Sylas sucked in a cold breath.

This wasn’t going to be easy, not even remotely. He had come out with a lot of confidence, but the stats of this creature were beyond his imagining.

There was also something particularly shocking about its Aether. It felt like there was a tangible difference between it and anything that he had ever experienced before. ŔàŊȏBƐ𝐬

The fact that it was its only stat above 4000 was definitely not a coincidence. In fact, the fact it had so many 3999 stats also shouldn’t be a coincidence, much the same way the Violet Rose Heart had so many 2999 stats.

It had met a Gene-Stat Limit. And somehow, its Intelligence had broken free of that.

‘Does it have Gold Genes? Or is there something else I’m missing? No…’

Sylas had a feel for Genes most wouldn’t thanks to Extricate. He was somehow certain that the Glass Monkey didn’t have Gold Genes, but then how did it break its Gene-Stat Limit?

‘It’s Level… it crossed Level 40, another demarcating line.’

All of these thoughts came to Sylas in a whirlwind.

Even fused with the Basilisk King, most of his stats weren’t even half that of the Glass Monkey. In fact, they would still be wholly inferior even if he could use Fusion and his Scorpion Warlord Armor at the same time.

Sylas took a deep breath, his gaze gaining an eerie calm to it.

The Glass Monkey was too perfect for him. He wouldn’t be taking a step back here.

BANG!

A spiked pillar surged up beneath his feet.

Sylas was quick to react, sliding to the side and then pushing off. Distance was his kryptonite in a situation like this one. He couldn’t allow the monkey to set the tempo.

But at the same time, he could tell that this beast’s level of intelligence might be high, but its character was not.

It didn’t realize just how large the gap in their strengths was, so it was playing it safe, trying to keep a distance while attacking him from afar even though that weakened its power considerably.

Sylas knew why this was.

The beast was still traumatized from their last encounter. It had thought it was going to die after Sylas picked it up and threw it.

Ironically, it was because of its intelligence that it was making such a stupid decision. It wanted Sylas to stay at a distance and it was very hesitant to engage. But that was only because it was smart enough to recall their last battle even though it had happened months ago… and that was precisely what would give Sylas an opening.

A surge of glassy shards pierced toward Sylas from all directions, curling freely through the air and with a menace that should turn steel to shrapnel.

Sylas’ skin suddenly became a frightening shade of red as poison pumped through his veins. Icy, frosted air came from his lips as his body was suddenly overwhelmed by <Cryobane Elevation>.

BANG!

Sylas’ sudden acceleration caused the glass shards to pierce through nothing but air and themselves.

His Speed instantly hit a top level of over 2700 from the mere 897 it had been previously. The strain on his body nearly tore him to pieces, but the Glass Monkey couldn’t evade.

Its Speed and Dexterity might have been 3999… but what good was that when it had weighed itself down with all those appendages, afraid to engage directly?

The Effectiveness of its movement stats was barely half of what it should have been, allowing Sylas to close the distance swiftly.

With a leap into the air, Sylas’ fist flashed and a green-violet glow coated it.

The Glass Monkey unleashed a screech, a whirlwind of icy-blue sand filling the skies.

Sylas could feel its body deconstructing as it was about to flash to another location.

However, he was faster.

[Frosted Nightmare (FFF+) (Skill)] (Progenitor Mastery)

[The things that go bump in the night carry a Frosted edge to them, and your Will is their whetstone.]

[Cost: 1 Aether Unit AND 10 Will per second]

[Limit: Decided by every 10% gap in average of Will and Charisma]

A miniature, vaguely humanoid figure suddenly pulsed out from Sylas’ head. There was a frosty edge to it that wrapped around the Runes of the world, taking 71 Foundation Ice-Poison Runes with it.

Sylas sacrificed over a hundred Will and 10 Aether Units in a single bound, sending the figure piercing into the head of the Glass Monkey.

The creature froze as it found its Skill interrupted.

‘Not good enough.’ Sylas realized.

He was hoping for an easy victory since the Glass Monkey’s Will was so low. But when you were dealing with a King Beast… it was a completely different matter.

With Gold Madness Comprehension, Sylas had almost 10,000 average Will and Charisma right now. It should have been enough to leave the Glass Monkey frozen indefinitely.

Unfortunately… <Frosted Nightmare> was just an FFF+ Skill and the Glass Monkey had its crown.

Sylas could already see the counter coming as the Glass Monkey’s Bronze Crown was about to manifest into existence.

But he was ready.

There were many Skills that he couldn’t use at the same time because they occupied the same Aether Pathways. However, <Frosted Nightmare> and <Psychedelic Punch> were not among them.

<Madness Control> bloomed and Sylas’ power shot up by another 20%.

A Beast Totem appeared behind his head, hovering with a glorious light that pierced through the shimmering crystals that filled the region.

BANG!

Sylas’ fist collided solidly with the chest of the Glass Monkey. He drove forward with everything he had, unleashing every ounce of Strength into a single powerful blow.

A rattling pain shot up his arm and he felt several fractures form, but his eyes remained firm.

Unfortunately…

CRACK.

The Aether skin of the Glass Monkey just barely deformed before Sylas was sent flying into the distance.
