Two windows appeared in front of him, detailing the status of his two children. Ken’s eyes opened in surprise as he saw that both his kids had F-grade potential.

However, he shook his head and chuckled in the next moment. Perhaps it was for the best that his children had such a low potential. Remembering how much struggle he’d had to go through over the past 7 years, he realized it wasn’t for everyone.

There was a lot of sacrifice that went into training to be a professional athlete, something that he knew all too well.

“Happy birthday you two.” He whispered, smiling gently.

The sound of a camera snapping a photo rang out, snapping him out of his reverie. He raised his gaze to see a smiling Ai with her phone raised, “Sorry for interrupting you, but I wanted to remember this moment.” She said.

After hearing their mother’s voice, the two newborns began to get agitated. Kenji was the first to begin crying, quickly followed by his sister who seemed to struggle even harder than him.

“Looks like they’re hungry,” Ken said with a chuckle.

“Go take a seat Momma, I’ll bring them over.” The midwife said with a smile.

As the woman came over to relinquish the newborns off him, Ken reluctantly gave them up. He watched as they were taken over to Ai and began to greedily feed on her milk.

Feeling a little chilly, Ken put his shirt back on.

“When can we introduce them to our family?” Ken asked.

By now it was already close to 6 in the morning and to his knowledge, his family were still waiting patiently. He was eager to show off his new kids.

“We need to move out of the birthing suite first. Once they’re done feeding, we’ll take you there.” She assured him, “Then you can call in your family.”

Ken breathed out a sigh of relief and took a seat. He had pitched 7 innings the night before and had been up the whole night alongside Ai. Now that everything had come to a close, he felt the fatigue finally begin to affect him.

As he laid his head against the wall behind the chair, Ken nodded off.

Within the room, Ai heard the soft snores of her husband and couldn’t help but smile.

The older nurse scoffed, “He sure has it easy,” she remarked, rolling her eyes at the sight. “You just spent hours in labor, yet he’s the one who is sleeping soundly.”

Ai frowned, her irritation evident.

“Excuse me, my husband just played in the World Series last night, of course he’s tired.” She said coldly, cradling her two newborn babies.

To think that an older nurse would be the one to admonish her hard working husband at such a time.

The older nurse stammered before the midwife came in to save the day, “Dorris, why don’t you go prep the room Mrs. Takagi will be staying in?”

She quickly agreed, leaving the room a moment later.

“Sorry about her, ever since the divorce, Dorris has been a little jaded.” The midwife stated, giving a complicated smile.

“It’s fine, I’ll treat it as if it never happened. Thank you again for taking care of us.” Ai said sincerely.

“Don’t worry about it, It’s my job after all.” The woman said with a laugh.

Once the babies were fast asleep, the midwife helped them into a portable bassinet and led Ai to one of the recovery rooms. Ken was left to nap for a little longer.

He was woken up a while later and marched into the new room.

“Are you two ready to introduce your family to your babies?” the midwife asked.

Ken turned to Ai who looked like she was ready to fall asleep. If it wasn’t for the fact he knew that his family and friends were eager to meet their new babies, Ken might have refused to give his wife some rest.

“Bring them in.” Ai said with a smile.

“Mmm, don’t worry I’ll kick them out if they overstay their welcome.” Ken replied.

He was then lead out to the waiting area where he expected to see the others waiting. However, upon reaching the room, his eyes became wide as saucers.

“W—What the hell are you all doing here!?” he asked in shock.

Nearly all of his teammates were in the waiting area, many still in their uniforms from the night before. Samson, Jake, Adrian, Ryan, Rohan, all these guys were present, even some of the coaching staff.

His grandfather was the first to walk over, his expression worried, “How are they all? Are both babies healthy? Is Ai okay?” he asked, grabbing Ken by the shoulders.

“Yes… Mom and the two babies are fine. But they need to sleep, so if you want to meet Natsuki and Kenji, you have a small window.” He said.

Though he was touched by the fact most of his teammates showed up to support him, he knew that there was a priority of entry. He wouldn’t let the guys in until his close family and friend’s saw them first.

So with a steel heart, Ken pointed to a few people, “Miho, Daichi, Mom, Dad, Grandpa… You too Tetsu, Rohan.” After this, he turned to the others, “Hold tight, you guys can come in next.”

Just as he was about to turn and lead the others over to the room, Ken spotted a figure in the corner, asleep. He blinked a few times, unsure if his eyes were working.

Ryan Smith, the rival who he’d just beaten in the World Series the night before was currently napping with his head against the wall.

‘Ryan!? Why is he here?’
