Number One Dungeon Supplier

Chapter 2025: Hocoin, The Merchant Guildmaster

As they briskly browsed through the entire building, Jin was extremely satisfied with the Central Warehouse Tower that he had accidentally made. There were cold rooms, clean rooms, and rooms temporarily available for those useless paintings that the merchants could keep if they wished to. (But Jin wanted to take them out.)

It did not take long for Gara and Topharm to understand Jin had created something amazing. The additional amount of space was appreciated but more importantly, the freezing rooms were indeed the main attraction for Minister Topharm.

"As long as we have the crystals, we can maintain this... freezing temperature in the room without any mages?" The Minister for Research questioned and Jin nodded his head.

"That is why I purposely envisioned a large room to keep things cold. When you keep them cold, you would be able to preserve them and they can last longer without rotting. I assume you should understand that concept with the winter seasons?" Jin said as he showed them another room that was above freezing but of a low temperature, suitable to keep all the food items.

"If it is possible in the long term, all these kinds of cooling mechanisms can also enter into each individual household, reducing the reliance on the Central Warehouse Tower in the future too," Jin said and Topharm felt excited to hear such a development. If only he could take one and break it down so that he could understand the workings of these freezing mechanisms.

"Don't bother. Even in my world, magic was not able to play much of a part in manufacturing these freezers. Eventually, it's through collective human ingenuity that enabled us to do so... and erm greedy competition for money as well." Jin remembered how his well paid friends complained that even though they were happy to be researching things, there were deadlines, and that nearly drove them nuts."

And because of the new warehouse, the warehouse manager who saw the place was in shock. The merchant guild members that were handling the place were in the same position as the former persona as well.

And since it was in view for the entire Kingdom of Ress to see, the Merchant Guildmaster had to personally come down to find out what had actually happened even though he had an inkling it was something to do with the new King.

When Jin expected the Guildmaster must be some cranky old man, what he found out was that it was a child with huge glasses looking at him and scolding him even though he was the king. "What do you think you are doing? How am I supposed to find the people I need in such a short time to fill the gap you have created?

What about the Systems that are in place?" The boy complained as Jin realised he preferred a cranky old man to a prodigy child as the guildmaster.

"I sincerely apologise to you. As you can see on his collar is the merchant guild and he is, despite his height and youth, the guildmaster of Ress Merchants, Hocoin." Topharm introduced and Jin could already see that Hocoin was cracking his brain hard to give his orders.

"Don't you need a tour or something?" Jin asked and Hocoin sighed.

"Judging from the height of this Tower and the stairscase angle, I will say it's at least 40 floors depending on the nature of the rooms. And seeing how all of you smell and condensation on your watches, I could say there is some sort of cold room which would be useful for food preservation." Hocoin deduced and Jin clapped his hands slowly and lightly to send an applause to him.

"But this does not solve the problem. We might have more space to put items but they are all too heavy." Hocoin complained and Jin started pulling Hocoin by the collar and he immediately demanded Jin to put him down. Yet at the same time that he was complaining, Hocoin realised that there was the sound of contraptions moving.

When he comprehended that the lift, the lights, the air conditioning, and many other weird things that he had heard of were operating in this tower, his eyes started to light up and were already formulating what kind of resources were to be placed. The utilisation of the lifts was a major factor, not to mention all the trolleys as automated lines that enabled talking from one room to another.

The coordination that Hocoin thought was impossible might actually be workable with all these weird new 'modern' gadgets that Hocoin saw. This also made Gara curious whether some of those inventions or gadgets could be brought to the army for use as well.

"No rush. Those things will come but the first agenda for tonight is this." Jin said as he took out a water bottle from his storage watch. "We need water. And we need lots of it."

"We can capture water elementals to help procure water," Gara said as he knew that was the easiest way to have control of the amount of water Ress could have. This was one of the ways several villages in the deserts were used by purchasing a water elemental that was not near any deepwater wells or water springs.

"Lol, isn't that cruelty to the elementals? I heard one of them got taken advantage of so badly that the water elemental burst into anger and summoned a tsunami in the middle of the desert, consuming all the villagers' lives just for the sake of squeezing water for their hot spring attraction." Hocoin mentioned and Jin's neck recoiled backwards at the sound of it.

"No. It's more likely that I am going to create a water crystal capable of powering not just the needs of the fellow people in this kingdom, but also the agricultural farms outside of the walls and beyond. We still have quite a number of outskirt villages near the borders of our territory right?

I keep forgetting that beyond the walls there were people as well." Jin said and Hocoin could see the problem and advantages of this.

The river according to Jin would be cut off so that means the river would die out within the next few days because it's stale without any water running through. But with a water crystal producing the water, it will allow the river to run smoothly again without disrupting the current 'system' that nature and man had compromised to.

"Does your magic barrier interrupt rain flow as well?" Hocoin asked and Jin sighed while nodding his head quietly.

"Hmmm, if you think about it, it's actually not that bad. The sun's rays still go through. That means rain clouds can still be formed as long as there's water around." Topharm said and Hocoin rubbed his chin a little.

"If that's the case, then I guess, if you are able to mine out such a water crystal, it would be useful for you," Hocoin added and with a snap of a finger, there was a slight rumbling and the rest saw that Portal 5 and 6 had suddenly popped out. People were still working hard in Portal 4, cutting down the trees, getting the remaining corpses, and collecting the various herbs.

But they were not done after the collection of timber, since the prospectors were also around as they were also gathering people to work for food. Apparently, Jin had told the main stakeholders that people working would be entitled to at least 0.13kg of food per hour. No coinage was to be used at the moment if the goods were from the dungeon portal.

This was mainly because the value of these coins was seen as useless in a self contained state. Yes, they could still buy food with the current currency but Jin was looking to phase it out.

For now, payment was through food and most people were rather satisfied that they had meat on the table considering how meat was like a luxury to most people in Ress especially in these past few years as they were in a constant trade war with the neighbouring countries.

With food as the reward, there was no shortage of people as the prospector was hoping that once the forest had been cleared, the land would be mined for their soil, rocks, and other minerals if there were any.

Thus, with all that was left were the adventurers who heard about the portals from the kingdom's village to reach the main town. They were disappointed there was no job to do since when they reached, most of it was workers dying to have a slot in the portals.

Such a situation had changed with the emergence of Portal 5 and 6 which allowed the idle adventurers who were considered to be miners and diggers to finally have an opportunity to earn food for a day's work.

However, when they thought it was a forest landscape just like those Halfing Orcs, they were in for another shock. Because what the kingdom needs now is the items for a water crystal generator.
