Chapter 1660: Chapter 1659: Divine Liquid Appears Again

Accompanied by an intense light, countless barely-perceptible light particles from all directions converged into the water droplet’s imprint. These light points made the glow increasingly radiant, but this brilliance lasted only a fleeting moment before dimming.

The candles in the room continued to burn quietly, and everything returned to tranquility.

At dawn the next day, Qiao Xiaomai opened her eyes. The sky outside was barely illuminated, and beside her, she could hear the steady breathing of Tong Sanlang, who was still asleep.

Qiao Xiaomai yawned and stretched her limbs under the covers, reluctant to move in her laziness.

Last night’s feast had ended quite late, yet she woke up on time today. However, the lack of sleep left her brain somewhat foggy.

Lying in bed for a bit longer, she began to hear the sounds of palace maids moving outside, likely bringing her hot water for washing up.

She was now responsible for Yang Wenxiao’s daily meals, and if she didn’t get up soon, she’d fall behind schedule.

Sighing inwardly, she allowed her consciousness to habitually sink into the space where she could retrieve that drop of Divine Liquid—a task she had made part of her morning routine, something done every single day.

Without much hope, she let her awareness entangle with the Divine Liquid, attempting to “pull” it as one might tug a radish from the ground. She expected the usual result—nothing—then planned to retrieve a cup of Spiritual Spring water to sip on instead. After spending the night on the heated brick bed, her throat always felt parched come morning, and she wanted to hydrate first thing with the spring water.

To her astonishment, the normally unyielding Divine Liquid, as immovable as Mount Tai, suddenly shifted. With one mental tug, the milky-white droplet of Divine Liquid separated from the pool. She froze, completely caught off guard.

At this moment, her consciousness instinctively withdrew as she intended to grab a cup for water. The instant her awareness receded, the Divine Liquid fell mid-air back into the pool, creating a small ripple on the surface.

“Holy crap!”

She cursed under her breath, quickly snapping out of her daze, and rushed to rewrap her consciousness around the droplet.

Again, the droplet of Divine Liquid emerged from the pool. It moved. It really moved. This wasn’t a hallucination. The Divine Liquid she had been hoping for over a year had finally responded to her.

Since arriving in this alternate time and space, she had only seen three drops of Divine Liquid in total. The first had been kept by Deng Chun and given to Tong Sanlang to consume. The second had gone to the Yang Family, used to cure the poison of the Hellflower. What lay before her now was the third drop.

The third drop had been unimaginably difficult to obtain. After using the second drop for the Yang Family, she’d spent over a year performing every act of kindness she could think of, trying to earn it. And even then, it took this long.

For a moment, her eyes grew slightly misty. Pressing her lips together, she placed the Divine Liquid into a small jade bowl before reaching out to pat Tong Sanlang on the shoulder. “Sanlang, wake up. Wake up.”

It was around the time when Tong Sanlang usually woke up. A light tap from Qiao Xiaomai was enough to rouse him. “What’s wrong?”

His voice carried the hoarseness of having just woken, with a hint of grogginess.

“Sanlang, I managed to retrieve the Divine Liquid.” Qiao Xiaomai sat beside him and extended her hand to pull him up. “Hurry and get up. After breakfast, you can take it.”

The Divine Liquid was truly extraordinary. The moment it appeared, the entire room would be filled with its fragrance. Since a palace maid was currently standing outside with water, there was no way to bring out the Divine Liquid in front of others. Consuming it would have to wait until they were alone.

Still groggy, Tong Sanlang was suddenly jolted awake by the news. He shot upright in an instant. “What?!”

“The Divine Liquid has appeared again!” Qiao Xiaomai whispered softly into his ear. “Get up quickly!”

The Divine Liquid, it’s appeared again?

Tong Sanlang was so overcome with excitement that he couldn’t resist extending his arms to wrap her in a tight embrace. “Xiaomai!”

Caught off guard and enveloped in his arms, Qiao Xiaomai’s body stiffened slightly.

Since their journey to Yuhu, she hadn’t been this close to his embrace for over a year and a half…
