“Little Cai? Where is your brother-in-law? Hurry and call him. Tell him that his niece has sent someone to bring him back,” the neighbour said to Xiao Cai.

When Xiao Cai heard the woman’s words, his eyes widened in shock. He looked at Mammy Cao and did not know what to say to her.

It was a good thing that his brother-in -law’s family had sent someone to bring him back but his brother-in-law was nowhere to be found!

Seeing the expression on the face of Xiao Cai, Mammy Cao realised that there was something amiss. She narrowed her eyes and said to Xiao Cai, “What’s wrong?”

Xiao Cai was startled when he heard Mammy Cao’s question but then he thought about Yu Fei’s disappearance for more than one and a half hours and gritted his teeth before saying, “My brother-in-law went to wash clothes at the small well but he had not returned till now.”

He paused and added, “He should have been back by now.” Xiao Cai was worried that Mammy Cao would not take him seriously and thus emphasised how long it had been since Yu Fei went missing.

Alarm bells started to ring in Mammy Cao’s heart, she sharply asked Xiao Cai, “Are you sure that your brother in law is missing? Maybe he went to his friend’s house.”

Xiao Cai smiled wretchedly before saying, “My brother-in-law and I have been ostracised from the day we arrived at this village. My brother-in-law doesn’t even have any friends, where will he go?”

Though he did not tell everything to Mammy Cao as he was yet to trust her, Xiao Cai still relayed the important things to the woman.

When Mammy Cao heard that Yu Fei was ostracised by the village and did not have any friends at all, her heart jumped to her throat but she still pretended to be calm.

She said to Xiao Cai, “Bring me to the small well.”

They would first check the small well in case it was a false alarm.

Xiao Cai pursed his lips, he told Mammy Cao, “I have already checked at the small well but my brother in law is not there. But I can still take you there for double-checking.”

Mammy Cao nodded. The two of them rushed to the small well, even the woman who came with Mammy Cao ran with them. She had a feeling that the village was going to be troubled tonight.

Sure enough, as soon as they arrived at the small well, they saw that there was no one next to the well.

Mammy Cao’s eyes turned cold. She turned to look at Xiao Cai before asking, “Where is your sister?”

As soon as she finished speaking, Mammy Cao’s face turned even cold. So this was what was going on here.

She turned to look at the women and said to her, “Tell your village head that if I do not see Master Yu Fei in less than half an hour, I will bring the yamen official along with the magistrate. Believe me when I say that my madam can and will stop the resources that your village is receiving if something were to happen to Yu Fei.”

Yu Dong was the one who was the main force behind the ‘help’ that Li Wan was giving to these villages that were suffering. And since the Imperial family was not willing to give any kind of disaster relief to these villagers, Li Wan and Yu Dong were the ones who were dealing with these matters.

Yu Dong was not unkind enough to target an entire village for a petty reason but if they had done something wrong to her family. They certainly have to pay for their actions!

Especially the village head who knew what his son was doing but still turned a blind eye to everything.

As soon as Mammy Cao finished speaking, the woman was left stunned. Stop sending the resources? How can that be done? They were relying on those resources!

Mammy Cao glanced at the stupefied woman and raised a brow before saying, “What are you waiting for? Do you want me to send a letter to my madam and tell her to stop the resources already?”

As soon as Mammy Cao finished speaking, the woman panicked and turned on her feet before running at the fastest pace possible.

While she ran she did not forget to tell others how the village head and Zhou Ziming had brought trouble for their village.

“Do you even know? Yu Fei is really the uncle of Yu Dong!”

“She actually sent someone to pick him up. Since the servant couldn’t find Yu Fei, she told me that if we did not find Yu Fei in less than half an hour, she would ask Yu Dong to stop sending resources to our village.”

“This time around, Village Head Zhou and her daughter have really caused quite a bit of trouble.”

When the villagers heard that the disaster relief that was being sent to their village might get blocked, they got frightened.

Damn those two idiots, of all the women in the village they just had to go after the one that they should have never touched! Now they could only hope that everything would be fine.

Because if Yu Fei was not found, then they would be the ones who would have to starve!
