Earth's Greatest Magus

Chapter 2424: Valaryn Battle 3

The dark elves were shrouded in a thick veil of gray smoke, swirling ominously like a living entity. Draped in dark cloaks adorned with the distinct insignia of the Hasashi Clan, infamous for their mastery of assassination and espionage.

There were always some of them on each command and this particular time they had been dispatched with a singular purpose—to eliminate Emery. Among them stood their leader, a female grand magus whose very appearance embodied dread. Her aura was cold and otherworldly, more akin to a specter haunting the battlefield than a living being.

"I am Sylrith Moonveil," she declared, "And it is I who will claim you, savage magus!"

Accompanying her were twenty elite elven magus, each clad in the same ominous garb. Their synchronized arrival was not just a display of force but a statement—this was a hunt, and Emery was their prey.

The devastating impact of their arrival was immediate. The combined power of Sylrith and her elites shattered the protective spells Major Zoller and his forces had painstakingly woven, leaving them vulnerable. A wave of panic swept through the defenders as the oppressive weight of the dark elves' magic bore down upon them.

With astonishing swiftness, Sylrith surged forward, slicing through the battlefield like a streak of shadow. Her clawed fingers were enveloped in a sinister, grey smoke that writhed like a living entity, her attack aimed directly like an arrow.

"What terrifying speed!"

With his spatial magic disrupted, Emery was forced to cast his [Soaring Light Wings], their radiant energy propelling him through the battlefield. However, the grey smoke conjured by the elf grand magus was no ordinary mist—it coiled and thickened around him, turning the very air into a heavy, oppressive force. Every movement felt sluggish, and his speed was dramatically reduced by the unnatural pressure.

"Urgh!!, a restraining spell!!"

Seeing no escape, Emery quickly summoned his [Aegis of Void]. The shimmering barrier of translucent energy formed just in time to intercept the incoming attack.

BAMM!!

The grand magus's clawed strike shattered the protective shield with terrifying ease, sending shockwaves rippling through the battlefield. Before Emery could recover, her claw pierced into his shoulder, its sharp, dagger-like fingers sinking deep into his flesh. A wave of searing pain shot through his body as the pressure intensified, locking him in place.

Despite the agony, Emery reacted swiftly. He channeled his spirit energy into a focused counterattack, unleashing his [Spectral Gaze]. The ethereal force struck the grand magus directly, her assault momentarily halted as her senses reeled under the mental attack.

Seizing the opportunity, Emery activated his [Immortal Gate]. A surge of primal strength coursed through his body, his muscles bulging as he wrenched himself free from her grasp with a powerful burst of motion. Blood stained his shoulder, but he ignored it, focusing solely on his escape.

With a quick beat of his wings, Emery shot toward Major Zoller and landed just behind the Major, his voice laced with both urgency and a touch of humor.

"Good thing you're here, Major. I'll leave her to you... I have civilians to save!"

"What?!" Zoller exclaimed, spinning around in disbelief.

Before the Major could voice his objections, the elven grand magus was already closing in, her wrath palpable. Her long claws gleamed as she struck again, forcing Zoller to shift his attention. Gritting his teeth, he raised his arm, swiftly casting a light-based defensive spell to intercept the attack.

BAAAMM!!

A radiant barrier shattered around him, barely absorbing the furious assault of Sylrith's strike. Zoller's loyal men sprang into action, leaping forward to engage the approaching dark elves, while Sylrith's elite forces advanced in unison.

Amid the chaos, half of the Hasashi magus forces managed to break through the defensive line. Their goal was clear: reach Emery and ensure there was no escape.

But Emery stood resolute, his mind sharp and unfazed by the encroaching threat. With a subtle gesture, he called upon his trusted allies.

First was Twik, the humanoid plant creature. His bark-like body was as durable as enchanted steel, and his formidable roots surged like writhing serpents, entangling the elven assassins and halting their advance. On the other flank was Livi, the Baphomet. Her form flickered between corporeal and shadow, slipping through attacks with supernatural grace. She was an enigma to her opponents, disappearing into the dim haze of the battlefield only to reappear behind them, her strikes swift and merciless.

Together, Twik and Livi turned what could have been a fatal confrontation into a standstill. With his flanks secured by his formidable companions, Emery shifted his focus to the carnage unfolding ahead. The chaotic battlefield stretched before him like a vision of despair. The protective spells that had kept the orc horde at bay were collapsing. Freed from their magical confines, the orcs resumed their brutal rampage, their guttural roars mingling with the terrified screams of their victims.

Emery acted swiftly. Dropping to one knee, he pressed both hands firmly onto the blood-soaked sand. The air around him surged with magical energy as he called upon the power of nature. Moments later, the ground trembled and split open, and from its depths erupted a writhing mass of roots.

The roots spread like a tidal wave, snaking across the battlefield with terrifying speed. They coiled around the nearest orcs, binding their limbs with unrelenting force. In mere seconds, hundreds of the orcs were ensnared, and their violent rampage abruptly halted. The roots continued their work, saving countless civilians from certain deaths.

But Emery wasn't done. The roots didn't remain lifeless restraints; they began to change. Thin green shoots sprouted from their lengths, growing at an impossible rate. Leaves unfurled in vibrant shades of emerald, followed by the sudden bloom of flowers—dark purple and unnervingly ominous.

The sea of blossoms covered the battlefield, yet, the flowers appeared to have no effect. They swayed gently in the wind, harmless and inert.

Major Zoller grunted in frustration as his light barrier deflected yet another strike from an elven grand magus, his voice sharp with irritation. "What kind of spell are you casting? How is this helping the civilians?" Unmoved by the Major's tone, Emery remained steadfast, his hands still connected to the ground and his focus locked on the writhing flowers before him. With a calm yet commanding voice, he uttered a single word "Chututlu!"

A wave of energy surged through the battlefield, channeled from Emery's connection to the Khaos. The dark purple flowers responded instantly, their petals trembling as they began to unfurl. Within seconds, the ominous blooms released a shimmering cloud of luminescent pollen that blanketed the battlefield in a glowing haze.

At first, the strange phenomenon caused a brief lull in the fighting, both allies and enemies pausing to gape at the ethereal sight. But then, the orcs began to react.

CHIWIKK!! CHIWIKK!!

One by one, guttural growls of pain erupted from their ranks. Their brutish faces twisted in agony as their glowing purple eyes betrayed the effects of the pollen. Muscular bodies that had moments ago surged with unstoppable ferocity now faltered. Orcs dropped to their knees, clutching at their chests or throats, their once-formidable strength sapped away.

"Poison!" a voice from the human ranks cried, panic beginning to ripple through the civilians. The sight of the orcs succumbing en masse was both horrifying and unsettling, and many feared that they too would be next.

However, despite the chaos, not a single human fell. The civilians huddled together, clutching one another for support, their breaths quick and shallow, but they remained unharmed. Slowly, the realization dawned upon them.

This wasn't ordinary poison—it was a carefully engineered attack. Through days of relentless research into the genetic structure of the orcs, Emery had refined his [Primal Flora] spell into a deadly weapon tailored specifically to his enemies. The pollen was a toxin lethal only to orcs, rendering them powerless and harmlessly bypassing the physiology of humans.

Emery continued his spells, his Elysian Vambrace glowed brightly as his nature spells were further enhanced. Once again, he cast another nature spell, summoning more plants across the battlefield. This time, in addition to the poisonous flowers, he conjured glowing mushrooms that emitted a soothing light and had the power to heal and rejuvenate the wounded civilians.

With this, Emery has successfully created a safe zone for the civilians. Now, he needed to focus on coordinating efforts to ensure their escape from the battlefield.
