Although the dogfights in the skies were intense and it was something that the Dashavataras had seen before, the true carnage was actually on the ground. The Rifle Mages purposely brought the air battles above a certain upper ceiling in the skies so that they do not have any misfires against the people on the ground.

By introducing a hard deck which was meant to simulate ground impact in their perceived fight, they did not go beyond a certain altitude to ensure there was no mixup.

Of course, this was something that the armies of Dashavatara did not care about. It was not something that they needed to differentiate but what they did not know was that because they were not respecting this so called hard deck that the Rifle Mages had implemented in their fight, they were subjected to firing from both the ground and from the top.

And even though it was considered to be a ground battle, there were still skirmishes done above ground and there were a considerable amount of Rifle Mages who were patrolling the lower portion of the skies to not just help out the ground troops but also the support the Rifle Mages who had taken higher up to the upper atmosphere.

If they had used this kind of technique against normal human mages, they might not have been able to withstand the pressure and breathing conditions that the Rifle Mages were attuned to. But considering they were fighting against the fishmen, it was nothing to them who had Celestial Energies…that was assuming that they had the Celestial energy to withstand the pressure.

Even though they had been buffed by Krishna's song of temporary or forced evolution and the existing fishmen were able to take more bullet hits than they were initially able to, it did not change the fact that the bullets were laced with anti celestial compound, poisoning their abilities to use Celestial powers properly.

If not for the fact that there were numerous targets blocking against the Dashavataras, the Rifle Mages would have taken the opportunity to snipe them down. The only one who was foolish to take it straight was Balarama, the Celestial Warrior Farmer and it seemed like he was suffering the consequences of his actions.

He thought he had been hit by some poison or power sapping curse projectile and assumed that if he circulated more celestial energy into his body, it was possible to overcome this poison.

And that was done by acting extremely recklessly against the Sea Fortress of Lyro. He finally did not hesitate to enter the premises of the Sea Fortress to destroy their rearguards and ultimately the Super Rail Gun who had been aiming him with a variety of shells. Something that he did not expect as well.

He thought that those artillery shells were of a standard variation but he soon experienced that there was a homing shell and a shrapnel one. He could not stand it anymore and Balarama felt that destroying the Super Rail Gun was the most important objective.

But what he did not know was that the moment he leap and broke the barriers protecting the Sea Fortress of Lyro and landed near the Super Rail Gun, he had already activated another trap. They might have been Rifle Mages but they were still mages of varying elements before they entered the military to accept the standardisation of military magecraft.

These Sea Hunters had popped up a trap sand barrier that encapsulated the entire Celestial Avatar inside of it. Obviously, it would have been easy for Balarama to escape from it considering that this sand barrier was not at a level like the ones Kurma, the immovable foundation had made for training.

However, the problem was that his restlessness and the inability to think, rushing into the enemy's territory without thinking what was happening to his body would make it to become his downfall. The Celestial Energy within him went rampant and he was not able to control it carefully, causing his body to rampage.

Not to mention, the sand barrier that had been set up was laced with talisman with anti celestial compound. The moment, the Sea Hunters activated those talismans, the anti celestial compound oozed out and filled the entire sand barrier.

Naturally, this significantly weakened the Celestial Warrior Farmer as he tried to fight against the rampaging power that was haywire and the Sea Hunters took the opportunity to slide their rifles into the flimsy sand barrier. With dozens of them surrounding the sand barrier, they simultaneously shot their rifles hitting every single human like vital part they knew of.

Like rats gnawing on a piece of living flesh, the shots hurt Balarama to the point he felt that death was inevitable.

It was not until a battalion of Celestial Warriors linked to Balarama decided to rush in to make an attempt to rescue their esteemed Warrior Farmer. But they had forgotten that, unlike the other battles, they had entered into a nest of sharks. These Sea Hunters would not let go of their prey now that they were within the Sea Fortress.

Surely, they could have managed to break the sand barrier, injuring a few Rifle Mages and grabbing Balarama out of it, but in return, hundreds of metal barrels were aimed towards them as they attempted to flee to the skies as their path of escape.

Bullets fly through them, injuring and ultimately killing the rescue team. At the same time, the shots also injured Balarama to the point there was no way for him to recover from it. Soon, Sir Alan saw the right opportunity and took his shot as well. Unlike the others, being the Leader of the Sea Hunters gave him the privileged access to premium bullets.

With a shot of a high potency bullet right into the head of the Celestial Avatar, Ress had finally score one Celestial Avatar.

It might seem like a victory for the humans since they had finally hunted down a leader within hours before dawn. However, what they did not know was that they had incited bloodlust within the remaining leaders of Dashavatara. That sudden loss of a link had hurt them more than ever and they had decided that this was a do or die battle regardless the outcome.
