The Great Wolves were not stupid. Aleksandra had made sure to work on the security system to make it as tight and secure as possible.
But now, people under her charge have been attacked two times.
If this was all, she would not really care. After all, being attacked was pretty normal in the supernatural community. Antonius, Natasha, and Fedora's father would instead be worried about a conspiracy if he wasn't attacked at least three times every day when he was younger.
The problem was that— those two attacks happened at the very moments the security was at its weakest.
Natasha grunted in acknowledgment of those words. Traitors were not impossible but knowing that someone from her pack or her father's pack may be traitors still hurt her very much and this negative feeling would feed the Wolf in her, giving it another edge in the upcoming battle between them.
"Haha… I guess they didn't care whether they succeeded or not."
This must be why they sent such a weak team after her family member. Clearly, rather than capturing Fedora, the goal was more to shock her enough and reveal the existence of a traitor to attack her mentally.
She didn't know who did this but…
'I will make them pay.'
Natasha walked away, her eyes shining with determination as she spoke those words, "I leave everything to you…"
She needed to rest and calm herself.
'Should I visit Adam tomorrow?'
There was only a little under 72 hours now before D-Day. Rather than wasting time in useless training, wouldn't it be better to spend time with the man she gave her heart to?
Even though she knew if she died, Adam would have to deal with the sadness all alone.
'I don't wanna be alone.'
She grinned sadly— she was truly a cruel and selfish woman. One like no other.
Though she knew her actions would hurt him, hurt him a lot even, her desire to see him trumped her rationality, making her loathe herself even more for her inability to control herself and her emotions.
'Perhaps I shouldn't go?'
She hesitated for a split instant, having a battle within herself whether she should follow her heart or not, but then her phone started to vibrate inside her pocket and she immediately put her attention there.
'A message?'
[Sender: Adam
— I am busy tonight but wanna meet tomorrow? Having an outing with your sister was fun and all but you are the one I wanted to spend time with.]
Her heart melted immediately as a large grin formed on her face at the words that clearly conveyed both concern and his wish to spend more time with her.
"It seems like you received great news."
Natasha immediately closed her phone but she could not escape the hug that Aleksandra gave her.
"Dear princess, how could I let you go out on your first date in a sloppy state?"
Natasha shuddered instinctively, knowing fully well that she was in for a few hours of preparation at the very least before she would be able to go out on the actual date itself.
"Is it even necessary?"
"My, did you know? Love is war and as a veteran of the battlefield, trust me when I say that there is no war that can be won without enough preparation. Also, imagine, you waiting for him, in a romantic place and when he finally comes, he becomes speechless and cannot help but praise your beauty."
"That… That would be pretty nice, yeah…"
Hook, line, and sinker.
Aleksandra laughed inwardly. It was time to doll up her little girl and transform her into the most beautiful woman in the world. And she knew how…

[????]
Meanwhile, In another place, an unknown individual received a call…
[The mission failed.]
"Hum…Well, as expected, indeed. Now, they should be starting to think about a
potential traitor in the midst of their group."
[What is your plan? Will you flee now?]
"Flee?"
A low chuckle escaped the lips of the speaker on the phone, their features completely hidden in the shadow and their voices deformed by some magical means of unknown origin.
"I have no need to flee. Soon, the plan will be complete. Though it's a little sooner than I had initially anticipated."
[Do as you wish. But do not forget our deal.]
"I won't."
—And so the communication between the two unknown individuals came to a swift end.
Now alone, the said traitor of the Great Wolves sighed to themselves before speaking in a slightly restless voice,
"Only 72 hours left and everything will finally come to an end."
What they had waited for so long would finally happen and for that— there was little they were not willing to do.
What would it cost?
"Everything."
And the traitor knew that they had it in him to ensure that they got what they wanted…
[Thursday — 6th December 2030 — 09:30 pm, Wild Hunt]
Currently, the Wild Hunt was in a state akin to maximum alert.
Sitting quietly in her office, Yui sighed and massaged her forehead, before looking at the clock on the wall with slight restlessness in her eyes.
"Is she still far?"
Standing close to her, Nikola merely shook her head before responding in a clear tone, "We found her car near the vicinity of K-Town. She should reach this place in around 20 more minutes at most."
"Twenty minutes, huh? Okay, what about the boys? Did you make sure to give them all a paid vacation for today?"
"Yes. The team is currently entirely made up of female members; as you have asked me to arrange."
"Honestly, even females are not entirely out of danger but better them than nothing. Remind them, however, to not stay alone with her. No one and I mean it when I say that no one looks at her in the eyes, no one takes any gifts from her, or does anything out of the natural boundary of a servant. As for you, stay in the control room and relay the orders to them… Never approach her first."
The more orders Yui gave, the more strained and tense Nikola became.
"Is she really that dangerous?"
It wasn't as if she didn't believe Yui. She was simply surprised at the tone of voice that her boss was using to mention merely one individual. She had never seen her behave like this, It was also the first time she was seeing Yui acting so carefully about just a single individual.
"Is she dangerous, you say?"
Yui looked a little lost as she repeated that sentence, seemingly mumbling to herself over and over.
"She is officially forbidden from leaving Los Angeles without permission from the Association and the high council. No high ranking members of the council will have a meeting with her if it is not through a webcam and even then she must keep herself behind a veil and covered at all times. She is also forbidden from setting foot in Asia, until the day she dies."
She smiled at Nikola before uttering in a bleak voice, "So, do you think she is dangerous?"
There was nothing Nikola could say in response.
The answer was more than evident…
