Chapter 920: Chapter 567: Solo Run

Compared to other types of initial territories, islands have a somewhat unremarkable feature: resource balance.

Other kinds of territories generally have more singular resources. For example, the main resource in mountainous areas is stone, and in forests, it’s wood, often with few or even no other resources.

Islands are different, with a very balanced distribution of resources. They have wood and stone, and by the seaside, one can even fish. With a bit of luck, you might even discover a mine.

Of course, this balance also has its drawbacks. The quantities of resources are smaller, and it’s difficult to extract rare resources. Whether this is good or bad depends on how the lord develops the territory.

Initial territories are limited in size, only about two or three square kilometers, and Xu Yang quickly got a clear picture of the situation.

Four types of initial resources and four kinds of guarding monsters are scattered in the four cardinal directions from the center of the town hall.

To the east lies a small forest where you can cut down trees, occupied by a group of disoriented and barely clothed “Demonized Barbarians!”

To the west, there’s a gap that leads to the coastal beach, where you can fish in the nearby sea and build essential harbor docks for the island, but it’s roamed by a group of “Demonized Fishermen,” similar to the Demonized Barbarians.

The north side has a hill that can provide stone material and also serves as a natural defensive barrier. There’s a cave in the hill, likely inhabited by demonized beasts like tigers and bears.

To the south is a small valley scattered with dark red iron ore, a surface iron mine, but there’s also a cave in the mine, and it’s unknown what it hides.

Wood, food, stone, iron ore!

Four resources— which to harvest first?

The highest value iron ore?

It’s uncertain what demon monsters lie within the cave of the iron mine. Although Xu Yang is skilled and brave, there’s no need to take risks. Better to proceed step by step and start with the easiest option. The Demonized Barbarians in the eastern forest seem like a good choice.

Carrying his longsword, Xu Yang didn’t even wear the fur suit with its 5 points of protection, dressing only in the academy uniform with its 1 point of protection, as he single-handedly approached the eastern forest.

Upon reaching the forest, he encountered a Demonized Barbarian.

As a “monster,” this Demonized Barbarian seemed even more wooden than the farmers of the Sky-reaching Tower. Although the figure was robust, it appeared soulless and despondent, like a walking corpse wandering back and forth in the forest with a wooden club.

Xu Yang had studied this thoroughly. Whether troop or monster, if the rank isn’t high, then intelligence won’t be high either. These initial monsters are just like that, with only the most basic combat instincts, unlike the base-level farmers of the Sky-reaching Tower, who would still respond to orders with, “Yes, master!”

Looking at the Demonized Barbarian on the outskirts of the forest, Xu Yang didn’t say a word and directly kicked a pebble out.

“Thwack!”

A light sound, the stone hit its target, and the barbarian turned around in confusion, then became furiously active, lifting its wooden club and charging towards Xu Yang.

Xu Yang didn’t act rashly; he waited for it to charge out of the forest before swiftly closing in, his longsword thrusting forward.

Although his Physical Attribute was a mere five points, high and low levels have their respective uses. Combining his movement technique with swordsmanship, his sword thrusts shone with a cold light. They weren’t a rainstorm of pears, but more like flickering stars, leaving black blood to drift as he ended the battle with one sword through the throat.

“Thump!”

A heavy sound as the barbarian hit the ground.

Carrying his longsword, Xu Yang glanced at the battle record.

“Vital attack, you inflicted 20 damage on the Demonized Barbarian!”

“Vital attack, you inflicted 30 damage on the Demonized Barbarian!”

“You have killed a Demonized Barbarian (Normal)!”

“You have earned 50 Experience Points!”

Looking at the damage data in the battle record, Xu Yang opened his attribute panel.

Name: Xu Yang

Race: Human

Level: 1 (First-Order Lord)

Physical Strength: 5

Intelligence: 5

Charm: 5

Basic Skills: First-Order Strong Body LV1, First-Order Strong Attack LV1, First-Order Strong Bow LV1, First-Order Weapon Mastery LV1, First-Order Riding Skill LV1, First-tier Logistics LV1, First-order Command LV1.

Weapon Skills: One-handed Weapon (Proficient), Archery Weapon (Proficient), Long Pole Weapon (Proficient)

The attribute panel and various Attributes are pretty self-explanatory.

Physical Strength is the manifestation of physique and strength, affecting physical attack, defense, and related effects.

Intelligence represents mental strength, affecting mental attack, defense and the effects of related skills, and has no direct relationship with IQ; otherwise, having regained his memory, Xu Yang would have thousands, if not millions, of points.

Charm is a comprehensive representation of one’s appearance, demeanor, and oratory skills, impacting the Commander value and effects of related skills, making it one of the most important Attributes for a Lord.

The rest of the Basic Skills and Weapon Skills are also easy to understand—either they increase damage or have auxiliary functions.

Xu Yang’s attribute values are standard offerings, what any normal person would have, nothing to write home about.

What’s critical is…

With just five points of Physical Strength, using a longsword with six points of thrusting damage, along with enhancements from Strong Body, Strong Strike, and proficiency with weapons, attacking an undefended Demonized Barbarian and hitting a vital spot, he could only inflict twenty to thirty points of damage.

This Demonized Barbarian’s “Strong Body” skill must be quite high, reducing the damage received.

This is the downside of the “Data World!”

In a normal world, Xu Yang could easily dispatch the barbarian with a thrust to the throat, instantly fatal.

But in this world, where the Laws have changed, the power of skills and data have reduced his damage, forcing Xu Yang to strike additional blows to achieve the kill.

And this is only a low-Order Demon. Against a High-Order Demon Monster, one might not even break through its defenses, and standing there letting it be hacked at might not help at all.
