Without hesitation, Azula retrieved the chain artifact from her belt. The dark, glowing links twisted like serpents as she cast them toward Zoller's form. The chains coiled around the body with a sharp metallic hiss, their energy sparking as they locked him in place.
But before the binding could fully activate, a single word broke through the tense air.
"No!"
Emery's voice was cold and unyielding, carrying the weight of undeniable authority. Azula froze mid-motion, her eyes snapping up to meet his. As Emery took a slow step forward, his towering presence loomed over her like a storm. Each step seemed heavier than the last, resonating with unspoken judgment. The primal energy radiating from him was suffocating, a force that made it impossible for her to ignore the gravity of his intentions.
Azula opened her mouth to protest, but before she could utter a word, Emery moved with swift precision. His claws, sharp and merciless, slashed through the air, slicing through Zoller's neck in one brutal motion, instantly killing the Major.
"You may take the corpse," Emery said, his tone resolute and final.
The weight of his words hung in the air like a thunderclap. There was no room for argument, no space for negotiation. His message was clear: Azula would not be allowed to exploit Zoller's for her schemes, something that could harm Emery.
Azula's face went pale as she stared at him, her body trembling. The realization dawned on her—Emery could see through her hidden motives.
Her knees buckled, and she dropped to the ground in a gesture of submission. Bowing her head low, she stammered, "My… my apology, master. I do not dare…"
The scene left everyone in stunned silence. Grand Magus Hulu and the five elves who had been watching the exchange stood frozen, their expressions a mixture of shock and disbelief. Hulu, his face contorted with fury, "You! What have you done to my Lady?!"Despite his injuries and dwindling strength, Grand Magus Hulu charged forward with reckless determination. Poisonous energy condensed in his palm, forming a deadly attack aimed directly at Emery. The magus's eyes burned with desperation as he unleashed his venomous strike, shouting with manic resolve.
Emery, now in his Primal form, stood unfazed. His towering frame exuded raw, his glowing eyes locked onto Hulu with an air of superiority as he effortlessly blocked the poisonous attack.
BAMMM!!
The impact was disappointing, barely a shadow of what Hulu might have delivered at its full strength. Still, the magus sneered, confidence gleaming in his gaze. His poisoned palm wasn't the only threat; with a swift inhale, he unleashed a breath of toxic miasma, a cloud so thick and vile it twisted the very air around them.
"DIE!!" Hulu roared.
Emery felt the poison seeping into his body, potent enough to devastate any magus. This was no ordinary venom—it carried the deadly law and cosmic power. Yet, for all its potency, the poison failed to harm him.
Inside his body, a voice chuckled with delight.
<This is great stuff! Give me more!>
It was Chututlu, the Khaos guardian within Emery. The entity gleefully absorbed the poison, savoring its potency like a fine delicacy. Hulu, oblivious to his opponent's immunity, pressed his attack with increasing desperation.
"How?! You are just a lowly Magus!!!"
Fear suddenly etched itself into his mind as he realized one undeniable fact: Syltrith, the assassin, was absent—most likely because she had already been defeated by Emery.
Unlike Zoller or Syltrith, Hulu was a lesser threat. His battle power lacked the ferocity of Syltrith's physical dominance and the mental resilience of Zoller's psychic defenses. Emery quickly overpowered him, weaving Elysian roots from the ground to restrain the magus's struggling form.
As Hulu writhed in his bindings, the five dark elf magus who had accompanied him realized the battle was lost. Without hesitation, they turned and fled. But Emery was prepared. His roots extended like predatory vines, snaring three of the fleeing figures. Two managed to escape, vanishing into the distance.
Emery glanced toward Azula.
"Go," he commanded, his voice sharp and direct.
"Yes, Master!" she replied without hesitation, her wings flaring as she took off in pursuit of one of the escapees while Emery let Livi out to chase the other one.
The remaining captive drew Emery's attention. A faint groan escaped Hulu's lips as he glared at his captor. "My Lady... what have you done!!" he spat, his voice weak but filled with defiance.
Emery couldn't help but admire the man's loyalty, even in the face of death. Combined with Hulu's skill in poison, the trait piqued Emery's interest. Rather than end the magus's life, he decided to make some effort to break his mental defenses and imprison him.
With Hulu subdued, Emery turned back to the lifeless body of Major Zoller. The man's headless form lay crumpled on the ground, but the chains Azula had used still pulsed faintly, restraining the Major's soul from escape.
Emery frowned. A light-proficient spirit master like Zoller would be a nightmare to deal with. Subduing such a powerful entity would take hours—time Emery couldn't afford, especially this close to the Citadel battle. Any mistakes or witnesses could jeopardize his entire plan.
From within the chains, Zoller's spirit flickered, his voice echoing faintly. "Please… spare me!"
Emery's face remained impassive. Dealing with someone like Zoller was too dangerous, and Emery had no intention of taking such a risk. His decision was already made. Channeling his spirit energy, he unleashed a devastating mental attack, obliterating the Major's existence.
A two-Cosmos Grand Magus died by his hand.
He glanced at Zoller's aperture within his corpse. Though the treasures inside were tempting, Emery knew better than to tamper with them. Even if he could successfully break the aperture open, any items he kept would create a trail of evidence—one he couldn't afford to leave behind. Instead, he resolved to leave it intact, letting Azula take the blame for her failure to capture him.
Soon after, Azula and Livi returned, each bringing a captured dark elf Magus. These prisoners, along with Hulu, were the remaining witnesses to the events that had unfolded. Emery probed the captives, identifying two with weak mental defenses, and focused his efforts on breaking their wills.
Hours passed as he worked, forcing the two to submit and swear loyalty to Azula. They would serve as witnesses.
Once the scene was thoroughly cleaned, ensuring no traces were left that could be traced back to him, Emery allowed Azula to return with the two dark leaves and Zoller's body to the main force. Meanwhile, Emery teleported back to the 300,000 civilians.

#### December Spoiler:
"My Khan… what of the savage Magus? Are we just going to let him go?"
The Red Demon cast a disappointed look as he said, "Another group has claimed him."
Azula's mind wandered. With all the other Grand Magus occupied with the battle, which group had been sent to deal with Emery?
