Thomas Lysvand was annoyed, he was above these six people, stronger than them, but he could not kill them. They worked together, protecting each other, and never committing a full attack on him. That was right, they did not try to go for the kill.
Instead of attacking him with the intention to kill him, they attacked him with an escape in mind after the attack. From all the attacks on him, he was not threatened at all except for the burn from magma that immediately healed. It was as if these six people tried to hold him here, but why did they want him down here? He made sure to check what happened on the wall.
The Hurakan Legion Commander was still on the wall, commanding the soldiers from the wall instead of joining the six people. The other strong commanders remained on their post as well, meaning they did not try to ambush him while he was busy with these six people, but why did they want to hold him down here?
Thomas Lysvand could not figure out what they planned, and he also hesitated to go all out, fearing he might fall into a trap. That reminded him of Soares. The Battle King died without putting up a big fight, and this might be the same trap but they set it up for him. The emperor treated the fight more carefully, scanning his surroundings.
He furrowed his brow deeper as he could not find anything suspicious from them and from the defense on the wall. They wanted to keep him here, but he did not know why, and that worried him. However, he could not leave them alone as these people were too strong for his soldiers.
Thomas Lysvand did not have a choice but to fall to their plan and tread the fight carefully.

Tang Shaoyang watched the fight from the wall, and he was doubtful at first. He also noticed that the six commanders’ attacks were not meant to kill the emperor. If he could notice it, the emperor should be able to notice it as well. If it was him, he would go try for the kill when the meteor fell on the emperor. That was a chance to catch the emperor off guard, but the six commanders decided to regroup and went on the defensive.
His decision not to attack the army with his bow was the right decision. The emperor did not notice anything amiss with their disappearance. He was doubtful to make a move but decided to go on it after he noticed the confusion on the emperor’s face. As long as the emperor did not notice their plan, Thomas did not have a choice but to confront the six overpowered commanders instead of letting thousands of his army get wiped out without being able to do anything.
Tang Shaoyang signaled to the Snow Elf to start, and Khaya let the second team sneak into the army of the void creature through their shadows. He followed them and blended into the army.
The eight kings’ focus split between maintaining the barrier and the fight between the emperor and the six commanders. They wanted to help but hesitated as Thomas Lysvand did not order them to. The order was to protect the army from the long-range attack and minimize the casualties until they broke into the frontier.
[Pick your target and wait for my signal. We will attack them together!] Tang Shaoyang sent Khaya and her team a message. The eight kings remained standing closely, and the assassination would work if they went for the kill together.
Khaya was hiding in the shadows with her small team, eyeing the eight kings. She knew the names of all eleven kings, but she did not know their appearance. She did not want to overestimate herself and the team, so she wanted to pick the weakest among the eight kings.
She communicated through the message with her team and shared her thoughts about picking the weakest king, and five of them responded with an agreement.
[the second from the right! I have observed them, and I think that one might be the weakest one. He is always the latest to recover each time the barrier is destroyed.] Anne did not look away from the eight kings and noticed it quickly.
[Alright! I will send a message to Captain!] Khaya sent a message to Tang Shaoyang while her heartbeat was beating furiously out of nervousness. Her confidence when she agreed to join the assassination was long gone as it was replaced with nervousness. If she was not hidden in the shadows, people would see her trembling hands.
[Don’t need to be nervous when you are with me. Trust your captain and trust me, that king should not be an issue for you and your team. If not for their army, I will ask you to pick one and fight one yourself. But it’s not ideal when they have millions of void creatures behind them.] Radiance tried to calm Khaya before the action.
Khaya shook her head and decided not to reply to the spirit in her head. She focused on the main mission, killed one of the kings, and retreated. Whether they succeeded or not, Tang Shaoyang told them to retreat immediately afterward. She must not make a mistake and bring her team back to the wall after this operation.
They continued hiding in the shadows as half an hour passed, and that actually helped with her nervousness as she started to observe the battlefield. The six commanders were still fighting the emperor, and the frontier kept the army of the void creatures away from the wall. It was a stalemate, but the Void Cult seemed to have an unlimited army to throw.
Another fifteen minutes passed and Khaya was much less nervous than forty-five minutes ago. She was still nervous, but she was much better now. She figured out that her captain wanted to wait until the eight kings spread out before launching the attack, but they remained in the same spot and stayed in a group. If they spread out slightly, it would increase the chance of assassinating four of them at once.
Ding!
Khaya received a message, not just him, but the five in her team as well. The message was from the captain, and the operation was about to start. Tang Shaoyang had a different idea for them.
[We will execute the plan in a minute, your team stays hidden in the shadows and ambushes them when we distract them. Don’t focus on your target, but focus on the one that is not on guard!]
We in the message were not her team as the instruction for her and her team was to stay hidden. Their captain would start in a minute, and if their captain succeeded, the remaining kings would focus on Tang Shaoyang. That was when they would assassinate one of the kings as they would not expect a second ambush.
Khaya did not question her captain who he meant by “we” as she would find out soon. She did not want to distract her captain with senseless questions.
Everyone focused on the eight kings, ignoring the battlefield for now. Their captain was about to make his move at any moment. Not even a minute passed since they received the message and they saw eight portals formed behind the eight kings.
They were surprised that their captain targeted all kings instead of leaving one king for them. Out of the eight kings, three of them reacted in time, but the remaining five kings were caught off guard. The three kings canceled the barrier and dashed away from the portal while the unfortunate five kings were caught and killed.
The fallen angel managed to pierce the king in the middle with her sword, and then she pulled the king into the portal. They recognized the fallen angel as the woman who always stayed with their captain.
They also saw the gorgeous woman in the dress, with a single touch from her, the king was frozen. With a flick, the frozen king broke into pieces before melting. The shock was that their flesh also melted along with the ice, leaving no remains behind.
They saw the third king was caught with thousands of dark-skinned hands into the portal. They did not know what it was, but the king disappeared into the portal, not coming out ever again as the portal closed. The fourth king was attacked by a dozen calamities before a golden imp appeared and crushed the king’s head with the fork. Then the golden imp dragged the dead body into the portal.
The fifth king was caught by the red-skinned Orc. Two spinning axes hit the king’s back as a hand caught the king’s head. The Orc crushed the king’s head with brute force and feasted on the heart right before everyone. Then the Orc tore the remaining body apart. That was the most brutal way to kill the king.
Their captain also tried, but his swords only cut a quarter of the king’s body as the king managed to run away the moment the king noticed the portal. Out of eight kings, only three of them managed to escape.
