Chapter 1233 Reunion

Chapter 1233 Reunion

Khan and Liiza gathered before the cumbersome ship's entrance. The doors were open, and a mana barrier covered that gap, preventing the internal atmosphere from escaping.

The couple was alone and inevitably tense due to the Niqols' ship drawing closer to that opening. Still, some confusion was in the air. Khan decided to cut the call short for safety reasons, opting for a face-to-face meeting, and it was unclear whether that would be the trigger for the war he was trying to avoid.

The Niqols' ship reached the opening and turned, activating its own mana barrier before connecting its back to that entrance. The black metal in that spot slid, creating a narrow passage that a familiar figure didn't hesitate to cross.

Admittedly, the familiarity was mostly instinctive for Khan. He recognized that dark blue, handsome face, but everything else about the Niqols had changed.

The tall alien had a head full of long, blood-red hair that crossed his shoulders, and that color stretched to his eyebrows and eyes. The latter glowed with an ominous scarlet light, blending with the blue and white radiances pointed at him.

The alien's physique had also changed. The Niqols were slender and possessed harmonious figures. The newcomer didn't lose those features, but his sleeveless white robe revealed his well-toned, defined arms. He wasn't burly, but his muscles were impossible to miss.

The Niqols even radiated a strange sense of intensity and heaviness, coming from his slim but shredded build and his fifth-level warrior's state. There was also something else to his power that Khan couldn't immediately identify, just like Liiza was.

"Liiza," The alien called, his deep, serious voice echoing in the area while his scarlet eyes moved toward Khan. "Khan."

The tension intensified, but Khan frowned when the Niqols spread his arms. He felt he had already seen that scene, and what followed unlocked that awkward memory.

"Come here, my friend!" The alien shouted, jumping forward to trap Khan in a hug that he couldn't find the strength to dodge. His brain had instinctively accepted its inevitability, allowing that affectionate gesture.

"Ilman," Khan grunted as the alien lifted him and waved him left and right. "How did you get even louder?"

"My feelings have deepened!" Ilman laughed, placing Khan down and slamming his hands on his shoulders. "I missed you, my friend!"

'What is with men and my shoulders?' Khan cursed in his mind, but a genuine chuckle escaped his mouth. "I missed you, too."

"And you have gotten stronger," Ilman continued, testing Khan's shoulders with his fingers while nodding proudly. "I expected nothing less from you."

The reunion ended up sidelining Liiza, but she didn't mind. A loving smile actually broadened on her face. Despite everything, she still cared for her species, and seeing her husband being treated as an ally and friend made her happy.

"Ooh," Ilman eventually exclaimed, letting go of Khan's shoulders to study his appearance.

Strangely enough, Ilman didn't seem to care for Khan's blue hair or glowing eyes. He mainly focused on the red symbols across his naked torso and face, clearly recognizing their purpose and origin.

"You must have gotten truly strong for Liiza to resort to this," Ilman commented. "I wonder who is faster now between us."

Something Khan hadn't experienced in a long time rose through his mind when he saw Ilman's confident smirk. He didn't forget how the two of them had been the best warriors of their generation on Nitis, and that competitiveness didn't disappear.

"I bet I'd still have to do all the work," Khan joked, and Ilman couldn't help but laugh.

Liiza shook her head happily. The boys seemed on the verge of fighting or starting a party, so she had to be the wisest of the three, bringing up the issue at hand.

"[Ilman]," Liiza called, and using the Niqols' language managed to distract both Ilman and Khan. "[Aren't you angry]?"

"[Nonsense]!" Ilman snorted, crossing his arms. "[Which true Niqols would be angry about you following your feelings? You should never have offered yourself for the marriage when Khan was still out there]."

Khan didn't know what surprised him the most. Liiza had told him that Ilman had become his greatest supporter, but seeing her accept his rebuke was strange. Moreover, his words had even made sense.

"[Thank you for understanding, Ilman]," Liiza softly exclaimed, nearing Khan to take his hand. "[I couldn't go through it after seeing Khan again]."

"[Of course]," Ilman proudly announced. "[My intuition remains unmatched]."

Khan and Liiza chuckled, but the former had more questions, and unleashing his perfect Niqols accent forced Ilman's scarlet eyes on him. "[Thank you, Ilman. Still, how did you find us? We were extremely careful]."

Ilman fell silent, his face growing serious as he diverted his gaze, peeking past his shoulder to look at the still-open Niqols' ship. The room beyond that door was empty, but a foul aura eventually spread past it, and a figure soon accompanied it.

An intense stench of blood invaded the area as an old Niqols stepped on the cumbersome ship's metal floor. Her long, black toenails tried to scratch that surface, but Khan mostly focused on the wrinkled face, partially hidden by dirty, red hair. Zalpa didn't change in those ten years, but Khan could finally experience her aura.

"[You ungrateful kid]," Zalpa cried in her rough voice. "[Did you really think I wouldn't have found you? I kept samples of your hair and blood since you were a child]!"

"[You]!" Liiza gasped, surprised by Zalpa's presence and what she had just revealed. "[You old hag! How could you do that without my consent or me knowing about it]?"

"[I taught you well, Lii]," Zalpa scoffed, "[But you are a century too young to know all my methods. Besides, I bet you would have been too busy opening your legs to notice anything anyway]."

Liiza snorted but wore a proud expression, refusing to show any regret about her decision. Still, she started to blush since Zalpa had been right on the mark.

"[It's nice to see you, too, Zaza]," Khan announced, throwing a teasing line to shield his wife from that bickering.

"[You damned human]!" Zalpa cursed, spitting on the floor while taking heavy steps toward Khan. "[You are a curse upon Lii's life. If it weren't for you-]."

Zalpa had to interrupt her line when she reached Khan. Her anger had partially blinded her, but standing before him made his existence and its nature impossible to ignore.

Despite the ten years that had passed, Zalpa was a fourth-level warrior, while Khan had turned into a walking calamity. His character had also changed. He wasn't someone who could be bullied or ordered around anymore, especially by an old alien who could threaten his marriage.

"[Zalpa, you know I love the Niqols]," Khan exclaimed, smiling at the old, wary face still busy studying him. "[But if you try to take Liiza away, I'll turn what we saw during the sunlight into beautiful memories]."
