Death... and me

Chapter 3281: Never Tell

Chapter 3281: Never Tell

Arriving at the building, Waritala was obviously able to get past the various checkings without any issues. As for Roan, she said that he was her problem, and no one dared to complain. Who would try to stop a cultivator of the Divine Realm?

Not long after, they arrived at the formation, stepping on it. "Let's get over with this maintenance shit. Turn the formation on and send me up. Also, you all better be ready to check the connection while I'm doing my job up there. If any of you fucks up and makes me stay up there more than necessary, heads will roll. Do you understand?"

"Yes, Lady Waritala!" The formations masters of the mortal world swallowed hard as they felt a chill on their backs. Waritala was known for her short temper and harsh punishments. They didn't doubt for a second she would kill one or two guys if they didn't do their best during this maintenance job.

"Where are Gigfa and Ronten?" Waritala looked around and seemed annoyed.

"Here, here, here!" Gigfa and Ronten were two formation masters who usually worked close to Waritala, so they always followed Waritala during these away jobs. "Sorry for making you wait, Lady Waritala. Your request to take this job was too sudden. We had to prepare our materials first."

Waritala nodded. "So be it. The fact you still prepared everything on such short notice is already commendable. Stay behind me. We are going up."

Gigfa and Ronten naturally noticed Roan there as well. "And this friend here?"

"I have a job for him," Waritala spoke a little bit more than she did with the other formations masters. "Just don't bother with him and focus on the maintenance. Also, I will be gone for an hour or so after we get up there. I will count on you to get things going while I'm out."

"Yes, you can leave everything to us, Lady Waritala," Gigfa and Ronten accepted the orders. There wasn't anything strange about it. They would just start their work on the more simple runes, and that would indeed save Waritala's time. She leaving for a moment wouldn't change their schedule.

Meanwhile, Roan spoke to her through Spiritual Sense. 'Are these two your distractions?'

Warilata confirmed. 'That's correct. If I had gone up alone, that would indeed be a little suspicious since I usually leave the most boring parts for others to work on. I only take care of the runes that require a high level of proficiency. Don't worry, we will just leave them behind, and they will be sent back sooner or later once we disappear.'

Roan was quite satisfied, actually. 'You have a good head for this.'

Finally, the formation activated, and a power flash of silver light appeared. When it came back to normal, Waritala's group was already gone. Yet little did others notice, but the moment Roan was about to be teleported, he put a hand on Waritala's shoulder.

*Pin!*

Hearing the familiar sound of the system, both Rean and Roan sighed. 'At least this much is predictable.'

In the Divine Realm, a teleport formation activated, and two people appeared inside an enormous building. Many such formations could be seen, with quite a few activating from time to time. The two people who just got there were completely at a loss, though. Gigfa and Ronten looked around their own formation, where Waritala and Roan were supposed to have appeared. "Where did they go?"

Just a moment before the transfer was completed...

[Coordinates of arrival changed.]

That had happened once to the twins. Back when they went from the Mortal World to the Realm of Gods, they were supposed to go to the Demon Beast Territories. Yet, they were sent to the humanoid territories instead by the system. Afraid that the same thing would happen again, Roan held Waritala's shoulder so she would be dragged with him wherever the system sent them.

Sure enough, the system showed its predictable unpredictability, sending them to a completely different place in the Divine Realm.

*Zush, zush!*

Snow... so much snow...

Everything around Roan and Waritala was a picture of whiteness. That scenario continued as far as they could see, taking Waritala by surprise. "This... is not where we were supposed to have come..."

Beneath her, she saw the remnants of an old formation and pretty much the only place in that area where snow didn't accumulate.

*Crash, crash, crash, crash...*

Yet, the runes of that formation began to break apart one after another. Looking at the formation, Waritala knew that this last teleport surpassed the limit of what that formation could take. If anything, it was already a miracle it could receive a teleportation at all.

Roan, completely unconcerned, just waited for the system's message to continue. 'What bullshit quest will it give us now?' Rean, obviously, waited for the same thing to happen inside the Dimensional Realm.

[Teleportation concluded.]

...

...

Several seconds passed... and nothing happened. The system never took that long to speak its own contents, which means...

'Wait, there is nothing?' Rean and Roan were finally surprised. 'Was there even reason to change the arrival coordinates then? Sister Orb?'

[Hey, don't look at me. You know it wasn't my fault.]

And... that was it. The system didn't make any other announcements after the teleportation was concluded. Of course, the twins weren't idiots. Since the system sent them here, there is most likely a reason behind it. They just don't know what reason it is yet.

"Roan..." Waritala, who was finding it hard to come up with words, finally opened her mouth. "Was it you? How did you change the teleportation coordinates in the middle of the process? Did you prepare another formation in between our departing point and the point of arrival?" Rifindio did use such a method with the twins, so Waritala knew it was possible.

Roan shook his head, though. "That's for you to answer. We took your teleport formation. If we had such a power, would we even need your help to come up here?" Yes, Roan would never tell Waritala about the system.
