Chapter 1203. The Demon King of Sunset’s Castle (23)

Chapter 1203. The Demon King of Sunset’s Castle (23)

I had no idea exactly how many times they had pushed the reset button, but it seemed like they hadn't wasted any time.

Most of the entities were probably broken, unable to do anything, so being able to react to them was limited. Amidst all this, the entity, whose order I couldn’t figure out, made the best possible move.

Actually, it was a breakthrough, not the best possible move. Excluding Lee Ji-Hye and Lee Ki-Young, there was only one person who could make an impact on the Dummy World and the system.

‘All we have is Commander Jin.’

Based on the situation, he was the only person who could pull me up to the surface.

The theory was that he pulled me out before the trash was emptied. I was sure there was a part of him that wanted to get back at Lee Ki-Young or play a game, but it was possible that...

‘It’s part of his contract...’

He had no qualms spending time on his hobbies, but he disliked doing things for free.

[The Boy Adorned With Earrings of Truth is calling you an idiot.]

‘...’

I wanted to call him out for his nickname, but I had no plans of acting out of place just because I was happy to hear from him.

I wasn't sure about Lee Ki-Young, but he probably wouldn't take it lightly if Flower Ki-Young ended up insulting him. Still, I was itching to say something.

‘I really want to say something to him.’

He had probably picked a random nickname to hide his identity, but did he really have to go with the word "boy?" Was he not embarrassed to call himself a boy despite his age? It was possible that he didn’t think much of it, but even Flower Ki-Young had a limit, which was twenty-three years old.

If I really wanted to do so, I could lower my age to nineteen, but being called a boy at that age was a bit too much, so what made him want to call himself a boy?

I wasn’t sure if he had crossed over here or if he was still over there, but if he had crossed over here.

‘Did he get younger in the process?’

It was a convincing reason.

If he hadn't entered with a demon visa, then he had to have received some sort of nerf on the way here.

The nerf could have affected his age.

‘But still...’

[The Boy Adorned With Earrings of Truth says that you should refrain from having any rude thoughts.]

‘...’

[The Boy Adorned With Earrings of Truth says that you don’t know anything. He asks if it’s any use to struggle with that dull mind of yours. He’s not sure who you've taken after, but he says you’re so stupid that it’s hard to keep his eyes open and watch.]

‘I knew it. He’s already making a fuss.’

Obviously, I could see how he was acting without even having to see him.

He knew I was a dummy, so he probably wouldn’t talk to me like he would talk to Lee Ki-Young, and he was probably mumbling while looking down on me.

He was probably talking in a condescending tone, mixing insulting remarks as if he were lecturing me. I was sure he was trying to relieve the stress that he had accumulated from the original.

I became even angrier that he was talking to me in that manner despite becoming a younger version of himself. My reaction was natural, as I had Lee Ki-Young’s ego in me.

‘His back... I want to stab it.’

The desire to stab him in the back was so strong that it felt like someone was giving me a hint. It almost felt like instinct.

‘How could I...’

Perhaps it was because I had never tried holding back before, but it was unnecessarily hard to hold back.

[The Boy Adorned With Earrings of Truth says he has no intention of showing you leniency.]

‘So annoying.’

[The Boy Adorned With Earrings of Truth says that he kept his promise and finished everything he had to do.]

‘I can’t hold it in.’

It was a deal, but for me, I was getting help.

Despite that, I couldn’t understand how he could be so annoying.

I had no choice but to keep trying to catch my breath.

‘Alright. I don’t know what it is, but he said that he kept his promise.’

He probably helped me with two things.

The first was pulling me out of the trash bin, and the other was probably...

‘Watching my back.’

I was sure he had opened a path for me to operate freely.

I probably would ask for the same thing upon getting discarded. At the very least, he was helping me avoid Lee Ki-Young and Lee Ji-Hye’s eyes.

I wasn’t really sure, but it seemed like he was confusing them with the automatic reports. The logs that Commander Jin had written ahead of time were probably going to be sent to them, and those reports were most likely full of prohibited words.

[The Boy Adorned With Earrings of Truth mumbled that talking to you any longer is a waste of time. He says that he neither has the obligation nor the desire to spoon-feed you, so it’s up to you from now on.]

I obtained a bit of freedom. Perhaps it was just me, but it felt like I could breathe a little easier. Just the fact that my thoughts weren’t completely exposed gives me more options.

[The Boy Adorned With Earrings of Truth mumbles that this is one time only.]

‘Yeah, one time is enough.’

If I were the enemy of the masked duo, I needed more than just one time, but Flower Ki-Young wasn’t their enemy. If they really saw me as an item to simply observe rather than something they needed to deal with or be wary of, I would need to investigate things. Of course, I couldn't really make any in-depth investigations.

'Okay, let’s establish some goals. A short-term and a long-term goal.'

The first thing I thought of was regaining full control of this body, but I realized that was impossible. It didn’t matter whether I gave in or not because attempting it was meaningless.

Lee Ki-Young knew his limits very well, and in Flower Ki-Young's eyes, he was basically a god. Everything was created by Lee Ki-Young, so erasing, copying, and deleting things were up to him.

It was unclear, but there was some kind of benchmark...

The Dummy World didn't have anything like the system that shaped this dimension. Right now, Flower Ki-Young was so weak that he couldn’t be protected by the system, and he also couldn't escape from the planned timeline.

‘If it’s done correctly, I might at least be able to take control of a body.’

I probably wouldn't be able to take this body, but I could probably take over another body. The Dummy World popped into my mind, but...

‘I’m not crazy enough to enter that hell.’

I couldn't remember anything about Dummy Hyun-Sung or Dummy Hye-Jin, so why would I go there and suffer?

Even if this event ended up going well, that world would still be incomplete.

It had limited resources, and it was also a distorted version of the continent.

It would be a huge problem if the admin completely neglected that world just because the dummies wanted to have control over it. All the data could work together to try to cover up the opening, but it most likely wouldn't end well.

The unpredictable nature of the masked duo, Lee Ki-Young and Lee Ji-Hye, was one thing...

‘Maybe it’s better to secure my position in Rohen...’

I would get the chance to do those things someday.

‘Not only that.’

There was no guarantee that all of this wasn't a scam. The pendulum had already tilted, but I couldn’t easily let go of the possibility that I was Lee Ki-Young’s split ego.

‘The problem is that there’s no good reason for it.’

I understood why they made use of Dummy Ki-Young’s ego, but there was no reason for Lee Ki-Young to intentionally split his ego. The things I saw and felt helped me realize that I was a dummy, but there was no justification for it.

‘No, let’s not obsess over it. I just need to focus on what I can do next.’

Just then, I heard a message.

[The Cursed Elf Queen of the Demon King of Sunset’s Demon Castle has fallen.]

“Y-You! Dirty humans! Kyaaaaaaaah!

‘They cleared it.’

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Ahhhhhhhh!

After the message, I heard loud cheers. At the same time, the plants pervading the garden died and withered.

The forest covered in dull greenery collapsed, and I finally saw the expedition members sprawled out on the floor. This battle was fiercer than any of the other battles. The priests were already exhausted... and most of them were severely injured.

Many of them were either dead or lying motionless. Some cheered despite being exhausted, but what stood out more was that they were taking care of the injured and the exhausted.

“Feed them potions!”

“Hurry up and move the injured! What are you doing?!”

“It’ll be fine. It’s all over.”

‘It’s not over yet.’

“Move the exhausted priests first. Does anyone have holy power to spare?! Take care of the ones in urgent need first! Hurry!”

“Hey! You there!”

“A victory with nothing but injuries, damn it.”

Obviously, the situation here wasn’t all that different either.

“Mr. Lee Ki-Young! Mr. Lee Ki-Young!”

Lim Chae-Ryeong was still crying. Nam Goong-Seon was already forcing her holy power into me, even though she was running out of it.

No Dam-Hye was still singing the Melody of Healing. Eventually, William and Woo Hyo-Yeol, who had greatly contributed to defeating the Cursed Elf Queen, Elena, made a beeline for me.

“How... How is he?! How is Mr. Lee Ki-Young...” William asked.

Heuk... I-I’m not sure,” Nam Goong-Seon replied.

“Lee Ki-Young... can you hear me? Lee Ki-Young,” Woo Hyo-Yeol said.

“Have you regained consciousness, Mr. Lee Ki-Young?” William asked.

It had to have been a really difficult battle. I could see it from the injuries all over them.

‘Looks like those two had decided to work together.’

It was safe to assume that, as they had jumped in together

‘I should’ve seen that.’

I decided to talk for now.

“...”

“Lee Ki-Young...”

“Yes, I... haa... haa... Mr. Hyo-Yeol...” I said with a strained smile.

“Mr. Lee Ki-Young...” William mumbled.

'By the way, I’m supposed to be dying, right?'

‘It must’ve looked like a legendary fight.’

Their reaction was different from last time.

Woo Hyo-Yeol, who was pretty calm, was frowning.

‘Are you crying?’

Meanwhile, William was crying with no intention of hiding his tears.

“I... haa... I’m okay,” I said.

We had won, but we didn't feel like it..

“I said I’m fine. Everyone...” I paused.

“...”

“Stand tall. Don’t cry,” I added.

“...”

“We won. Tell the expedition members that we won,” I told them.

Heuk... heuk...

“Don’t... cry,” I said.

Hiccup...

“Victory... It’s a victory...” I mumbled.
