Nantian Fengyu’s crimson eyes burned with cold amusement. “Surprised? The Divine Phoenix and I are one now. Your petty decrees won’t work on me.”
Ren Yuan chuckled, though his expression darkened. “How interesting. I always wondered why Yun Lintian kept you so close. Turns out, you were never just his senior sister—you were a vessel.”
Yue Yun’s grip tightened on her Moon Staff. “Enough talk.”
She lunged forward, her staff humming with lunar energy. At the same time, Nantian Fengyu blurred into motion, her body erupting in divine flames.
Ren Yuan sighed. “Persistent, aren’t you?”
He raised his hand—
BOOM!
A golden barrier materialized, blocking Yue Yun’s strike. But Nantian Fengyu’s flames melted through it effortlessly, forcing Ren Yuan to sidestep.
“You’ve gotten stronger,” he admitted, his tone almost conversational even as he dodged. “But do you really think this is enough?”
His third eye pulsed.
“Shatter.”
Space itself fractured like glass, jagged cracks spreading toward Nantian Fengyu and Yue Yun. The very laws of reality distorted, threatening to tear them apart.
Nantian Fengyu snorted. “Child’s play.”
She snapped her fingers.
Screee—
A colossal pair of fiery wings unfurled behind her, shielding both her and Yue Yun. The spatial cracks disintegrated upon contact, unable to withstand the purifying flames.
Ren Yuan’s eyes gleamed. “Truly magnificent. The Divine Phoenix’s power is as overwhelming as the legends say.” His smile turned predatory. “But tell me—how much of you is even left, Nantian Fengyu?”
Yun Qianxue’s breath hitched.
Nantian Fengyu didn’t answer. Instead, she raised her hand, and a swirling vortex of crimson fire condensed above her palm.
“Divine Phoenix Annihilation.”
The fireball shot forward, expanding as it traveled, its heat so intense that even the voidstone beneath them began to melt.
Ren Yuan’s expression finally turned serious.
“Reverse.”
Time itself twisted—
But the flames didn’t stop.
They continued forward, undeterred, as if immune to temporal manipulation.
Ren Yuan’s eyes narrowed. “Hmm?”
BOOOOOOM!
The explosion engulfed him completely, the shockwave sending Chun Yue flying backward. The endless abyss trembled, cracks spreading through the earth.
For a moment, silence reigned.
Then—
A figure emerged from the flames, his golden robes charred, his skin cracked and bleeding. Ren Yuan coughed, golden blood dripping from his lips.
“You… really are the Divine Phoenix,” he rasped, his voice laced with something almost like admiration.
Nantian Fengyu smirked. “Flattery won’t save you.”
“Hahaha!”
Ren Yuan’s laughter echoed through the battlefield as he wiped golden blood from his lips. His gaze swept over Nantian Fengyu, Yue Yun, Yun Qianxue, and Yao Xi with amusement.
“It seems that all of you have improved,” he mused, his voice deceptively light. “But don’t forget—I am now the true God of Heaven.”
Buzz—
His aura, which had been suppressed moments ago, suddenly exploded outward.
But this time, it wasn’t the radiant golden light of his Heavenly Decree.
It was black.
Darker than ink, darker than the void itself—yet threaded through with streaks of gold, like corruption seeping through divine power.
The moment his aura touched them, Yue Yun’s breath hitched. Her knees buckled slightly as if an invisible weight pressed down on her soul. Beside her, Nantian Fengyu’s flames flickered weakly, their brilliance dimming.
Yao Xi’s hands trembled. She tried to lift them, to summon her divine light—but her arms refused to obey. Even her Primordial God’s will was being suppressed.
Yun Qianxue’s frost energy, which had been circulating protectively around her, dissipated like mist under the sun.
Yue Yun’s eyes narrowed. “This… this isn’t just your power.”
Ren Yuan smiled.
“Chasm of Uncreation,” Yue Yun whispered, her voice heavy with realization. “This is Yin’s power.”
A slow clap echoed through the abyss.
“Correct,” Ren Yuan said, grinning. “Even if Yun Lintian were here now, he wouldn’t be able to stand against this. The power of the Uncreation—the power that rivals the Creator—is not something mere gods can resist.”
Yao Xi growled, her crystal-clear eyes burning with hatred. “You…!”
But she couldn’t move. Her body felt like lead, her divine energy draining away as if being siphoned by an unseen force.
Ren Yuan chuckled, stepping forward leisurely.
“Don’t worry,” he said, his tone almost playful. “I won’t kill you. You’re far too valuable as hostages.”
His fingers reached out, brushing against Yun Qianxue’s cheek. She recoiled, but her body wouldn’t obey her.
“Beautiful,” Ren Yuan murmured. “No wonder Yun Lintian treasures you so much.”
His gaze then shifted to Yao Xi, his smirk widening.
“And you… even if I hadn’t forced Yun Tian into a dead end, do you really think he would have accepted your love?” He tilted his head mockingly. “Why waste your devotion on a dead man? Why not become my woman instead?”
Yao Xi’s eyes blazed with fury. “I’d rather die.”
Ren Yuan laughed. “Such passion! But death isn’t an option for you—not yet.”
He turned to Nantian Fengyu, who was still struggling against the oppressive aura.
“As for you…” His golden eyes gleamed with intrigue. “A complete merger with the Divine Phoenix? How fascinating. I wonder—if I tear you apart, will the Phoenix survive?”
Nantian Fengyu spat blood, her crimson eyes defiant. “Try it.”
“As you wished.” Ren Yuan spoke with a smile as he raised his hand.
Just as Ren Yuan was about to strike, the towering World Tree behind them suddenly rustled.
Its emerald leaves shimmered, and a pulse of pure life energy expanded outward like a tidal wave, pushing against Ren Yuan’s black-and-gold aura.
The oppressive pressure crushing Yue Yun and the others lessened slightly—enough for them to breathe again, though they still couldn’t move freely.
Ren Yuan’s eyes flickered with surprise before he chuckled. “As expected from the seed of creation that the Creator left behind. Even weakened, it still carries a trace of her power.”
But the World Tree’s resistance wasn’t enough to fully repel him. The black-and-gold aura merely recoiled before stabilizing, still pressing down on them like an invisible mountain.
Ren Yuan smirked. “A futile effort.”
With a wave of his hand, an unseen force wrapped around Nantian Fengyu, Yue Yun, Yun Qianxue, and Yao Xi, dragging them toward Chun Yue, who stood obediently at the sidelines.
“Keep them under control,” Ren Yuan ordered.
Chun Yue bowed slightly. “As you command, Master.”
Ren Yuan then turned his attention to Long Si and Long Wu, who were still struggling against the suppression of his aura. His golden eyes gleamed with amusement.
“As for you two… your time has come.”
Long Si and Long Wu exchanged glances. There was no fear in their eyes—only determination.
“Protect the Primal Chaos,” Long Si growled, his voice strained but resolute. “As Yun Lintian promised!”
Long Wu roared, his draconic aura flaring weakly in defiance. “Even in death, we will not yield!”
Ren Yuan sighed as if disappointed by their stubbornness. “Pathetic.”
He raised a single finger.
A thread of black-and-gold energy shot forward—so fast that even Nantian Fengyu, still bound by his suppression, couldn’t react in time.
“No—!” Nantian Fengyu shouted.
