"FIRE!" Kraft shouted with gusto and Jin already stepped on the pedal which caused the explosive shell to leave the tank’s barrel, moving towards the first Giant Demonic Spider that was closest to its firing range.
The thing literally exploded right in front of their eyes, splattering all its internal guts and innards all over the ground as well as the tank. It was at that moment, that Kraft also stepped on his pedal and rammed through the crowd of giant demonic spiders as a way since they were shocked by the death of their own comrade.
As much as the Sherman Tank could do damage to one single Demonic Spider, the enemy could do the same against the Sherman Tank as well considering its own firepower to be equal or superior to the tank’s counterpart.
Of course, it did not take long for the Giant Demonic Spiders to recover from their shock and they rushed to destroy the menace before it could do more damage to the demons. Yet another loud sound occurred, now splattering just one but four Giant Demonic spiders. There was no explosive effect but the legs and bodies were torn by the burst of force coming out from the barrel.
Jin had used something similar to a grapefruit shot, instead of just one shell that explodes on impact, it splits into multiple small shots that could effectively destroy nearby targets’ vitals. It was the most compatible weapon against anti personnel and also against the Giant Demonic Spiders’ little to light armour set.
Not just that, Kraft while driving had also started to use his own version of improvised smithing to merge the pistols with the tank, causing small crevices to surface from the tank shells that were able to fire bullets too. The only problem was that it was not firing bullets but instead flames. Yes, flamethrowers all corners of the tank and the source of it all was Kraft’s chi.
At the same time, the Devil did a 360 degree turn, causing the flames to rotate like a pinwheel, damaging every single Giant Demonic Spider that wished to come close to it.
At that point, other variants of spiders were also coming to assist as if there was a giant big brain controlling the horde of spiders’ movement. Demonic Spiders with Flame Resistance came to the front absorbing the flames and regurgitating them back to the tank. In short, Flamethrowing Demonic Spiders was doing the job of protecting the frontline killer spiders from the flames.
However, it seems that they have forgotten that the tank was not only spewing flames but the grapeshot fruits as well, and they were even more effective against the Flamethrowing Demonic Spiders since their armour was flame retardant but not ’pierce’ retardant. One shot of that grapefruit managed to kill 10 over flamethrowing spiders at once.
Meanwhile, to counter the flames, Jin and Kraft had cast ice magic in the tank interior itself. allowing them to fight the heat as well as cooling the tank down.It was to the point where ice armour plates grew out of the tank’s plate to protect themselves from the incoming flames while Kraft continued to spew flames out. The Ice Shields melted but at least it was not doing as much damage to the tank as the spiders would have thought it would do.
Perhaps at this juncture, the spiders knew that it was useless to fight with quantity and thus would be working towards quality instead. A smaller but sturdy demonic spider came flying from behind the frontlines and subsequently positioned itself to dive towards the tank.

Even with the fast response that Jin had, the grapefruit shot did nothing to deter the far incoming spider from diving towards it. This meant that the spider was heavily armoured where it could resist the kinetic energy of the grapefruit shot.
So instead of putting a piece of anti armour shell and firing again, which would not have worked in time, Jin merely used his magic to conjure out a huge metal blade from the ground and towards the spider. Unfortunately, it started to accelerate near the end, and the blade missed the target, causing it to smash itself into the tank.
"Oof!" Kraft remarked as he felt the crash through the tank’s armour. It was not literally breaking through a hole in the front of the tank and with a bit of quick third eye magic, the Fox was able to see that there was indeed a huge gaping hole in it.
It was then that Kraft decided to use his magic to heal the tank. However, before the Devil Fox could cast the healing magic out, he saw something, even to his standards, fairly horrifying. The Sherman tank grew out red transparent muscle fibred tentacles to grab the spider that crashed into it to pull it back.
The spider struggled but even more muscle fibres came out to grab it even more tightly and subsequently used it to mend the hole.
Plates regrew to cover the hole and the spider cries were ignored.
Jin and Kraft were astonished by the ’healing ability’ of the Sherman Tank despite the attempt the armoured spider had made and realised that this Sherman Tank was a beast of its own. Both had no idea how it happened and how Jin wished it to be this way when he was doing the improvised smithing but somehow this was the end product that they got.
A semi living tank that was partially capable of healing itself through the sacrifices/murders of the monsters or maybe even allies. Jin was not sure whether it was due to him and Kraft or it was the innate nature of the tank itself. He needed someone else to drive it in order to learn if this was the special ability of the tank.
If it is, it might actually make the fights against the Demons a little easier especially since one could see them to have such a high level of fighting capability. Now Jin understood why even Ress so called Mage Elites were not able to defeat their version of demon lords. The ranking of these demons was at least B and above and there were very few C Ranks monsters.
Surely the Elites should amount to A Ranks but if the demon were to send their hordes through, the Elites would definitely die from exhaustion too. But this will change with Jin’s introduction of advanced weaponry. Magic can still be used from the Wand Rifles but using bullets as an intermediary for their magic would no doubt be effective against endless hordes that they would be facing.
After all, Ress can only have that many soldiers she can deploy while Jin does not know the extent of the horde that the Demons have. If they are already throwing C and B Ranks into the fray and right outside of Ress’ isolation barriers, this means that the A’s are not that far off.
But the testing of this Sherman tank was about to come to an end. As much as Kraft and Jin enjoyed blasting the demons, this was more than enough for a field test drive. After all, killing 30-40 over demons with just one tank was already considered an achievement of its own.
Apparently, if Jin’s memories served him right, an Elite killing these many monsters in such a short period of time by himself could be considered the next Grand Sage.
So, Kraft had been ordered by the King to return back as he told the Commando Mages who were standing by to get ready for any leaks when the isolation barrier opened up. True enough, the spiders were dying to get in when the barrier opened even just enough for the tank to squeeze through.
The Commando Mages immediately dispatched those spiders with punitive force while the isolation barrier mercilessly cut a few spiders’ legs into pieces when it closed up. The test drive was considered a success the Ress Soldiers made sure those spiders died and burned them in case there were spores of the dead spiders causing breeding in Ress.
However, when it seemed like this was the end, Jin and Kraft did not know that there were actually a few people who had been spying on the northern border with utmost secrecy and persistence. "We need to report to our lieges about this moving magical relic that Ress had!" One of the spies said and the group nodded.
"They might be forcing people to work on this magical relic to make sure that they could fight against the demons!"
"Maybe even human sacrifices. You saw that tank suddenly coming out muscle like tentacles which looked like hands!"
"Are you saying that they dabbled into black magic? But just to fight demons? I think it’s more likely that they had used it to invade the other kingdoms!" Another said and the spies all concluded that there was a need to report back this vital information.
They believed that Ress had isolated themselves for a reason and with no news due to the isolation barriers, they were willing to enlarge this piece of information as big as they could to their masters. Perhaps, this might be the key needed to invade Ress as a group.
