Chapter 558: Storm VIII

{It’s looking like the end for the Oporto team!}

{They’re losing 4 : 2 in this game and added with the 5 : 2 from the first leg, it’s now 9 :4 on aggregate!}

{Six goals! That’s how many they need if they’re going to win this game and the chances of that happening look to be next to none!}

{It’s a goal fest and an interesting match for the neutrals and the Uventus fans, but a very depressing one for the Oporto fans}

{I think it’s safe to say that this match is out of their hands!}

{However nothing is confirmed until the final whistle so the Uventus players still have almost a whole half left to play until their progression is announced, but surely, this one is in the bag}

The Oporto fans, the players, and the manager were depressed by the commentator’s words, but contrary to how they thought they would feel, they were a lot calmer about it.

It seemed that deep down, they already knew how difficult the task of ending this game with a win was, and how slim the odds of such a thing happening was.

They just chose not to accept it before because they had hope, but even now, that little sliver of hope was gone.

It was not impossible for them to score six goals in the forty minutes remaining, but the chances of that happening with the Uventus players on the field, was as low as the chances of finding a snowball in hell.

It was over… they had lost, and they all accepted that fact and decided to just enjoy the rest of the game.

… Except for one person.

Mylo would rather die first than acknowledge internally or externally that he had lost to Jason and he kept playing like there was a way back for the Oporto team.

He was so overly enthusiastic that people who didn’t know what his motivation was thought he was someone who wouldn’t accept a loss till the final whistle… and that was what everyone but Jason was thinking.

The conversation Jason had with Mylo before leaving allowed him to know how Mylo truly felt and what his motivations and that was exactly why Jason kept acting like he did.

If he acted angrily, it would make Mylo feel like he was winning, hence Jason simply acted like Mylo didn’t exist.

Funnily enough, acting like that helped Jason to get over Sofia and Mylo’s actions quickly… well not like getting over, but more like suppressing it.

It was like a wound that still hurt, but since he had learned to move the injured part smoothly, he hardly felt any pain from the wound apart from a few stings every now and then that let him know the wound was still there.

His newfound joy with Adele was the one helping him with healing, but there was still a long way to go.

#59th minute…

Mylo’s over-enthusiasm about finding a way had only rewarded him with a yellow card for a dive he had made in the Uventus penalty box while trying to get a penalty.

Jason didn’t even bother hiding his laughter when he watched Mylo’s atrocious dive that couldn’t fool a two-year-old if he was made the referee.

The yellow card immediately came out when the referee ran over, not even bothering to check the VAR for the possibility of the foul being legit.

It was clear to see that the nearest person to Mylo was almost half a meter away from him when he went down.

It was a sight to see for everyone and even the Oporto fans were laughing despite their annoyance at the idiot’s antics.

A pass had been made behind the Uventus defense, but he was slow to react and couldn’t reach it, so he dived, but to everyone else, it looked like he dived unnecessarily as they felt that he could reach the ball.

In situations like these when it was clear to no one but the player involved that he was incapable of doing something, there was no way he would tell anyone what had actually happened and they would believe him.

In the end, the ball was sent back into the field and the Uventus team immediately launched an attack on their opponents.

It didn’t take ten seconds for the ball to make it into Oporto’s final third and Jason who was with it released a pass towards Ronaldo who in turn sent the ball forward to Chiesa who immediately unleashed the ball at goal with shocking power.

This time though, Marchesin wasn’t going to let the ball get past him and pulled off an incredible diving save, punching the ball out of play.

The corner was quickly taken after that, but after a header attempt by Chiellini that flew narrowly wide, the Oporto team were given a goal kick and Marchesin quickly used that chance to send the ball into the field and relieve some of the pressure on them.

The Oporto team were able to control the ball in the midfield and after a bit of a struggle, Viera found Diaz with a cleverly chipped pass over the Uventus defenders.

Without hesitation, Diaz beat Danilo for pace and sent the ball across goal without allowing it to touch the ground.

Mylo ran at the ball, trying to reach it, but De Ligt didn’t give him the freedom he wanted and kept bumping into him and tried to hold him back.

Since he didn’t want to be too aggressive so as to not concede a penalty, Mylo was eventually able to free himself and jumped at the ball, but he narrowly missed the ball and the ball kept flying until it was hit powerfully at the goal by Felipe Anderson, but Buffon pulled off a spectacular save and blocked the ball.

Mylo slammed his fist against the grass in frustration.

Nothing was going well for him in the game and he had missed enough chances that would have earned him and hat-trick.

When Jason got into the penalty box to defend the corner, he made sure to make some snide comments,

“You enjoying touching grass?” Jason asked with a smirk but was skillfully covering his mouth with his gloved hand so the cameras couldn’t see his mouth’s movements.
