Death... and me

Chapter 3382: Well, So Be It

Chapter 3382: Well, So Be It

Well, it wasn't really that bad at first. Although the temperature dropped inside the protection barrier, it quickly restored to normality, all the ice melting almost instantly. Rean looked at the ship, knowing that its warming capability had been ramped up.

The ship continued forward, and the clouds got even thicker. All the ships on the same path were no different, and they were all struck by those rays of deep blue light. Layer after layer of frost formed over their protection barrier, just to melt in an instant.

-Everyone,- Klinron's voice echoed all over the ship. -This is as far as we can ramp up the Warm Boat's properties. We are at the critical point of the overflow. Soon, the freezing light waves will surpass what the barrier can hold and what the ship can deal with. At that moment, you can only rely on your own abilities to resist it. You have been warned.-

Indeed, it didn't take long for that to happen. Before, that strength of protection would be enough to cross at least half of the corridor. But now, it wasn't enough to reach even 10% of the way.

*Trummm...*

Another Deep Blue Light hit the barrier of the ship, but this time it was many times stronger than the previous ones. Immediately, an intense sense of cold assaulted everyone on board, and they were all forced to use some of their Divine Energy to deal with it.

Gram approached Rean and Kentucky, patting their shoulders. "You guys should return to your rooms. Although it won't make much of a difference, it is still better than here on the deck."

Rean smiled and shook his head. "Don't worry, we are fine."

*Dummm!*

Another ray of freezing light, and the barrier couldn't hold it. The layer of frost and icicles appeared all over the ship again, but this time, even more rigorous. Gram quickly drove some of his Divine Energy, protecting himself against it. "Sigh... then I wish you good luck."

Rean and Kentucky returned their attention to the outside as the ship proceeded further into the corridor. All the ships were going through the same situation, and the passengers were obligated to protect themselves. None of them seemed concerned, though. Most of them were already sitting on the decks, using those waves of freezing energy to aid in their cultivations or skills training.

Things continued like that for over a day, and by the time they completed a fifth of the journey, the barriers on the ships already couldn't stop more than 50% of the freezing energy with each strike of deep blue light.

The cultivators, demon beasts, and spirits with water affinity were making quite a good use of the environment, and they added their divine stones on top of that to benefit the most. Of course, there were a few who were just like Rean and Kentucky. They didn't have water affinity nor did they use water laws. They were just passing by, and they were already suffering quite a lot, especially those with opposite affinities, like fire users.

Duleti opened her eyes for a moment, looking at those experts without water affinity and laws. Most were in the Elemental Space Realm, so they still could resist the freezing energies without much hardship. However, those in the Space Bending Realm were not looking so good. Duleti shook her head, disapproving of their decision to cross the corridor during such a time while it was obvious they didn't have the right affinities or laws. 'There are always some suicidal idiots...'

Duleti was about to close her eyes again to focus on her water cultivation when, for a moment, her eyes passed by Rean and Kentucky. For a second, she thought they were already dead. After all, those two were only in the Void Tempering Realm. If even those in the Space-Bending Realm didn't look like they would resist for long, let alone anyone in a realm below that. It was even more idiotic that they didn't return to their rooms, where they would have had a slightly better chance to survive.

Yet, her closing eyes immediately changed, opening wide instead. Looking at Rean and Kentucky, she wondered if she was looking at the same two guys she had spoken to a day earlier.

"Wow! Did you see that one, Marvin?" Kentucky asked while in his humanoid form, pointing his hand in the direction of another one of the ships behind. It was struck by a much stronger ray of freezing light energy, catching his attention.

Rean, who was sitting on a chair and eating a fruit, glanced in the direction Kentucky mentioned, seeing the thick layer of frost that appeared there. "That was quite a big one indeed, Casper."

Duleti found it hard to believe her eyes, using her Divine Sense to confirm that Rean and Kentucky were indeed in the Void Tempering Realm. 'Impossible...'

Rean and Kentucky looked like they couldn't feel the extreme freezing temperatures there at all. If anything, the two seemed to be enjoying the spectacle of lights that kept striking them and the other ships. Yet, when she looked at Rean's other hand... 'No fucking way!'

As Rean ate his fruit, his other hand was using Divine Energy to trap that same freezing light. Rean looked at it with interest, finding it an weird type of energy. He collected those lights over the past few hours, although no one noticed it before since everyone was focused on their training or on surviving the environment.

Duleti could tell with her Divine Sense... The freezing energy in Rean's hands was as powerful as the freezing energy outside before it struck the barriers. Someone at Rean's level should have been frozen solid by such a powerful freezing energy, but Rean seemed completely unfazed.

Kentucky approached Rean, reaching his hand into the ball of freezing light energy. "Is this of any use?" He asked while pulling a little bit of that freezing light energy with his hand. He, too, acted as if there wasn't anything wrong happening.

"Who knows?" Rean shrugged and let go of that energy. It spread around them, creating thick chunks of ice in their surroundings but still having absolutely no effect on them. "At least I don't have any."

Kentucky then let go of the energy in his hand as well, which once again increased the ice around them. "Well, so be it."

And as always, any Golden Tickets and Stones are welcome. ;)
