"What the fuck, why do I have a freaking High Orc Chieftain right at the top of my isolation barrier?!" Jin grumbled as he came out of the basement and saw that his isolation barrier had the enlarged Bamboo Tree included as well. This meant that the High Orc Chieftain had either scaled up the isolation barrier, used magic, or had a pair of wings that Jin was not aware of.
"Argh, seriously this is such bullshit. I thought Kraft was supposed to handle them?" Jin said and surprisingly, Captain Hei was defending the Devil Fox by saying that this particular horde actually came from the North.
Even Elder Bai concurred as he stated that he could feel the bloodshed that was happening at the southern portion of the Bamboo Forest and it was not a good scene for the Bamboo Village if the Star Foxes were not able to hold.
"Fine, fine. I get it. Commando Mages. Please handle the High Orc Chieftain before he really destroys the isolation barrier." Jin sounded out in the communications channel and the Commando Mages were already on their way to do so even without their leader communicating these orders to them.
But instead of shooing the High Orc Chieftain with bombs and bullets, the Commando Mages used something more primitive due to its size. High tensile strength wires were imbued with magic so that they were able to drag the High Orc Chieftain away from the isolation barrier and let gravity do its job for them.
At the same time, while holding multiple wires and zooming in at different points, the Commando Mages also ensured that they planted sticky bombs on the High Orc Chieftain as he was being dragged by the high speed wires causing him to fall.
As they let go of the wires, the overly stretched wires instantly came together, wrapping the High Orc Chieftain in a bind and he was unable to remove himself from the bindings, enabling him to absorb the entire fall damage. The impact was more than enough to cause the stick bombs to explode, further injuring him as well as the Dune Shell Orcs who were within the vicinity.
The Commando Mages felt a sense of achievement upon making it work as they had been trouble luring the High Orc Chieftain away from the Isolation Barrier. But now that the immediate threat had been removed from the Bamboo Village turned Fortress, the cannons and guns that were grown by the fortress, were activated and they easily shot out of the isolation barrier.
Jin had deduced that the Bamboo ’Holy Tree’ had taken in the isolation barrier as part of itself, disabling the very identity of an isolation barrier. (Because it isn’t an isolation barrier if the people or things within it can be shot out of the barrier.) But at the very moment, it was working as intended other than the exchange of cannon balls and bullets.
This still gave the Bamboo Fortress some edge in fighting the huge horde that the Star Foxes had encountered in the southern region. The only difference now was that there was no use of forbidden magic when the Bamboo God Tree was throwing out a variety of autonomous mechas made out of bamboo to fight against the Dune Shell Orcs. In addition, the bamboo trees and shoots which had been turned into statues also turned alive and proceeded to fight against the danger that threatened to decimate the Bamboo Village.
However, that did not mean the Pandarians were actually excited or happy that they were able to fight toe to toe against these Dune Shell Orcs. This was because, they noticed that several Dune Shell Orcs, especially their leaders were carrying heads of animals as trophies on their belts.
It did not take long for the Pandarians especially those who had foreign relations with other villages to know that those were the heads of the beastoids in the Northern Region. Many lamented at their demise but they continued to stand tall against the threat now that their Bamboo God Tree was working hard to ensure that the Bamboo Village continued to survive against this absolute mess of a horde.
And with the High Orc Chieftain being cut away from the barrier, the Autonomous Bamboo Mechas were more aggressive in their attacks. Bamboo lookalikes of heavy metal spears and lances had been utilised to injure the High Orc Chieftain after the explosion while the heavily damaged Autonomous Bamboo Mechas self exploded as a magic attack, ensuring that it would stagger the High Orc Chieftain.
Simultaneously, the Rifle Mages who were using the Bamboo Fortress as cover, concentrated their fire at the behest of Royal Mage General Gara. The Pandarians also performed a few follow up attacks despite their numbers and they managed to injure the High Orc Chieftain.
But just as they thought that they might be winning, the smoke cleared from the High Orc Chieftain to see that he came out of it relatively unscathed. General Gara sighed as he could see that he was not unscathed but he had already grown back all the parts that he lost.
And with the recovery came the war cry to spur the Dune Shell Orcs to be more aggressive in their attacks. This resulted in the Rifle Mages moving their concentration of fire against the Dune Shell Orcs while the Bamboo God Tree continued to convert young Bamboo trees into warrior Panda statues and used them to fight against the never ending horde.
"I should go into battle." Captain Hei said as he saw the situation unfold right in front of him but Jin stopped him.
"You do not have to. At that level, my General should be able to give him some honour in his death." Jin said but Gara looked at Jin and shook his head.
"I suggest you get the Captain Panda to go for the offensive. I am your last defence, not your first striker."
"So… if I go to battle, you will come too?" Experience exclusive tales on .com
"Not exactly since you are ’plenty’ strong yourself. But I will promise to look after you if Your Majesty falls."
"Not very convincing…"
"Jin, let’s just give it a try. I think I did learn something when I was smithing the Bamboo God Altar." Mr Hammer said and Jin thought for a bit before deciding to enter the battlefield.
