and then shot off in a specific direction, leaving behind countless envious eyes that belonged to the citizens of the West Mountain Dynasty.
The Lithic Drakes moved swiftly, and they quickly passed through a stretch of twisted darkness to arrive in another parallel universe.
The moment he arrived, the messenger riding on the Lithic Drakes was shocked. The universe had changed yet again, and it had become even more chaotic than before. At this rate, the universe would soon be destroyed. Just what had happened?
He pointed in a certain direction, and the Lithic Drakes carried him through outer space.
Soon, he saw a massive object in the distance. It was constantly destroying the universe, which infuriated the man. Where had this creature come from? How dare it destroy the universe! This place was connected to the West Mountain Dynasty's universe! "Stop!"
In the distance, a ten-ring mecha was continuously attacking. It was not easy to destroy a parallel universe, and it was even harder due to this universe’s extensive size. The mechas had scattered across the universe, and the pilots estimated that they would need several more days to complete their task.
Suddenly, an alarm went off in the mecha. A creature was approaching.
Within the mecha, Di Yan looked over, and his eyes bulged. Lithic Drakes?
The Lithic Drakes were rapidly approaching, still combined into a massive dragon. As they neared the mecha, the jiao formation fiercely swung its tail.
There was a bang, and the mecha was sent flying.
Di Yan almost lost consciousness. What terrifying power! Just one strike had cracked his mecha. This was clearly Progenitor-level strength.
The man on the Lithic Drakes was astonished. Had the giant survived? He was riding on the Lithic Drakes, the symbol of the West Mountain Dynasty’s invincible power. How had something survived a strike? What was this thing?
The messenger had not considered communicating with the giant. To him, how could different species… communicate?
Inside the mecha, Di Yan recovered and immediately sent a report to Ce Wangtian.
In front of the mecha, the Lithic Drakes were rapidly approaching yet again. They slammed into the mecha with immense force.
Di Yan's eyes started to blaze. Did these insects really think that they could overturn the universe? The pilot raised his hand, and his mecha did the same, firing a beam. The Lithic Drakes nimbly dodged before the swarm of insects lashed out with its tail again. This time, Di Yan was prepared for the attack. A spear had appeared in the mecha’s other arm, and it thrust forward.
There was a crack as the spear broke, but the Lithic Drakes were also stabbed in multiple places. The swarm scattered across outer space.
The mecha raised its arm again, and a beam blasted at the Lithic Drake, scattering more and breaking the massive dragon formation apart.
